Almost a plagiarism of "From Now On, Showtime!" about structure.+ not as fun.
? From now on showtime had a far different backstory. Even if he went a little darkside at her death, it was nothing like this. I like both shows but comparison doesnt seem fair since they are very different tones, aesthetics and themes.
He doesnt have a girlfriend. His friend revealed in their conversation he wears the ring to reject people because he’s traumatized from his first love. Once he figures out the trauma was a misunderstanding, he does try to be with FL, but not in an assertive annoying way. He eventually moves on from his first love with the ML’s sister. Hopefully they keep that. It was a decent arc and aside from some insecurity his presence caused the ML there was never a possibility of the FL and the SML getting together.

I agree they didnt properly lead up to her assassination and I would have gone after Kato. If her internal speech was anything to go by she was trying to cut the head off the snake of Onseong Hospital. Basically I read it as she lost hope after the traumatic events they’d gone through and wanted to use her life to remove some evil. Her speech implied she’d gotten it into her head that it she tried to forge a life with her dude she’d have to close her eyes and do it would be at the expense of all the people like her mother being victimized. So she was telling herself to be brave and do what she thought was right. It fit her more emotional hot headed personality that came to the fore in emotionally stressful scenes earlier in the show.
And while I would have liked to have seen her do it, I imagine mommy picked daughter up and rushed to a body of water to give her the parasite. That fits because mom wants to save her daughter and parasite would have a survival instinct telling it to bail the badly damaged host it was occupying and seek out a healthier one.
Its got a lot of dramatic twists and turns with some secondary characters dying or having less happy endings. The main leads have a very fluffy beginning and ending.
Its a video game so on some level the FL could probably chalk it up to character setting. I really want to read the book to see if when she transmigrated and it was all real, not a game, she forgave and learned to love them all like they show in the drama.

They compressed a ton of arcs from the book into those 13 episodes. Alot of stuff changed, was skipped etc. thats why its not as tight as the first two-thirds of the drama. The book is much more political too with an emphasis on choices the characters make to fix their civil war broken world. Considering how much they had to scrape and string together in new ways to make it still make sense they did a good job. But thats also why they probably feel so out of of place.

Its still early days. Maybe they chose a muted palette to start so when the FL makes her transformation it’ll be more dramatic. Im looking forward to next episode when she does her makeover.

They finished filming in September. So there is a definite second season. I assume netflix will air it too, but look what happened with the arthdal chronicles . We shall have to wait and see.

Its got a lot of surface similarities but her character and the FL are different people. The ex-husband and cheating friend are worse in this story. Actually everyone who was bad is kind of worse in this story. Still the backgrounds of the characters, alot of the side characters, and events are different enough I dont think the two stories can be fairly compared. So long as this one keeps up its good start they will both be very fun reborn vengeance romance adventures.

The FL was kind of a biger change than Akiko. He kept going back for the FL and saving people he wasnt paid to save after meeting her. Kind of like the FL’s speech about fate, he felt pulled into a new direction by the FL. Akiko was same day a different asshole trying to shit on him. If the FL was someone else who didnt save those kids and just got Akiko out, he’d have left without ever really knowing what was going in in that place.
