... next project will be Naruto Live Action. *gigless*Thanks Netflix!
Well, Lionsgate secured the rights to the Naruto franchise on 2015 and it seems they have a Movie in the works. So who knows we might actually get to see it in some years. 😁
I agree. It is to wonder how it happened to add it here. I have suggested a good number of other series and films…
Someone else also mentioned some time ago they tried to add One Piece and it was rejected but it seems the rules changed, and co-production are allowed now. There are some other co-produced series here too.
While I enjoy it, something about this still feels like a high budget fan project or something like that. Maybe…
If you think about it some of them are fans so it's indeed a fan project 🤭
The different style might be one reason it feels like that. Most series that we are used to are quite realistic and darker (even the ones featuring superpowers) while this one leans closer to cartoonish and colorful and embraces some absurd looking things from the original like a phone snail, the outfits etc.
a place here all 4 seas meet and has plenty of rare flora and fauna to offer
It's Sanji's nickname from the manga where Zeff calls him 'little eggplant'.
From an online search I found this: In Japanese it's chibinasu (little eggplant) and it's basically a just a dumb endearment/nickname for a dumb little kid. The reason it’s weird is more because it’s weird to seriously call an adult that, since chibi basically means ‘little kid.’ But it’s also worth noting that 1. eggplants are considered lucky in Japan due to their connection with the hatsuyume/first dream belief and 2. one reason for this is because the word for eggplant, nasu (the same word used in Sanji’s nickname), sounds the same as the verb 成す/nasu, which basically means ‘achieving something great.’
I find it funny how this week it was impossible to scroll social media without posts with OP ratings and ppl saying…
I think most of the hate comes from before the release as many people were saying there is no way this will be good, why does this even need to be made etc. At best, almost everyone (including me) were at least sceptical about it and had low expectations seing how many other adaptations failed and knowing how hard it will be to translate the One Piece world and characters to live action.
After the release there are still people hating it and complaing about the changes made with some even refusing to see it just becasue it’s an adaptation but they are the minority.
The majority reacted positively (with good reason) and that's why you don't see so many haters in most places. Even those who have complains they can agree that it was a decent show and appreciate the effort and love put into making it.
It's done in a way that has kept the important parts but changed enough to feel like something fresh so even existing fans can enjoy and discover something different and not just be a rewatch.
The style is quite unique so that could be the reason it seemed that way but some of the fighting scenes seemed…
Ah yes, they did show some blood but not as much as in the manga. I thought they would go for more of it after seeing Zoro's fight with Mr.7 in the first episode.
I am an avid fan of the anime and manga and never ONCE have I ever shipped Zoro and Nami. But this adaption had…
Someone was a definitely a ZoroxNami shipper in the production team. 🤭
Aside from joking, they had good chemistry but I think the reason is that they had more screen time together than other members as they were introduced early. They were the 'serious' team that would react to Luffy's antics so they bonded over that. If we get a season 2 we should see more interactions between all the members.
Seriously, i don't think this more than above average. Actors did well but story is done well here too but at…
They had to cover a lot of material and it was initially scheduled for 10 episodes but they reduce it to 8 probably for budget reasons. It would have indeed been better with more episodes to give some arcs the room they needed to breathe and have more impact. At least with the fast pacing it didn't feel boring as something was always happening. I think the comedy was fine. Maybe they could add a little more but if they overdid it it might come out as too silly.
I didn't like how Arlong looked in the trailer probably because I couldn't help but compare him with the anime but he looks better in the series. He fits well with the overall feeling and aesthetic that the live action has. The actor plays him really good too.
its been several days since the release does anyone knows how the series is doing in term of popularity?
It does really well and I hope it does even better so we can get more seasons and bigger budget. Though we still need at least 2 weeks to see how this will go and if it keeps increasing. After some research I think one other series we can compare it is The Witcher: Season 2. They had similar 'Hours Viewed' based on the statistics from Netflix. But of course that was s2 which mean people were already familiar with it from s1.
The story arcs in blue are considered fillers. I suggest you actually watch these ones as they are quite good: G-8 Arc (Ep 196-206) Ocean's Dream Arc (Ep 220-224)
The Warship Island Arc (Ep 54-61) and Post-Arabasta Arc (Ep 131-135) were pretty good too but since you are on Ep150 I guess you have already seen them.

If you find some time, I suggest giving it a try.

I used the 'Hours Viewed' and not the 'Views' since that's newlly added and the older ones don't have it officially in Netflix global top 10 site.

I have added in a spoiler some statistics.
