I just realised that I don't talk about Ying Lei as much as I should, but he's honestly one of my favourite characters here. This guy is a huge cinnamon roll, buddies with everyone, has no mean bone in his body and he's cute as hell. I love how expressive he is, initially I didn't think I would find blond wig good on anyone in a costume drama but Ying Lei (and Cheng Lei) really changed my mind.

Seems like Li Lun's backstory is coming up soon yippee! I need to know what caused their divorce and shit that got him acting this salty. Him being such a king of pettiness has left me wondering for a while in general.

"Brotherhood is also love" Aiya our jealous Zhuo Yichen, we all know the kind of 'brotherhood' going on between you and Zhu Yan. And it's love for sure.

If it kept going like this, it might end up becoming one of my favourite dramas of this year.

I have a teeny-tiny question: is the ml here actually a siscon? I'll be honest, I only saw the novel's synopsis which mentioned him being obsessed with his older sister and a screenshot from this drama on the mdl feeds where he was being called a siscon by a character, so I was wondering.

I do want to start this drama and I find both of the main leads absolutely adorable together, but I find siscon stuff awkward and uncomfortable to watch, even in fiction. So, while I know him and his sister probably won't be the end game (since they aren't the main couple, Esther Yu and Ding Yuxi is), I only wanted to know if it's just a few jokes here and there, a misunderstanding that made them think he romantically likes his sister, or something else that isn't like... ml just straight-up going heart-eyes while looking at his sister. I would appreciate any help here.

Lusi actually looks like a mermaid here. Now I want her in a xianxia where she plays a mermaid mc, I just know she'll do justice to that role.

Damn, this drama was like a punch in the face... in the best way possible and that's coming from someone who usually doesn't like to get punched. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was left surprised and not disappointed. It really reminded me of this poem (just replace 'silk' with pearl and 'silkworm farmers' with pearl divers)

I can totally see that! In fact, Bai Jiu can play a vampire who's scared of blood and Ying Lei would be a popular chef who seems pretty normal to the vampires, but humans are scared of him everytime he casually brings up the kind of dishes he's going to make with human blood 💀

The more I compare the characters to the mythological creatures they're playing, the more I realise how clever their costumes are and how they manage to be more than 'just pretty' since they're both pretty and, in a way, like a clothing-adaptation of Classic of Mountains and Seas, you can literally put them in a fashion show at this point. Initially I wanted to rob Zhu Yan's closet, but now I want to rob everyone.

I just realised that Li Lun is like an extra version of a kid who got grounded to his room by his parents and then began killing gta npcs to vent his anger on. Poor guy just doesn't have any games, only a emotional-support rattle with a knife stuck on top. I'd let him kill a few people here and there for, uh, entertainment purposes.

"someone actually commented that his screams are similar to a hamsters" that was me, I've been spreading my hamster-jiu propaganda for a while 😌 And I'm glad that someone actually checked and compared the screams, one more believer means one less person to fall for GJM's lies that 'he isn't an hamster.' I swear even the actor is a hamster let alone the character he's playing here. Human vocal chords can't possibly emit such sounds.

Bai Jiu... Oh Bai Jiu, this drama really wants to convince me that you aren't a hamster demon but rather something else (judging by ep 13) however they won't succeed. Nothing can come between me and my theory that you're a goddamn hamster.

Ikr, he has to be the saddest side character here so far TT he fell in love with everything that couldn't exist beside him and when there was someone who could (the goddess), he couldn't stay beside her and ended up killing himself. From the first moment he was born, he was fated to not have what brought him happiness because it went against his very own existence as a beast of calamity.

And something tells me either the umbrella or jade-wine bottle that Zhu Yan always carries around, was given to him by Li Lun. Mutual obsession just hits dif.

Was going through her dramas and noticed that 'Mu Wen [Female mosquito]' role she got. It's killing me. I know it was obviously a humanoid version or something, but they really made this girl play a female mosquito? 💀

Anyways, I loved her in My Journey to You and am glad to see her again in Fangs of Fortune. She's great in historicals.

Ngl if he were to give this opportunity to us, the viewers, he'll definitely never run out of a puppet army. Too bad he lives in the world where he has to actually try and trick people into becoming his minions, instead of just... idk, showing his face and everyone going 'alright so what do I have to do for you my unhinged demonic lord? Rob the local mcdonalds?'
