Was it unconvincing? I liked the heightened realism. It was a vibe. While I can see how it might not appeal to everyone, I enjoyed it.

It is but its well done. The ML pursues the FL and the SML never really figures out his own feelings till almost the end. She doesn’t vacillate between them. Rather she just outgrows her initial unsatisfying crush and embarks on a hilarious, sweetly romantic relationship with the ML.

Glad you tried it out! It honestly could have gone much longer but they streamlined a lot of the plot to good effect to hit 40 episodes.

Its kind of a hard line we force girls to walk in regards to being responsible for men’s feelings. I dont think making her responsible for the choices he makes because of his feelings is fair. It would be one thing if she asked for the help or manipulated him and his father. But she didnt. In fact at the beginning when she wasnt in trouble and he was helping so much she reminded SML it was okay to do his own thing. When he insisted, she respected him and their friendship enough to accept his choice. Later, she was in a bad situation and accepted with gratitude help that was offered. Why he or his dad chose to help her is their business. Saying she has to reject every person who helps her because she cant offer them what they hope to gain is a bit unfair when the help was freely offered, she didnt solicit it, and at no point did the other person (sml and his dad) make their help contingent on her repaying them the way they want.

Yeah, I dont read any of that as shallow or black hearted. But you do and thats totally your right. Are you still able to enjoy the show with an FL you cant stand or will you quit watching? The ML is still awesome.

I thought it was clever of her to try to find new ways to sell her wine and beat the game. Any emotional attachment she’s formed towards the NPCs like her family wouldn't exist for the cousin since she’s plotted to kill and destroy the FL so many times. So while I got the cousin’s pain, that felt truly karmic to me. Why would anyone be respectful or considerate towards you when you’ve actively worked to destroy them? And while its not the cousin’s fault she was programmed this way, the fact is at this point our FL believes she’s an annoying NPC. Just a mini boss she has to win over and take advantage of to progress in the game.

As for the SML. She’s been a good friend to him. She supports him in becoming a doctor, stands up for him when she thinks he’s been taken advantage of (like that family he did chores for that she misunderstood) and accepts his help when he offers. If she rejected all interaction with him just because he may like her (he hasnt explicitly said) thats as cruel as “taking advantage of his feelings.” Truly taking advantage of his feelings would be flirting with him, implying they might be more to motivate him to help her, and than never delivering. She does not do that. She treats him like a best friend and anytime a romantic connection between them is brought up by others makes it clear she does not see their relationship that way. Thats cool given he’s an NPC and she could really indulge in his adoration with very little real world consequence. Instead she respects him like a real person and a true friend.

What line? Its a game character who has actively participated in events that would result in the FL dying. They aren’t real cousins and even if they were, all familial loyalty between them was broken long ago. There is no line save basic human consideration. Im not sure the cousin deserves that.

Maternal cousins can be separated many times over and still be same maternal line.

If it helps, focus on how quick our FL talks back. In alot of toxic family dramas we have main characters who dont speak out due to their position in the family or manners. Meanwhile the toxic characters just continue on being crazy and it feels unreal and frustrating. In this drama it IS unreal because these are characters designed to create roadblocks for the player. And the FL doesnt just take it sitting down. She speaks up and conspires to defeat these mini bosses. The nice thing is while they have quick respawn they tend to come back weaker and more easily defeated once the main goal of separating the families is achieved.

Two day breaks are not a dramas friend.
