Ever since I've seen him in green robes as Gong Zi, this man has been my first choice for Shen Qingqiu from SVSSS. If there's someone who can do justice to that role, then it's Wang Duo. Sucks that danmei adaptions have no chance of happening or even airing lately, he could've ruled the entire genre with ease. He's that fucking good with his acting and his face... oh, it's so perfect, if someone told me he's an ancient painting who came to life I would believe them.
It's been almost 6 years and I still haven't been able to find another drama that made me feel the way this one did. There's just something so... humane about the way they portrayed every character. Even when I hated some to the bones (Cha Luo), there were moments that genuinely made my heart ache for them. It had a wide range of characters, all shades of grey possible, and the way they were carefully handled is this drama's biggest strength. Neither the vfx nor a couple of plot points might stand the test of time, but the characters will. And the whole cast did justice to their roles.
Contemplating whether I should bang my head against the wall rn. Why is it taking so long to become available online? I don't want to be sitting on a creaky chair with a head full of greys and a heart full of regrets about never getting to watch this damn movie in my entire life ●█▀█▄
Edit: I just saw the vfx breakdown of some scenes and it made me appreciate the effort that went into this movie's visuals even more (they're the main reason I want to watch it, along with Fandy Fan's acting skills) I already expected colour grading, but had no idea they used vfx in seemingly ordinary scenes too, especially to add covid related posters. Here's the breakdown btw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=b6BxgehDP2c&gl=JP
Perhaps that's not what you originally meant to imply here, but I believe it's a bit odd to assume those who don't…
Eh? I think you misunderstood my comment. I didn't say that you attacked anyone or was forcing people to watch it, this wasn't mentioned in my comment even once. On the contrary, I believe that you've every right to have and share your own opinions. I said that you were kind of implying that people not liking SA in their fiction can't separate fiction from reality, something that you did again here with "yes of course there some people in here ( and anywhere else) who can't separate fiction from reality because of lack of life experience and that's acceptable and normal". Girl, I said people can separate fiction from reality AND still not like something in fiction, just like how some people don't like awkward kisses or immature characters. It's a drama. It's fiction. Everyone can see it as fiction. Doesn't mean they need to like every aspect. That's all.
I, too, didn't mean to attack you and I don't see this as an argument, we're just having a healthy discussion. But I think both of us have already stated our points and there's no point in going back and forth anymore. Have a great day.
"Could this be an accident, or perhaps it’s a murder?" we won't know until you start filming this 😩 give us the drama or at least some crumbs, if you starved sapphics so bad you'll have to sleep with one eye open for the rest of your lives. I've got my pitchforks ready and I'm not afraid to use them.
Thanks for your contribution. I'm sensitive to romanticised rape in media and was looking forward to this drama…
Yeah. Kind of a pity they didn't do that, since most of the viewers actually seem to prefer consensual acts. I think what makes it harder to stomach is that it's violent (from what I've read in the comments), dubious consent is somewhat common in the BL genre but they usually don't show the physical violence aspect enough so that the viewers can ignore it if they want to.
Btw a bit off topic but your profile pic is so cute! It makes me want to rewatch The Untamed XD
For those who claim that can not stand the sa topic of this series, (although I also oppose to any kind of abusive…
Perhaps that's not what you originally meant to imply here, but I believe it's a bit odd to assume those who don't like SA in this drama can't separate fiction from reality. Some people just don't like some things in their fiction and that's alright as long as they aren't attacking those who do. It's just like how some people don't enjoy awkward kisses or immature characters, they know it's happening on the screen and those are fictional characters, they simply don't like it. They aren't kids who don't know any better, they're people with preferences.
Fiction ≠ Reality but personal preferences would always remain a thing. And I think it's lovely that this world is filled with different kinds of people who like different kinds of stuff in their fiction. The world would be a boring place without individuality. So, once again, someone can view this drama as fiction and still not like a few aspects, they're also free to talk about it respectfully. I'm not trying to change your opinion here, I'm just adding my perspective to this.
It's tough to enjoy a series when it includes such triggering scenes. While some people might be okay with it,…
Yeah, a start is always good even if it isn't perfect so I completely get that. Honestly I kind of hope 巫哲/Wu Zhe's works would get adapted in the future. I was so looking forward to 'Chasing the Light' since it's an adaptation of my favourite modern danmei (Saye) but the new cdrama rule that forbids even censored adaptations got me feeling sad as hell. She still has a couple more slice-of-life novels that stick close to the reality and struggles of being gay in less accepting environments, so may those ones get picked up one day and we would be able to watch these beautiful stories come to life on the screen.
