You know... the ads in the episodes are pathetically bad. Its so tacky. Can't they make better ones?Edit- I am…
Ads in thai dramas are way more jarring, these ones are honestly barely noticeable once you've been through an emotional scene where the lead is heartbroken but needs to take his handy delicious vitamins, lol.
I think in terms of sadness, probably scarlet heart ryeo if you've seen that. Unfortunately I dropped both because my heart couldn't take it, but the acting is phenomenal and I loved the storyline.
Hey guys? I've been thinking of starting this drama cause I heard it's really good but I heard there is a love…
There isn't any real love triangle. There's a hint of one but it pretty quickly becomes obvious that the mains are very focused on each other. I'm on ep 8 and thoroughly enjoying so far
Really interesting drama. The revenge vibes and growth is perfection. I do feel like the last five episodes dragged a bit and some interspersed episodes could have been condensed down, but all the ends were tied up pretty nicely. If you're looking for a (VERY) light thriller, intrigue, romance, and a well concluded ending, then this will probably fit your bill nicely.
I'm on Ep 23 and I'm now getting confused as to why the male lead is so determined to ruin Duanwu's plans to become…
How I understood it was how his character has consistently been trying to make her stronger since the beginning. His philosophy has always been to build character one must go through the trenches and make it themselves, just like he did. I also think he would rather make it more "difficult" for her and help her silently in the aftermath rather than see someone else do it when he's not around. She's going to have obstacles as a young woman with no monetary background and in his eyes, he's not always going to be around to help her so better to build her character and strength now. Plus, part of me thought that he really just enjoys seeing her succeed even despite the setbacks put in her way.
so this Xu Shi Ki (girl in disguise as man) who was saved by Duan Wu is really bad news, she has no remorse for…
I kind of had hope for her character. She had a lot of potential for growth and there were small glimpses of it, but I ended up being left feeling like she was just very one dimensional. A bit disappointing, especially considering the parallels between her and Duanwu. Two women trying to make it in a corrupt, mans world, but with different methods would have been so much more engaging than the revenge carousel going on rn.
I noticed the break in the story with jade too. I have been wondering why they didn't conclude her carving. Why…
I've noticed there's been some intermitted shotty editing throughout. Kind of feels like they just stuck a door jam in some places and assumed we'd be able to squeeze through to figure out what was happening or that we'd forget the scene we just left.
It's hard to say. Have you watched The Sword and The Brocade with Seven Tan? The story is entirely different,…
So the pacing is a little up and down, and the editing gets a little sketchy during one plotline, but overall does remain really good. I found myself a little disinterested in the multiple plotlines because it just felt like a bunch of bad stuff happening with nothing to grapple onto, but that clears up after they bring the different characters back together. If you get past those episodes though, the serious character development starts happening and it's fantastic. You really have to like politics, vies for power, and mind games though. The majority of this is her fighting the greedy powers that be, and ultimately winning but not without hardships.
Thank you. I was debating paying the money to Hulu to watch it but your comment about unnecessary violence has…
So, this is a very good series. There is a lot of violence, but the way it's portrayed is the whole point. I think it's fascinating to see some viewers (no disrespect to the above review on it, to each their own) condemn the violence Justitia enacts when she does it to balance the scales. The difference between hers and the condemned person's violence is that Justitia's is all shown on screen at once, blood, broken bones, and all, whereas the abuser's is only implied or briefly shown. I think the stark difference of portrayal can make some viewers feel like it's too much, when it's really just an eye for an eye. Each person she hurts horribly did that exact thing to their victim(s), and so she does it back. It really gets nitty gritty with how many killers are shown as the big dark but at the end of the day, they're human and they bleed, and fear the same as everyone else. I thought it was a bit refreshing to see each abuser/murder, etc. be shown exactly what it was like when they terrorized their victims. Definitely not a drama for those that don't like entire scenes devoted to revenge though!
what would you rate this drama so far? (please without bias of any of the actors..)
I'm going to be completely honest and say I love Zhao Lusi as an actress. Her acting has gotten even better here, but that aside, the writing is pretty decent and there's a lot of good subplots happening to keep a casual watcher entertained.
The drama itself is sitting at a sliding spectrum nine for me. I really enjoyed the beginning, I'm feeling towards the middle there's a bit of choppy editing and there's more characters that you follow as it continues, which, for me personally, detracts from some of my enjoyment as my attention span is that of a goldfish who's trying its best.
They are relying on some common angsty tropes regarding the mains, but tbh I can get past that because I know it's necessary for character development. The costumes are fantastic and if you're a fan of gradual obsession love stories, a strong FML, a devoted, smart, yet wholly dumb ML, and found family, then this has all those things. As a whole, the drama so far is really enjoyable and I find myself thinking about it when I'm not watching. As long as it remains consistent, definitely a strong nine or above.
I'm catching up after trying to let some episodes air in advance, and ep eighteen broke my heart. Also the chopped scene where suddenly everything was happening threw me for a loop. I feel like I missed something and now I'm left tearing up π₯²
