Title Joseon Exorcist Spoiler
I can already tell this drama is going to be full of stupid characters and plots. The king allucinating and killing…
The people standing there is fine. They were already being controlled by the Fallen Angel Azazel and it was only a matter of time they are possessed. Remember, this is not a zombie show, this is a show about demon possession, and an invasion of Joseon led by the Fallen Angel Azazel. In other words, those humans already under the control of Azazel remained humans because Azazel is playing a game with the king.

Noticed how he kept telling himself that he was only stopping any new undead? He fully understands what is at stake. This was later confirmed when he was willing to end the life of his youngest son.

Also, note that they are using a "disease" as the form of possession. A "disease" that can be transferred if one gets contaminated through blood. It was why even the scratch from his youngest son was enough to turn him into something else.

As for the son just standing there doing nothing is also understandable. He is a pamphered kid after all. I've seen first-hand what it is like for pamphered kids when they go out to the world.

However, what was stupid was the eunuchs doing nothing but beg. Their job was to protect the prince with their lives, if his life is in obvious danger, all social norms and palace rules are thrown out the window to keep the prince safe. Those dumb eunuchs should've carried or dragged him out of danger.

Them being afraid for their lives because they "touched" the prince doesn't make any sense because they'll be killed by the very strict king even if they survived. It even makes no sense at all because they eventually threw themselves to be killed by the undead soldier. There just is no justification with those eunuchs. It simply was the writer using stupidity and unrealistic scenarios to setup a plot, just how what happened in L.U.C.A. when an experienced detective foolishly called the police station that's hunting her.

> Second, I don't know why but I find that a lot of western actors in Asian dramas their acting are tend to be…
Yeah, when I saw it, I was surprised too. It is also weird for Joseon to be involved in it considering how the dynasty is strictly Confucianism.

Sure, at first they were tolerant and it was only later that they removed all non-Confucianism religions but in this show, they seem to be playing a very active role.

In a way, if this "invasion" is being led by the Fallen Angel Azazel, then I guess it does make sense to have the Vatican involved. If you've read the books of Rick Riordan, the author behind the Percy Jackson series, he also used a similar approach into mashing-up different "religions". Even Neil Gaiman, author of The American Gods, used the same: angels, fallen angels, demon, rituals, etc. only applies to within that same religion, their believers, and exorcism and other rituals must be done by the same religion. Since Azazel is a Fallen Angel mentioned in the Book of Enoch, then only the believers of that religion will work against him.

Also … totally not related to the story … I've noticed how recent Korean dramas are using Catholicism a lot, especially those filmed in 2020 and 2021. Prior to that, they used Buddhism (reincarnation) frequently. I don't know what's happening in the entertainment industry but trends doesn't happen this way--it was forced or influenced by something (or someone). I'd probably attribute this series's use of the Vatican priests, and Azazel, to that.

A lot of korean historical dramas lifted inspiration from the lives of past real kings/princes but twisted a little…
Exactly.

My biggest pet peeve in this drama is the priest. First, why does he have sleek and short hair? Doesn't he suppose…
> Second, I don't know why but I find that a lot of western actors in Asian dramas their acting are tend to be stiff (and even cringe-worthy somehow).

It's not easy to find an experienced foreign actor in your own country. In addition to that, they are depicting what people from the Joseon Era would have thought of Westerners.

Remember, the story is being told from the perspective of Joseon people not Westerners. If you've seen the film "The Great Wall", even though they hired veteran Western actors, their characters were still depicted from the viewpont of ancient Chinese, to the point that modern Westerners hated the Western actors for "agreeing" to such roles.

If the setting was set in recent eras or the modern day, then that's when we're going to have issues. I for one wouldn't agree to such depiction. :)

But again, it's set in the distant past where everyone had to travel great distances and spend months to years to travel just to see other cultures and people.

My biggest pet peeve in this drama is the priest. First, why does he have sleek and short hair? Doesn't he suppose…
First, the notion that ancient men had long hairs is actually a stereotype. There were and are men with long hairs just as there were and are women with short hairs, however, the most common for men then and now is short (while for women is long), this is especially true the farther you go West. There are actually few cultures wherein it is culturally "required" for men to have long hairs, like for example in China, Japan, and Korea.

Secondly, Vatican is in Rome, the seat of the old Roman Empire. The Roman Empire (and the Greek Empire before it, if I remember correctly), it is respectable and customary for men to have short hairs. Of course, the priests of the Vatican will adopt what their ancestors practiced.

(Oh, and before you say that the Hebrew people like Jesus Christ and the 12 Apostles had long hairs, it's not true either. The long haired "Jesus Christ" that is common was actually based on someone's son who had long-hair as a model. If you study history, real Hebrew men had short hairs, especially since having a long hair for men is a mark that they are doing their vows (I'm not going to go deep about this topic).)

Third, the setting of the drama is in Joseon Dynasty which was between 1392 and 1897. All the more reason long hair for men is less common especially if you are in a position.

I hope it helped. ^_^

Since the screenwriter for Joseon Exorcist is the same main screenwriter for Mr Queen, when I read that Knetz…
> And I realized this is the second time the screenwriter, Park Kye Ok use the real royal Korean historical figures and twist their real historical life. First one was King Cheoljong in Mr Queen, second one is Prince Yangnyeong in Joseon Exorcist LOL

"twist their historical life"? So, writers are not allowed to use historical figures to write FICTION?

Have you read the book or watched the live-action adaptation entitled "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"? Did the writer make a mistake in "twisting" the historical life of Abraham Lincoln?

