They have a forced marriage. So married fast. They become friends very quickly but due to inexperience and other factors its very slow burn. That being said you get the feels very early in the show and the wait for their first real kiss has a very epic pay off.

Worth it. Slow burn romance. Builds to be very epic. Unless they 100% deviate from the book it will be a HE. All signs at this stage point to it will be.

If he knows it makes sense he wouldnt tell him if they kept everything that happened in the book. It’ll be interesting to see what the drama keeps there.

Except for the intelligence part I agree. He got himself stuck in a gambling den about to be chopped up. He antagonized the yamen who had control of his friends wellbeing…he wasnt really the brightest to begin with.

That makes sense. Im really surprised they handled it this way. Its well done but a little disappointing given what it was in the book. Still seeing their daughter would be awesome!

Weirdly, Ive felt like her character has noticed his red flag behaviors. Something about the way she acts in scenes reads to me as a person intentionally avoiding something so as not to exacerbate it. Which kind of fits her character’s shown issues. She’d be more interested in calming his psychosis than protecting herself. But she also stopped working for him. I don’t think it was just because of their differences in working philosophies. I was really happy when she did confront him about the recording.

Yes! The writing is so good and than the editing just messes it up. So many semi climactic moments were just left hanging with no sense of resolution. Still, the characters are really interesting and complex enough I believe them as real people. Like the ML’s brother is scummy but they’ve laid the foundation for why, how etc. looking forward to how this all builds and pays off.

He was a political ally of King Liang who rebelled against the last dynasty. If they follow the book there may be more to it. But thats all the show has revealed up to episode 30.

Than he is succeeding at the character. Cause he was very slappable in the book.

I think they are trying to make Fan Yu a less cut and dried villain. In the book he just sucked and LZS took advantage. Here he’s more innocent and inexperienced. So he could go either way. It may also be censorship. Some of the bad stuff Fan Yu did in the book would have been uncomfortable to watch.
