Need to say. I have not watched anime or read the novel. But even if I had, I still would be giving a chance to…
I'm confused why criticism bothers ppl so much tbh. Aren't we all here to trade views about this drama? How come positive views are fine but negative ones aren't? If you haven't read the novel just ignore comparisons to the novel? Why do negative comparisons bother you? You've never read it to begin with! I have read the novel and I'm ignoring negative comparisons to the novel.
It's also odd to me why apparently criticism shouldn't occur until after a show is done but praise can start right from episode 1. I can think of far, far, far more shows that started strong and were ruined by a bad ending then shows that started bad and got saved by a good ending. If anything, you shouldn't praise shows until you're pretty sure the ending is decent.
Anyways. Up to episode 24 now and I'd stand by my view this show is perfectly mediocre but it bothers me when ppl feel the need to tell other people to be quiet and not share their opinions.
Seeing so many people complain about an 8.1 being a low rating on this site is so weird as an Asian American.…
Viki I think is even worse, almost everything is 9-10 out of 10, if something is less then 9/10 on Viki it's probably trash
It's definitely not a Chinese thing cuz Douban is the major Chinese public rating site and DC is rocking a 6.4 out of 10
Interestingly, western media on Douban tend to have very high scores in general. I think it's a matter of being more lenient on media from other countries and/or in other languages. MDL reviewers seem to mostly not speak whatever language the drama is in (mandarin in this case) and are more lenient, Douban reviewers mostly aren't native English speakers and treat Western shows with kid gloves
Whether a season 2 ever happens seems uncertain but seems impossible for this season to wrap up the story, we are not even a third of the way through the novel
Idk with others but the FL sudden appearance is quite off. She butts in as she pleases and quite a nuisance to…
In the novel they meet as 6 year olds so they have 10 years to grow closer. It does seem very abrupt in the drama where it feels like only a few months have passed. The fact that they met at 6 and are kind of siblings does make it weirder that they eventually get into a romantic relationship, but no chromo I guess.
This has probably been asked many times already, so sorry. But is this drama good, worth watching? I'm asking…
It hasn't blown my socks off but it's pretty solid, I'd give it a try if you like the genre. Most ppl who dislike it are comparing it to the source material, from which it does admittedly deviate a lot. If you're not familiar with the source material it all, it'll probably be perfectly enjoyable. Acting, effects, writing all pretty decent. Quite funny too. Not a fan of the fight choreography but otherwise a competent production.
I didn't like it either. I just don't feel it. No chemistry between the leads. Wu xuanyi's acting skill is terrible.…
Probably in the minority here but I rather like XW in the drama, pretty close to how I envisioned her in the novel, really energetic and fun. She’s always had chaotic vibes and it translates pretty well. Tang San, on the other hand, has been very flat and uninteresting so far (on ep 22), a far cry from the novel version
Fan of xz also and mainly anything fantasy wuxia. But the set pieces, back ground music, and cgi doesnt feel high…
Yeah the fights still feel off... I don’t think it’s a budgetary problem, the CGI is very decent, they just seem badly choreographed. Everybody is mostly standing still until the camera finds them, then they use a skill, then they stand still again, repeat, it’s very stiff and artificial looking.
It’s weird because c dramas usually have pretty fluid, well choreographed fights that are mostly practical. This drama seems to have a much higher CGI budget then most but they forgot about blocking and practical effects
Is this any good? I want honest opinions. I am a fan of Xiao Zhan but I don't want to check it out only because…
It's fine, I like the group dynamics and character interactions. Acting is fine. CGI is decent but action is a little stiff. Not sure what to make of the plot, it's veered quite a bit off the book so it's anybody guess where things are going.
It's nothing spectacular but it's solid, think the 8/10 score is pretty accurate.
idk who is responsible but they are trying to make emotional scenes out of nothing xD like when they were carrying…
That scene was really emotional in the novel but I feel like it got lost in translation. In the novel they figure out pretty quickly that XG estimated each of their physical limits and purposefully distributed the weight to make some of the packs beyond their limits and some under their limits so they had to trade off weights multiple times or they'd fail. Didn't seem like that was communicated super well on TV.
At the beginning Tang San was like "don't worry, we will kill only the bad ferocious beasts", then they kill that…
That scene was weird and I'm confused why they threw it in. It's not in the novel as far as I can remember and it doesn't seem to really be plot relevant. I guess it was purely foreshadowing? But it mostly just makes XG look bad
anyone have any ideas on how much of the first novel this season will cover? will it cover more than what the…
It still seems like they're on track to cut to black after the conclusion of the tournament
They've just met Liu Er Long at the new school location and it's episode 25. Still need to do the Dugu Bo and the Ice/Fire Eyes portion as well the two halves of the tournament and everything that happens in between (like the meeting with ole Chrysanthemum). Even if they really cut down on the number of fights that's probably still 10 episodes at least, plus they need to resolve all the new plot points the drama introduced that aren't in the novel
So no, if the donhua is at the halfway point of the book, this will probably only make it to the 1/3rd point. Like the other guy said, if it catches up to the donhua they've definitely cut out multiple arcs
So I cant access eps 18-23 even with vpn so i watched them raw on some site will tencent continue uploading from…
Drama and novel don't correspond super well tbh, but I think roughly we're at chapter 56? That's the first time they used hidden weapons in a group fight, which seems to be what's happening. Dunno tbh.
I'm pretty lonely in the XW fanclub too

I like the team building though

Guess we're along for the ride, hopefully Wang Juan takes us somewhere worth going!
