I really like this drama (and this is coming from someone who rarely watches Korean dramas lol). The cinematography is very good and the leads have amazing chemistry (the characters have depth and angst that I really like). The atmosphere of the drama actually reminds me a lot of Utsukushii Kare (one of my most favorite dramas) so I was amazed when I learned that the director of this drama is also female and 34 years old, same with UtsuKare's director! I think I was lucky that I accidentally watched this first instead of the parent drama, because I don't think I'll love them this much if I watched the parent drama first haha!

I only watched "The Best Friend" this year (4 years late!!) and I was really amazed by Chen Mu's acting as Lin Xiao, it's like he was born to play that role. All his micro-expressions were on point and he's just so very endearing. It's such a shame that he doesn't have a lot of dramas, I want to see more of his acting... :(

Yaaay great to know!!! I also like Ting Feng! And it's true that there are some plot points that eventually got unresolved, or there seems to be some skips but I read that it's mostly due to low-budget that they were not able to film a lot of scenes they wanted to film... ^^; But overall, it was still a great watch and the characters and their dynamics are cute so enjoy~~!

I love Lin Xiao and Shao Nian together, they obviously like each other very much but Ming Hao is a mystery to me... Like some watchers have mentioned, it seems that he likes Lin Xiao instead of Ting Feng... I also think this way especially during the first few episodes, but I think he eventually realized that he has no place in Lin Xiao and Shao Nian's world of their own and soon gave up his feelings for Lin Xiao... But I'm still wondering if he ever did develop feelings for Ting Feng later on...
Anyway, I felt quite bad for him in some scenes, like when Lin Xiao forgot that he doesn't like milk, and then when he slept over at Lin Xiao's house, Lin Xiao didn't cover him with blanket (but he did with Shao Nian when it was Shao Nian who first slept on the sofa)... so I also wanted Ming Hao to have his own happy ending (but my fangirl heart will also be happy if he'll be forever in love with Lin Xiao haha, it's a dilemma)~~ 🥹
Also regarding the very last scene, my heart alsmost melted when I saw that Lin Xiao was still wearing the bracelet that Shao Nian gave!! But why did they have to pull an Untamed and not show Shao Nian's face AAAAAH----
But in my heart, I'm just so happy that they're finally together again!!! 🥹

I really love the dynamics between him and Shao Nian, it's like something I'd write in high school lol 😂 I also love how everyone around them just ships them naturally haha! The OST is also very good!!! Also, if someone else manages to watch this later than me and has nobody else to talk about this drama with, I have some points for discussion that I'd put in a spoiler below and please feel free to reply to me anytime, no matter how many days/weeks/months have passed since I posted this comment lol
I had the opportunity to watch this movie twice in Tokyo during its world premier in TIFF and I have to say I was completely moved (fortunately, there was an English subs already). It was quite confusing at first, shocking in the middle, but it wrapped the story beautifully in the end and I was really moved. All the actors did great as well, I feel like I've seen a never-before-seen acting from Riku and I'm super satisfied. I hope it gets to be released in many countries next year!
