Can we just take a moment to appreciate the actress who played the younger version of Lael though? She's acts subtly yet naturally and is so talented at such a young age. I'm glad she's in this drama and really look forward to her future works. The child actress playing the ml's daughter is amazing, too. I'm surprised she knows how to cry without coming across as if she's merely acting, it's like I'm actually seeing a child get wronged and makes me feel sad tbh.
I'm personally not bothered by the age difference between the fl and her (fake?) husband so far. They did meet when the fl was a teen, but their relationship started by the time both were adults. Unless he felt attracted towards her when she was a minor (which is gross but luckily wasn't implied), I don't care what two adults are doing as long as it's consensual and well-balanced.
I can't bring myself to ship her with anyone though, it's probably because I'm not actually here for romance and just want to see a girl being fashionable, getting all the money, taking revenge, ruining some lives and stuff. Would be fun to see her take a bath in the blood of her enemies too. π
ππ±πΆπ: Wait... I just watched episode 2, the lawyer and her fake husband are two different people? My dumbass hasn't seen any of their works and thought it was the lawyer whom she married to (it could be because my exams are going on and my overly-caffeinated braincells can't bother memorising anyone's face), but if that's not the case at all, then I'm confused which age-gap people were talking about?
The lawyer and her have no romantic relationship, the dude she's trying to seduce met and fell for the adult her (correct me if I'm wrong but he never even saw her when she was a teen, right?) and there doesn't seem to be an age-gap between the fl and her current husband or they met as adults too. So, what was the issue? isn't age-gap usually acceptable when it's not between a minor (or barely legal - as they're easily groomed and indicate the other could've gone even lower if they're willing to go for the lowest legal age) and an adult?
why is the rating so low all of a sudden??? it was 8.5 now its 6.7????
Don't worry, mdl is just malfunctioning like the rest of us after seeing Seo Yeji looking so ethereal in the drama. It'll probably get fixed sooner or later.
I didn't even get into the episode yet, so why have I been attacked by the beautiful shots of Seo Yeji in the INTRO already? Am I even supposed to survive the rest of the episode if she's going to look that pretty? We really deserve an explanation from the director regarding such a concerning matter.
I love the fl in this drama. Short dramas often have one-dimensional fls to keep the story moving forward, but here the fl feels like an actual person rather than a self-insert or plot-device.
Me too. Not so much into romance centered. I just wish they did better in the fighting aspect, which I think still…
Yep, I agree that the fighting choreography could use some work. It's not bad but it's underwhelming considering how martial arts/cultivation play such a huge part here.
This drama is like a PERFECT blend of so many elements. I also love how it's plot-heavy rather than centred around just romance. Although, there's indeed a bit of romance here but it isn't overdone (and hopefully remain that way lol), which makes it go well with rest of the story.
Lol, why? I mean yeah he is kinda cool and stanworthy but rapper, dancer and visual? What gave you the idea? He…
Oh, I just thought you took it seriously since you asked me why I came to that conclusion in your reply. Seems like it was a misunderstanding on my part.
The old man who sang in the first episode should make a cpop group where he's the leader, vocalist, rapper, dancer, visual and everything else. I'd stan this guy.
I love the artworks in this drama SO MUCH but I just can't find the artist(s) who originally drew them no matter how hard I try βββββ I did ended up finding the official weibo account dedicated to Shen Yi's works though: https://m.weibo.cn/u/7727045808
I do like this drama, but the way they dismissed the model's concerns in Episode 15 irked me. There's no way that photographer being obsessed with the model to the point of literally CUTTING OFF HER FACE from her pictures and collecting everything he could find regarding her is a simple 'admiration'; it's an unhealthy stalkerish behaviour and he had no right to lecture her about how it's a 'shame' that she 'changed as a person' by doing mainstream work and entering showbiz, he even said "your beauty died away" to her because of it and overall tried to make her, the victim in this situation, feel guilty.
She's her own person and it's her life, she doesn't need to live her life some other way because this delusional guy thinks of her as his never-changing muse. Being an artist doesn't excuse his behaviour nor turn that into 'admiration' β if a random person doing that can be considered a stalker, this guy wasn't some misunderstood hero straight out of Shakespeare's literature either. His behaviour shouldn't have been romanticisated solely because he's an artist or because she's a model. That's all.
At first, I clicked on this drama because of the beautiful posters but now I'm intrigued by the unique storyline, too. I mean, when was the last time we had a sci-fi cdrama with space travel and HISTORICAL ambience? Can't wait to see how the ships, world building, and CGI would look like.
ππ±πΆπ: Forgot to mention, it's adapted from this novel: https://www.novelupdates.com/series/purple-river/ (I'll add it in the synopsis soon) I tried reading the first few chapters and it's so interesting and one of the most unique sci-fi chinese novel I've read so far.
