I really liked the first 2-3 eps and the clown. Zoro was good too. But I didn't like anything else. I actually…
I think expectations might also play a role in how much you can enjoy it. It would be more appropriate to compare it to a more goofy and wacky version of Pirates of the Caribbean, rather than Wednesday where the tone and aesthetic are completely different.
This series does indeed embraces the bright, colorful and animated world. It's quite unique and a lot of fun but might not be for everyone, and that's ok.
They will adapt Alabasta, but seing the rhitm that the live action has is difficult to imagine alabasta taking…
A B-plot could indeed be the marines Smoker & Tashigi as they investigate what happens in Alabasta & the Strawhats. Also, they could expand on the places the Strawhats visit, similar to the fillers from the anime, to build up how much the civil war has affected the kingdom.
As a quick reminder, you can check the 8th movie "Episode of Arabasta: The Desert Princess and the Pirates".

@mikkan, @9Nine From what I counted it's more or less like this: s1 95 chapters - 45 anime episodes s2 59 chapters - 34 anime episodes s3 62 chapters - 34 anime episodes (not counting filler) s4 85 chapters (Jaya 19 + Skypiea 66) - 52 anime ep. (Jaya 9 + Skypiea 43)
Of course, the content (dialogue, lore, or just action) matters a lot on how they adapt it.
Since Alabasta has a lot of fighting in the later half they could either have less episodes, or if they choose to have 8 episodes, they could introduce a B-plot or expand some things to make it work.
I don't think it makes sense, thematically, to start a new arc. Alabasta is a good ending point, similar to Arlong Park arc from last season.
Does anyone know what arc(s) they might cover in this season?? I mean, just Alabasta or more? Cuz Alabasta seems…
We don't know for sure yet but it's probably going to be only Alabasta. Most of the cast has been revealed, they are currently filming, and are only from Alabasta arc.
No need to watch the anime before. They have actually done a very good job at adapting it for newcomers. Watch season 1 first so you can fully follow the story in this 2nd season.
Zoro is the director fav huh... why are his fight scenes everywhere, while other has barely.
It's probably also because fighting scenes with swords are easier to do in live action than the more fantastical ones like Luffy's stretching and his fight vs 100 agents was a highlight so it kinda overshadows the other fights that did happen.
I wish the actor of Dr. Hiriluk had an active social media, the man deserves his flowers. I hope he sees the reception…
I think Mark Harelik as Dr. Hiriluk had the best performance! Of course, the others were great too but both the story and his performance were the best!
they did tho.... didn't he nearly fell and luffy caught him with his teeth....?
I was referring to the scene in chapter 137. When the giant rabbits caused an avalance and the three were sliding down and about to crush on something. Sanji sacrificed himself to save Nami and Luffy and that's why he was injured. Luffy then climbed the mountain carrying both of them. The scene you mention did happen in the original too but is Luffy saving Sanji.
I really liked the scene where Sanji jumps in front of Vivi when she get's shot. It's such a quick moment but it reveals his self-sacrificing character. It's nice to have since they couldn't include the scene where he sacrifices himself to save Luffy and Nami from an avalanche.
It's the green haired guy that interacted with Nami and Luffy in Ep1. In the manga, we first see him in a way later arc where we see in a flashback his presence in Loguetown, but for the live action they have included him at present.

He is Luffy's father, Monkey D. Dragon.
