Thats a good one. He may somehow thinks he’s his character and only realizes the truth when he wakes up. There is a big gap of time between when he got shot by the arrow vs when the game forced her to pick up his poisoned person.

Yeah. The ML in that is one of my all time favorite actors and he couldnt save that show. I felt it was more a writing issue. What they wanted to convey was cool, but the events they used were all over the place.

Well he may be an NPC that thinks he has responsibilities to the throne or he may be a real world person who thinks shes an NPC or a beta tester who he cant interfere with. At least the separation will allow her perspective of his company to evolve more and vice versa

That was a very odd mix of really competent story telling, relaxing slice of life, romance, family drama, politics and costume historical elements. It had stronger female friendships. There really isnt anything else quite like it although some shows get close.

I found Back from the Brink, Destined, Stay With Me, Oh no Here Comes Trouble, The Lady in the Butcher’s House and Dreams of Splendor comforting post NLB. But most of those weren't available for months.

And none of them were the same tone at all. You are right this show is kind of hitting most of the above that made NLB unique.

Right? Its a total mood that adds an expectation of greater depth and meaning in the story.

Theory 1: NPC character that has an interesting backstory designed to complicate and enrich the players game.

Theory 2: Developer or worker of game testing it and observing our FL‘s experiences.

Theory 3: Another beta tester who appears to be playing a martial arts adventure RPG vs the FL farm sim game.

If it’s Theory 1 he made a comment in episode one about an arrow actually causing him pain. That needs an explanation. Lots of scenes the ML plays it just right for walking the line between this and the other two theories. This is my least favorite theory because of what it means for the ending with chinese censorship what it is.

If it’s Theory 2 that somewhat explains why he doesnt tell FL who he really is but it seems a little cruel as he clearly is becoming attached. Still he cant contaminate the data.

Theory 3 leaves no clear reason why he wouldnt tell her he’s another player unless he doesnt realize she is. And if he doesnt realize it after how flagrantly she’s revealed it, I seriously question if he’s clever at anything other than games.

ML is a really fun character. Its interesting tracking all the clues and changing my mind between the above three theories. :-p

Oh you poor thing. Ive been dreading the two days off but at least I was prepared for it.

They changed the set-up. Its now a VR farm sim game she is beta testing.

Oh. Okay that is a fair complaint. It was a trick but since we weren’t in on it and the execution and reveal were so short, it did feel rushed.

A delightful SML. So far the part is well written and actor is doing a great job of being this likable character who is the ideal close friend who kind of likes you but respects your autonomy as a person. He has a whole sub plot where his dad wants him to take over the family business which he is not well suited to but he wants to do something else. And its done in a way where you like both him and the dad.

Maybe he really is a game character and the “it hurts”comment was related to something else that will be revealed in a flashback? Like a person who is so high up the power chain he’s never been injured before.

Or he is a player who for some reason doesnt realize she’s a player. Although, that seems even more unlikely. She’s not subtle.

Thats a lot of money.

Unclear but its like strongly implied that her best dude friend likes her and the ML is beginning to.

Am I the only one who sometimes reads the ML’s advice as the game coaching her in options for game play? Her maternal family never once came up till they were a viable strategy.

She very much reads as someone whose life has been so bitter she thinks in an aggressively defensive way to protect whats hers and take from anyone who she feels owes her. Which is everyone.

??? Why? What about the ending enraged you? They lived happily ever after being investigative journalists and carrying on the torch of truth from their parents generation. But with more style.

??? They still had money to live on. They had a home and basic resources. They just downsized considerably so no one would target them or be suspicious that they hid some of their previous wealth.

Gah, I wish all episodes were out. The wait to see them away from the family embarking on new adventures is too long. (Less than 24 hours as of this comment :-p )
