John Mayer's flunkies were Australians with Australian accents
Well as a kiwi, Americans doing a kiwi accent always sound Australian or South African :) And I know Russian accents (and actors speaking Russian) in North American media are often made fun of. But it probably happens a lot more than that.

i'm reading the comments and they be protesting against the FL's cutesy character. IT IS HER CHARACTER. She is…
I agree, except I refuse to accept "strong" as an adjective for a female character unless she is physically strong. You don't hear "strong" as an adjective for a male character in the same way you hear it for female characters.

I found she was a great character, with many different facets to her. Much like people have many different facets to them.

I always find it bemusing when you hear American accents where they should not be. Like at the end, the ICC agents were obviously supposed to be Americans with their strange accents, BUT the ICC is one of many international organisations the Americans (and Chinese) refuse to sign up to (they do not want their soldiers being tried for war crimes) so having Americans be ICC agents was strange lol.

It is a bit offputting when no matter where a character is from (or Studied) their English always sound American. Studied in New Zealand, their English sounds American. Hotel receptionist in the UK, American, Shopkeeper in Spain, American lol. Which is why I found it so strange that there were so many blatant Aussie accents in this drama.

John Mayer's flunkies were Australians with Australian accents
There is a Korean actress who grew up in Australia, yet when she speaks English in a drama it is in some weird faux American accent. I have been told this is because Koreans think that is how English should sound

oh I agree they are all terrible, but I have noticed that pretty much ALL English-Speakers (whether they are Korean or not) are extremely wooden (Even Lee Seung Gi). At least in Chinese Dramas you can occasionally find good actors who are fluent English Speakers. In Kdramas there is never a good actor who is fluent in English.

Do not go into this expecting the characters to be same as in the Korean version. Only the female lead is somewhat recognisable and even she has been dumbed down so the male lead and the 2nd male lead can do the thinking for her. In fact at times she was sidelined so the cavemen bros could solve things together.

The female lead's mother is now just a stereotypical Chinese mother only interested in matchmaking, the prosecutor frenemy is now a more shallow tradition 2nd female lead, complete with a romantic interest in the 2nd male lead. The 2nd male is now no longer a co-worker, an equal; now he is the female lead's boss who bosses her around to show his romantic interest lol. And even the villain is nowhere near as scary as in the Korean version and more annoying than terrifying. And I am still unsure how his last evil plan was supposed to hurt the leads.

And the male lead is a man supposedly 6 years younger than the female lead, yet looks older than both the female lead and the 2nd male lead. He lies constantly from the start, and is pure caveman. The first time he meets the female lead, he picks her up and throws her over his shoulder and walks away.

Thats because this is a chinese drama. Don't you know in China women are all stupid who need men to do the thinking for them. This is why the 2ml was changed from a co-worker to a boss. This way the female lead can have two male characters be all caveman on her, boss her around and do her thinking for her.

sigh the worst part of this remake is certainly not the FL but the sexist cavemen that are the male lead and the second male lead

Sorry, slight correction. It seems I have seen Jin Han in another Drama; "Our Glamourous Time". I am only about a third of the way through it though (on a break from it), but I had no real issue with him in it. In fact I like his character's relationship with Zanilia Zhao.

I was unfamiliar with any of the actors/actresses going into this one.

I guess for me, the original Korean version is one of my favourite dramas (from any country). It is always in my top 10. So while I was not looking for a frame by frame remake with this version I was expecting the two main characters to be recognisible. For me this was not the case with the male lead in the Chinese version.

Part of that is the actor just looking too old, but also a large part of it is the character himself. The character is way too caveman compared to the Korean Version, (FFS the first time he meets the adult female lead he throws her over his shoulder and walks away with her (this is not the only time he does this). And I feel the female lead suffers because of making the male lead more caveman. She does a great job of channeling the arrogance, petulance and messyness of Lee Bo-young, but she is never really allowed to be smart like she was. Basically they have the male lead "think" for her which was annoying.

So I can admit that some of my dislike of Jin Han the actor comes from his character, which is just a huge letdown compared to LJS's character. Plus in the Korean version there was a beautiful arc, where the ML dislikes lying at the start, then when he gets afraid of losing Lee Boyoung he start to entangle himself in lies. It was a great character moment when he realised it. In the Chinese version I felt Jin Han's character was always lying from the start.

But like I said, I am NOT trying to state your opinion is invalid, just to discuss a different opinion.

Really? This is "I Hear Your Voice" the sexist remake. The female lead here, suffers because they made the 2 male leads do all her thinking for her. She is not allowed to be smart in this, because otherwise how can the 2 male leads be all caveman. And the Male Lead is very much a caveman with how he constantly manhandles her and talks down to her.

I do not think it matters. But I have only ever seen him in this drama, so going by this drama no. Are you going to say I am bias against him in this drama because I do not like him in this drama? lol

Lee Jong Suk does NOT look the same age or older than Lee Boyoung. His height does not matter. Jin Han DOES look the same age or older than Stephy so his height acerbates the disconnect in their scenes together, especially when they constantly reiterate that he is significantly younger. You seem to be hung up on the height comment when it was only ever a bracketed addendum to the point about him looking way too old.

And I think you have a misunderstanding, I am NOT invalidating your comment or opinion, I was just offering a different opinion to yours. Your opinion IS just as valid as mine.

First I thought this drama can’t compare to Korean one but after few episodes I started really enjoy this version.…
There was also a lot of changes in the Chinese version that were quite grating. The male lead came across a lot more sexist in his characterization, whilst the female lead seemed to be dumbed down so the male lead could think for her. In the Korean version, the male lead did not like lying, but as he became more and more afraid of losing the female lead, he started to get entangled by his own lies. It was a great character moment when he came to realise this. On the other hand in the Chinese version, the male lead is pretty much a habitual liar from the start. I really did not like the male lead in the Chinese version (both character & actor).

But most of the characters in the Chine version were vastly lesser versions of their Korean counterparts. The Female lead's mother & Prosecutor Frenemy in the Korean version were totally awesome characters. In the Chinese version they have both been reduced to empty stereotypes.

Yes, he looks older sometimes when he wears suit, but when he dresses like a college student, he still looks suitable…
not really. He always looked like a 30 year trying to play a 20 year old. It also did not help that the dumbed down the female lead in this version so that the male lead could think for her. And the way he constantly manhandled her was very caveman. The character acted and looked older than her in this version whereas in the Korean version both characters and actors felt appropriate for their ages

I am referring to "too tall" in regards to the fact he towers over her reinforcing the image that he looks too old for the part. I think both leads in the Korean version were better than their Chinese counterparts, but I do think Stephy is doing a better job than Jin Han is in regards to their characters.

It is amazing how well Jin Han can portray both protagonist and antagonist characters. I always get goosebumps…
Jin Han was way too old for this role (and too tall imo). He was the wrong choice for this role. He looked like a 30 year old trying to play a 20 year old (which is actually what he is doing). Even though in real life there is a 10 year age difference between the leads, in the drama they looked very close in age which really was detrimental to some of the scenes since the age difference is a very important part of the story.

It is annoying though that they went a much more sexist route with this remake, what with him constantly being physical with her, and even trying to make him much smarter than her. You may call his physicality with her "manly", I call it sexism. sigh
