So the official genre isn't romance, but before i watch this I want to know:Is there any romance between Lee Jun…
There are definetly hinting at it. At this point they have some sweet and romantic moments. At least in my opinion. But it is not the main focus so it might be a slow burn... Those two have great chemistry!
I mean lets wait and see. Maybe that is a hurdle Yeong Rye and Jong Hui have to experience to realize their friendships is worth way more than Jae Pil's half cooked "love". We have still 3 episodes left for that to happen. Then we will see if the friendship is truly the main focus.
PS: Jong Hyun is so precious. Hopefully he still has a chance with Yeong Rye at the end.
I fell down a rabbit hole and landed in my own wonderland where the SML ends up with the FL. So here are my interpretations for all the undercover symolism in this drama.
Colour symbolism: 1. Yeong Rye buys the pastel orange roses for Jae Pil. They are called "Shy first love". In the next scene we can see Jeong Hyeon in a pastel orange suit. 2. He is the one to gift her roses. Red and pastel orange Roses (!). Symbolizing the transition between a shy first love to a deep and mature love. Into direct romantic interest. 3. In the preview we can see, that Jeong Hyeon gives Yeong Rye a drink in a pastel orange colour (!). Quickly Jae Pil exchanges the drink with the drink he bought. The drink is in a green colour. Green might symbolize his envy and jealousy in context of Jeong Hyeon and his fear to lose control over the situation... and losing Yeong Rye. Might symbolize as well, that he only acts in jealousy. At least at this point in the story. In contrast Jeong Hyeon's feelings are pure.
Daddy Long Legs: Is a refernce to the book Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster. In the novel the guy Daddy Long Legs, always supports the female protagonist. Without pressuring her and wanting something in return. A mature kind of love. They end up together in the book (!). Yeong Rye calls Jeong Hyeon her Daddy Long Legs. Twice! After seven years, she still wants him to be her Daddy Long Legs. Why would the writers/directors make this reference if it's without a hint to their potential lovestory?
Gifted Shoes: Jung Hui still has the shoes, Jae Pil gifted her. It's obvious that there is still unfinished business. The three of them have to speak openely for everything to be resolved. There is a lot of underlying pressure. I'm sure Jung Hui will not be entirely happy with her new mom. She has to emanzipate herself from her, otherwise she will loose her sense of self. I think this is going to play a huge part in the next episodes. In the preview Jeong Hyeon analyzes the friendship of the three and he senses the underlying tension and says "The calm before the storm"
Friendship the main focus: Yeong Rye and Jung Hui's friendship is wonderful and emotional. I hope the message of this drama is, that nothing can come between this friendship. Jae Pil included. Those three... their friendship and growth is what counts, not the romance.
Obvious choice at this point: I know I am interpreting a lot into indirect symbolism. I know the obvious scenes point to a romance between Jae Pil and Yeong Rye. But my heart only wants to see the friendship between Jong Hui and Yeong Rye grow, their happiness. Potentially Yeong Rye and Jeong Hyeon as endgame. That would be the cherry on top.
A theory: This drama is all about friendships. They are showing us all of the details of the love triangle to show us that friendship wins in the end. The most touching thing in this drama are all the platonic relationships. Yeong Rye, Jung Hui and Han Jae Pil might realize in the end, that they don't have to be romantically involved. Their friendship will live on. Maybe with different partners for all three. For Yeong Rye is Jeong Hyeon a better romantic match. He is probably going to be more upfront about his feelings and will be able to provide the secure Love for her. As for Jong Hui, Yeong Shik would be a good romantic match. That's just what I think at the moment.
Soo I can't be delulu. I mean right after Yeong Rye bought the pastel orange flowers Jeong Hyeon shows up in a pastel orange suit. And with Daddy Long Legs. This must be intentional! Not a very commen color in a suit. They are trying to tell us something. Maybe foreshadowing. Don't get me wrong Yeong Rye and Jae Pil are actually cute. But it's too on the nose. But I feel like Yeong Rye and Jeong Hyeon could be a deeper and more long term pairing. My heart beats for Jeong Hyeon. Jong Hui and Yeong Rye's brother would suit each other as well. This drama is doing a lot to me. So many characters I love. I was super involved in this episode. I hope they take a different turn than other kdramas. That friendship between male and female characters can exist.
And yes, I cried when Yeong Rye and Jong Hui saw each other.
honestly? not to praise kim jung-hyun, but it is clear who is the better actor, at least compared to heo nam-jun.…
And I think he has better chemistry with Kim Da Mi too. He is really good at subtle acting and his eyes are very expressive. Their acting styles really suit each other.
Mmh they tried to mislead us before. I honestly don't think Yeong Rye and Jae Pil are together. They might just be really close friends and get teased about it by her coworker. At this point I'm actually team Yeong Rye x Jeong Hyeon and Jong Hui x Jeong Shik. They still owe us an explanation for the drastic time jump. I knew it was going to happen but it still felt sudden. I want to see Yeong Rye and Jong Hui together as friends again.
you rated my id is gangnam beauty a 9 and twinkling watermelon a 6.5. interesting
Well I was younger when I watched My ID is Gangnam Beauty and rated it higher back then. Twinkling Watermelon is objectively better, I agree. Still I didn't feel a spark, sadly.
Does anyone know if the song "Call me now" which was playing in the car in Ep 3, will be part of OST or is it already released? It's been stuck in my head...
Oh I love the chemistry between the main leads. This drama feels similiar to Marry my husband and Perfect Marriage Revenge. Same level of romance and mystery/thrill.
At first I thought they make Na Yu Ri the classical bitchy second female lead... Ep 2 got me wondering if she gets her own romance Plot with Ji Jung U🤔 I wouldn't mind that. Especially since they made him suspicious way too early. I always like second lead romances, they make the story more exciting.
I'm super excited for this drama. I like the pairing! I would love to see Kim Se Jeong portray a different kind of female lead. Don't get me wrong they are all unique characters. But she is often written in a way that reminds me of the manic pixie dream girl (not saying all her characters are, but they often remind me of it). And she is often portrayed as overly competent and dedicated. The male lead often falls very quickly for her character. Her character in Uncanny Counter was a refreshing portrayal. Now I would love to see her portray a more introverted role. I think she can excel at that too. But the description of this drama makes me think it's a similar role to the others. Don't get me wrong... I'm still super excited to watch it. Put Kang Tae Oh in a historical drama, or any other type of drama honestly, and I will surely watch it. I can see them have great chemistry.
I also didn't enjoy the first episode but honestly it felt stupid to just drop a show cause you didn't like the…
But isn't that the whole point of the first episode? I know that some shows need time. And if I feel like there is room for improvement, I do keep on watching. But I don't have the time to invest hours into shows of which I didn't like the first episode. I get where you are coming from. But still... somehow I have to select which shows I want to keep watching🤔
I love Hae Jun he is so funny and adorable. And I love Park Dal. She is so cute and kind. They fit each other perfectly. I'm way too invested into their relationship and if it will work out. They're the reason I keep watching.
Those two have great chemistry!
