FoF OST is still the best. Nothing has topped it yet for me, sadly not even VoS.
So far I quite like several of the VOS OST, but only one stood out for me which is Zhou Shen’s. And that not yet released BGM that sounds like a Buddhist chant.
I stumbled upon Fangs of Fortune’s theme song (大梦归离) last year and it became one of my favorite songs in my playlist even though I never watched the drama. After seeing how much I’m loving GJM's Veil of Shadows, I can’t wait to watch it! 💗
Today’s episode was so good! WSG and WWY is truly an old married couple... the depth, the tenderness, the sincerity 🥹🥹🥹. And in this episode, it was also clear to me that JL has feelings for LWY. These last few episodes have woven both relationships together so naturally and smoothly, and it really touched me 🥹
A very good, inspiring drama with a steady, gripping story from the first until the last episode, which I find…
I understand the production need to go this way due to censorship. The scene on the rooftop when Xiao Lan is fading away is because the 2026 Xiao Lan is going to wake up. In the last scene, when Xiao Lan and Zhou Cheng meet again and Zhou Cheng calls her name just like he promised that he will find her again, I think they both remember their “dream” / “alternate life.”
A very good, inspiring drama with a steady, gripping story from the first until the last episode, which I find quite rare since some dramas start to drag in the middle or the story fell apart. Incredible performance by Zhou Ye and Zhai Xiao Wen and also other supporting cast, which made the story flow flawlessly. I really like the 80s–early 90s set! 💜💙💛
This is such an underrated drama, very well made! I am now up to ep 28 and especially like Liu Fen's character development. The story is inspiring and empowering, especially Xiao Lan, and makes me feel like I can be successful just like her 💪🌟 PS: I’m obsessed with Xiao Lan’s earrings. They’re so pretty and colorful!
Unpopular opinion (up to ep 32): not sure if it’s the long village arc, character development, or plot pacing, but I kinda lost the thrill I used to feel whenever the ML and FL are together. At this point, even if FL ends up as a general without ML or anyone it wouldn’t bother me. The last few episodes also feel kinda choppy, like scenes just pop up with no clear build up. That being said, it’s still a really good drama with a great cast and solid acting.
So far Qi Min and Qian Qian get all the memorable, beautifully shot kisses (bath scene kiss, underwater kiss, upside down kiss). Remembering that iconic “horseback kiss” in Blossom, I am holding out hope to see Xie Zheng and Chang Yu get better kiss scenes as well in future episodes 🥹
I’m happy to see the princess again. The actress looks so pretty in this drama. I didn’t even recognize her from SOKP. Her styling and makeup there really didn’t do her justice.
This comment section will probably be closer to 50K once the drama is done. For perspective, Blossom is still…
Veil of Shadows already has 109K comments and the drama hasn’t even aired yet. Honestly, I’m curious how that’s even happening, people have just flooded the comment section.
Qi Min killing servants left and right without any regard for human life reminds me of Xia Jing Yan in Fated Hearts. Qi Min’s backstory involving Bao'er also feels similar to Xia Hou Dan in How Dare You. Xia Jing Yan’s story arc leading to his end was handled so well, and I expect nothing less from this director.
Sui Yuan Qing’s psychotic smile and behavior remind me a lot of Xue Yang in The Untamed. I just hope he gets the death he deserves.
Qi Min is completely beyond redemption at this point, but I still can’t help feeling excited whenever he appears on screen, wondering what lunatic, crazy, unpredictable thing he’ll do next. There must be something wrong with me 😳 Deng Kai’s performance is superb! Kong Xue Er and the child actor Wu Jia Jun are great as well. Deng Kai and Kong Xue Er look really good together. I hope they can reunite in another historical drama.
I didn’t know that scraping (gua sha) apparently comes from China. It’s very popular in my country too. I personally can’t stand it and have only tried it once in my life, but my parents and my sister love it and often do it when they feel unwell. I remember we even had some old Chinese coins with a hole in the middle, just like in the drama. They would apply cajuput oil to the skin before scraping. I can’t believe they managed to make a scene like this somewhat romantic 😊
My take on the ending:
PS: I’m obsessed with Xiao Lan’s earrings. They’re so pretty and colorful!
He is Guan Wen (关文). His name is listed under "Yanzhou Army Camp"
