I had a drama slump for quiet some time and finally I came out of it thanks to "Love Next Door". So grateful to…
JSM (and I am a fan) was given an absolute crap script to work with in MMH and she couldn't rescue it. It was garbage on a whole different level and the ending is a notorious dud.
I do have issues with LND but it's not nearly as problematic. Here I'm appreciating the acting and the chemistry between the actors... I just feel like it's not translating to convincing relationships between their characters and that's got to be on the director.
Let's see. Things that we hoped to have after episode 8: FL and ML have articulated their feelings coherently Interfering ex is held at bay Has developed central theme that is actually funny Plausible disease for a woman around 30 (I mean, if they absolutely must make them sick) Doesn't seek comedy value in domestic violence
Unexpected result: DNA Lover is a mile ahead and better entertainment than LND. I did not see that coming.
well I guess next week we can expect that her evil twin will suddenly appear bc this is def a soap opera
I suppose that would explain why every character and every relationship feels like a low-grade train wreck. Even worse, those two men are now giving off an Oh My Ladylord vibe. That is not a compliment.
I found it to be one of the worst. The heavy lifting is from the actors, every one is top notch, may it be the…
The story was rather conventional and belonged in a lesser drama, both for the lack of imaginative twists and for the excess of violence. The problem remains that this screenwriter can't write male characters well and they're left behind rather than credibly supporting the leads. No amount of first-class acting can fix that.
To me jg seems their emotional growth for each other stopped when she left at 20. Even though years have passed,…
Understood. But I do find that disconnect a bit jarring at times, like the story goes well beyond the flashbacks and ends up lurching in and out of an alternate reality in which they didn't grow up.
I lasted until episode 4. This series has a checklist of every single city girl in the country trope and is determined to give every single one of them maximum airtime. I can't spend half an hour on another constipation/outhouse joke. Plus the FL was obviously cast for her stunning ability to whine and every conversation was held at a volume like they were at sea in a gale.
It got old pretty damn fast. If there's a sweet romance somewhere in the future that's great but I don't have the patience to suffer through any more poorly done crappy tropes.
I agree! And yes, he's a Catholic priest. The character gives me totally creepy vibes. 🤔 ...but that might be…
I feel like I'm dating myself just by recognizing The Thorn Birds. But yes, that is it. I'll also agree with the view that this is on the weird side, though. It has more than a bit of a hentai vibe.
I know commenting about this here, has no effect, but I just want to vent...The subs translation of otaku to nerd,…
They probably had this debate in the translation group. I'd much rather have had "geek" instead of "nerd." I would not go for "otaku" as is. Even if a loanword is precise, Korean and English may not retain the same nuances from the donor language.
Not quite as grown-up as The Atypical Family but way more mature than Welcome to Waikiki. Probably the funniest…
They're similarly irreverent and over the top at times. Good Manager is an underdog comedy within the framework of a conventional financial drama. Gaus is a self-aware send-up of office dramas and office romances.
You're not. I figure if you start with something like Moon So-ri's back catalogue you'll very quickly end up down a rabbit hole with more skin than plot.
Okay, I don't do period dramas and was paying no attention but after that headline I'm gonna have to watch it. No such thing as bad publicity, right? 😂
Yes, character driven and Lee Bo-young's acting is getting better with age. And with that it has a very high binge factor. However, in the end it's all character and no plot and every slimy sycophant is treated like a sad princess by the writers. Strongly in its favour, though, the fact that nobody gets stabbed, shot, run over, or beaten up in a dark alley.
I'm a bit torn about having so many green flags and strong female characters on one side and letting all the villains be men on the other.
If watching food get wasted upsets you you should just stay clear of this show altogether.
Is it worth watching? Is it a happy ending?I watched the first half of the movie and not sure eif I should continue,,…
You should probably drop it. If you need a happy ending to appreciate a legend like Kim Hye-soo at the top of her game I don't think that this series will suit you.

QED, sister, right?

You are hereby sentenced to watch all of What's Wrong with Secretary Kim.
I'm watching it for the second couple.

For pure laughs it's Gaus, hands down.
