Its not strictly romance focused. The FL does date someone else at the beginning but they break up. The ML has a former love who tries to get back with him. No drama from either department in terms of interfering with the main love line because it isnt really established till the very end. Its more watching how and why they fell in love. I liked it.

More like a character driven psychological where sports play a background as the trauma and metaphor for the character’s various difficulties.

It is a hard situation because he doesnt have the power or authority to stop it. However, its the best part of the show! The first night he starts to explain he has only one wife and they will not be having a relationship etc. except he gets interrupted by his new “wife” telling him she has no interest in being his wife and intends to groom him and our FL into a capable couple that can support her in getting a divorce and returning home to pursue her own political dreams. The FL and her new mentor/best friend are awesome together. She’s basically like a sister to both of them and when she does achieve everything she wants, including a divorce, she tells the ML if he ever does anything to disappoint her bestie she’ll come and take the FL away. Basically it took one of the most uncomfortable petty tropes in harem stories and completely turns is on its head.

It wasnt? I feel like Iqiyi didnt show they knew it would be so popular so there wasn't as much lead up. But by the second week they were advertising it pretty strong on the website and apps. Is iqiyi reporting another show as bigger?

Its slow burn because of why they married, their inexperience and various dramatic world events. They are friends by episodes 6-8 with the beginnings of crushes neither recognizes. By the episodes 16-18 they have no intention of divorcing or marrying anyone else. Their first real kiss and the turn in their relationship to an adult marriage is episodes 27-28. You get lots of intimate cuddling, partnership, joking etc. which shows how much they care very early on and it just slowly builds to be bigger, deeper and richer all the way to the end. Its definitely a show where you saw how much they love each other long before they started saying it.