Episode 1
What's with the inaction of the eunuchs to protect the prince? Their ultimate job is to protect the prince, in situations where his life is in obvious and crystal clear danger, his safety is the priority and not social/palace norms.

It was even made more unrealistic when the king was very strict and willing to kill his own. The more reason that the prince's safety matters more than social/palace rules. In addition to that, they are willing to die anyway, so what were they afraid of if they break social norms and palace rules if it was keeping the prince safe?

That scene doesn't make any sense at all.

I hate it when writers use stupidity to setup a plot. Reminded me of L.U.C.A. when they used stupidity to move forward the story.

Where can I watch this all 21 episodes ?
The 21 episodes listed here in MDL only have 10 minutes per episode.

Elsewhere, the 21 episodes (10 mins each) were compiled into a 30-min per episode, which ended up with 6 episodes total.

So if you've seen the 6 episodes, that's it, there's nothing else after it.

This is very uncomfortable : a singer falling in love with his stalker. Does anyone else have a problem with this?…
To answer your question, I don't have a problem with a celebrity falling in love with whoever. As the show stated in the end, even Grim Reapers are people. Celebrities are people too. :)

Besides, she isn't a stalker at all, she was a Grim Reaper and she was tricked into going back to life. Everything was planned without her knowledge, whoever was in the "VIP", they knew how she will act and how her actions will place the celebrity into a position of dying.

So, if there is something I have a problem with, it is to whoever are in the "VIP". They are dictating what people can and can not do. No one should. Grim Reapers are people too. How much more Celebrities?

As IU's song BBIBBI said …

Brilliant regarding Ki Tae has been talking to his future self all this time. I always wondered since episode…
Yep, something is fishy with him. He's the only person who's benefitting from all the changes … and he knows exactly what to do.

I'm starting to think Seo Ki Tae is the one behind the time travel celphone. He keeps on restoring JC Telecom and its 5G Network.

Could it be Seo Ki Tae was receiving orders from himself in the future? His future-self told him exactly what to do to achieve the future they need? For example, his future-self probably knew they need to give 4 time-travel celphones to his right-hand woman, his daughter, Lee Jin Woo, and supposedly Vice-President, because they need the changes these four people will do to achieve the future they need.

All throughout the series, they haven't shown us anything beyond the present. I'm thinking that the time period beyond the capability of the time-travel celphones is fixed.

For example: The 2019 calls from the future Vice-President stopped after Lee Jin Woo connected to the 2020 Seo Jung In. The 2019 time-travel celphone of the Vice-President and Kim Young Joo both died in 2019. Only the phones of Lee Jin Woo and Seo Ki Tae remained active in 2020, and we know that their phones also eventually died in 2020.

If so… then anything after 2020 is probably fix. If there is another set of time-travel celphones in 2021, their future is based on the results of the changes of the 4 other time-travel celphones. Just as the reality of Seo Ki Tae and Lee Jin Woo changing the past from 2020 was based from the changes made from 2019 calls between the Vice-President and Kim Young Joo.

That makes it possible that there is another set of time-travel celphones, probably Seo Ki Tae have one too and whoever contacted him from the future was from 2021.

Practically a movie, 2 hours and 20 minutes running time. I would say that by approaching the story from an episodic method, they were able to tell the story in a simple and yet very touching way. If they turned this into a movie, it wouldn't have the same impact as the expectations and requirements for one is far different.

I can't believe I only discovered this today. I will never forget this story for the rest of my life.

can some one explain ending scene
The "snow hiking scene" where his older brother was on the brink of death was first shown in episode 1. That scene and the last scene in episode 20 are one and the same. The only difference, they only revealed whose shadow it was who found him in the last episode.

That is the "final timeline".

The "first timeline" was when his brother was found dead in a river bank holding the incense. He either did not have a chance to hike or he successfully went down from the mountain, then died in the river bank for unknown reasons.

In the "final timeline", Sun Woo eventually still found the 9 incense sticks but he doesn't have any reason to use it. Hence, in a not-so-distant future, he used the stick to save his brother from dying up in the mountains.

There is no time loop. If ever there was a time loop, it was broken when Sun Woo left the two incense sticks in the past. That was the point when the "past" suddenly became the "present". Remember how the past started to have its own "mind" and then the 2013-present just receives it as a memory? The two 1993-past became an active 1993-present. Because he left the two sticks in 1993, the two years got partially disconnected. Suddenly there are two "present time". This is actually a theory about time travel to solve the grandfather paradox.

in the ending, when sun woo finds his brother in the snow, he looked a lot older. is that sun woo from the future…
In the new timeline, his brother went to Nepal to go hiking. He was saved by his little brother who came from the future.

If I remember correctly, this was the scene in episode 1 where a shadow showed up but was never revealed. After that snow scene, his brother died in the bank of a stream holding a stick. Different from the snow scene.

The final scene in the last episode and the snow scene in the first episode were both from the final timeline.

The first timeline was when his brother died holding the incense stick in a river bank.

In other words, in this new timeline, Sun Woo found the incense sticks again but instead of using it immediately, he did not because he did not have any reason to do so.

I wish young Ha Ni would just listen to older Ha Ni for once & do as she says. Her ignorance really irritates…
That's exactly what her character is. If it's making you react with her character, it simply means they did a great job in writing her character and the actress'es acting of her character. ;P

Why do I feel like they're tryign to pit us into thinking Ba Reum is the killer like how they did with the doctor?…
Yep, it's too fast to reveal who's who. In creative writing, when something is revealed too early in the story, it is almost always a misdirection.
