This is one of the dramas that was added to my PTW list, because I like the genre and it didn't disappoint. It's visually stunning, with beautiful costumes and locations. The story was built nicely, getting more and more interesting as it progressed. I also liked the characters. First of all, the FL and the ML are opposites, but at the same time are a great match. The progression of their relationship as well as their individual growth is portrayed really well. There is a multitude of endearing characters to root for. All in all, I enjoyed watching this drama a lot.
We are moving into MingYe and SangJiuโs arc. Actually re-watching this, I wonder how it would be like if they…
While I think having the same actors was a good way of showing us that it's them experiencing the life of MY and SJ, I actually always wondered why they never showed what the original MY and SJ looked like.

It's really sad how quickly everyone labels TTJ as malicious. Even YQY calls him malicious, even though he knows full well that it's his own emperor who started the war and it's his own emperor who's suspecting his own generals and ministers. Just because TTJ managed to turn the situation around with all the means at his disposal, which includes demons, suddenly he's considered at fault. The hypocricy is disgusting.
One of the sequences I love in this episode is TTJ and LSS's conversation in the hut. LSS is again confronted…
I agree that both LYX and BL are great in that scene, but what's even more impressive for me is that they are both great at really dramatic, big moments as well as much quieter and emotional ones. The chemistry between them helps as well obviously, but their talent also shines through.

Episode 9 is definitely among my favourites. While both LSS and TTJ still insist that they have no feelings for each other, it's becoming increasingly clear that they do.

A very eventful episode.
LSS saying she can't dance and then mesmerising TTJ with her dancing never gets old.
Lan An is such a hypocrite. Calling him cold blooded and ruthless, because he doesn't consider her and Ying Xin special , while not even considering that betrayal from someone you trusted cuts much deeper than people who don't mean anything to you. At the same time, she seems to have no problem betraying someone who she herself admitted to have considered a son. Who's the real ruthless and cold blooded person? It's not the most pleasant scene to watch/rewatch, but at least she gets what she deserves very quickly.
Watching the snow ball fight knowing the heartbreak still to come is a little bittersweet
He's definitely already attached. It started very early in the previous episodes already, but the poor thing doesn't even know what feelings are and what it all means. It's actually heartbreaking to see that the tiniest affection from her side, fake as it may be in the beginning, has already affected him this much. I think that shows that despite the fact that no one has ever shown that much care for him and he himself has always believed that he was inherently unlikable and fated to be despised, he still held out hope that someone at some point will like/love him. He doubts her and hesitates, but at the same time can't stop his growing affection for her.
Couldn't agree more. This was definitely the best he's looked in a drama so far.
LSS pretending to be an expert, but we all know she herself doesn't know what she's doing playing with feelings.
