For those who are confused about the timeline/time hop, based on my understanding it should be as below:
> S1 started with Hira as 17 years old
> By the time they graduated from high school, of course they're already 18
> Hira and Kiyoi met again when they were 20 (legal drinking age in Japan therefore there's a scene where Kiyoi got drunk in the afterparty), Hira was in second year college (in the flashback where he first met Koyama, it said "1 year ago")
> Now in S2, Hira is already in his fourth year in college (in his monologue in the camera club, he said "It's autumn in my fourth year") therefore it has already been around 2 years since he and Kiyoi became lovers

There's also this interview with the director where she said something like one of her favorite scenes in the movie is Hira cooking and Kiyoi hugs him from behind and puts his chin on Hira's shoulder and they converse calmly or something like that, she said this is only possible since
"few years have already passed" since they got together.

Well, Hira doesn't have a job "yet", he's just really well off at this point 😂

I think the drama has to tweak the timeline a bit to make some things work. For example, when Hira and Kiyoi met again, they're already in their legal drinking age (20 yrs old) lol, so that's around 2 years after high school.

I've been a fan of Riku since the first season and I know he's incredibly handsome but even I am surprised by how they made him so very handsome and charming in the first episode! 😂😂

Based on the interview with the director, few years have indeed passed already. The drama ended with Hira on his second year in college, and Hira is now in his fourth year. Even Riku (Hira's actor) mentioned that Hira didn't change that much, only Kiyoi. So the conflict (at least until the movie) would be Kiyoi trying to pull Hira forward with him.

Exactly! And there's also this thing call "cultural differences", like tsundere trope is very famous in Japan, Kiyoi is just obviously tsundere-ing (like trying to flirt with Hira but ends up being embarassed about it so his defense mechanism is to beat him lol)! I don't think any Japanese audience, who are the actual target audience of the drama, will ever think he's being "abusive". 😂😂

Kiyoi should stop being an actor and become a manzai duo with Hira instead because they're so hilarious together 😂😂

Exactly??? Like I love my fictional men weird and unhinged, Hira is perfect the way he is lol 😂

I don't know about the others but I'm definitely enjoying Hira's super weird behavior, I think it's what makes their dynamics really unique and amusing. 😂 If he did "evolve" from S1 (e.g. became more confident/positive or became better in expressing his feelings or love for Kiyoi), I don't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did because it would take away the eccentricity/uniqueness/weirdness of their relationship and would probably end up being like any other BL out there or might end up a bit boring 😂

For me it would be one episode per week because I hate getting spoiled. 😂 If I wait for all episodes to air before watching, I probably would have completed each episode by seeing people tweeting random scenes after each episode aired. 😂

Unfortunately no news yet about international release for the movie. 😥 But if you meant season 2 drama, it's gonna be released in Viki and Gagaoolala.

Season 2 will air on February 7, the movie (the one in this page) will be released in Japan on April 7 :)

Initially the info here in MDL showed that it has 6 episodes (I guess assumed similar to S1), but UtsuKare official account already confirmed it's only 4 episodes (last episode to air on Feb 28 Japan time), I think it's just that nobody had the chance to update the schedule here yet.

Exactly!! If I don't like something, I just think it's not for me and move on to another series. That's why I don't get why people who didn't like season 1 would make an entire essay about how bad/"toxic" the show is blahblah instead of just dropping it and moving on to the next show lol.
