The FL and SML have been married for 8 years. The SML is ambiguous with the SFL. He says he just sees her like a sister, but he neglects the FL for her. The ML's mother also bribes the FL to divorce him. The FL is already inclined to do so. Once she makes up her mind, she doesn't waiver, even though she still feels hurt and sad, she puts herself first. She had been working for the SML but quits and applies for the job as secretary to the ML. Over time their respect and appreciation of each other grows. Unfortunately the ending feels like it stops 2/3rds of the way through the story. The FL has been thinking the ML is gay and at the very end he says he is not and is interested in her. So, it feels obvious that they will get together, but we don't get to see the last bits of progression towards it. Still, definitely worth a watch!

I loved the natural progression between the leads! Two people who don't know each other (no childhood connection either), who start running across each other, and go from respecting each other, to more. It's specially clear from the ML side that his respect grows to admiration to a romantic inclination. The leads have great chemistry even though there aren’t any kisses.

And the acting is fantastic. Chen Si's sardonic smile appears frequently and is captivating! The FL character is mentally strong and clever. The ML assists her a few times but she also gets herself out of situations. So by the end, when someone asks if he's going to help her out while she deals with a scene with the SML and SFL, he says no need. He just smiles proudly knowing that she orchestrated the current scene and is quite capable of completing it to her own satisfaction. I could tell that the FL in turn appreciates the ML assistance and protection throughout the story but also appreciates that a lot of times he asks her before doing anything and respects her decisions.

As @rahminapuspa4805 commented on youtube: "this is great story.... love that FL is smart, resolute but still have fragile sid e... love that scumbag husband is not potrayed completely evil, just a scumbag with fickle heart,... and of course Chen Si is great...he is super cool but not cold, attractive without being too flirty.... The script is great...not new plot but delivered very well."

Great acting. Very melodramatic plot. The story wasn't my cup of tea but I ended up watching most of the scenes with the lead actors and fast-forwarded the rest.

Hi, sorry I didn’t see your comment until now! I just rewatched it recently and he kind of has the inkling/suspicion it might be her in the second half and asks her about it a couple times. Part of the story is the FL making up crazier and crazier things (many at her friend's urging) to cover things up. So at least there's a purpose to the delay. The ML gets confirmation right at the end. On the plus side, he never mistakes anyone else for being with him that night so there's no mistaken or usurped-identity issues with this plot.

I give this one a 10/10 (I rate vertical dramas on their own sliding scale). It was my favorite vertical drama of 2024.

In full screen view the very good English subtitles are viewable. They have added constant background music (and some unnecessary sound effects), but at least it changes often to match the moods of scenes and doesn't drown out the actor's voices. I found it a little annoying but got used to it.
