This was interesting in the first episode, but the introduction of the obnoxious kid in the second episode is annoying. He is almost as aggravating as a 2FL in a Thai Lakorn
My first korean drama + jewel in the palace. Princess hours have a special place in my heart. This drama bring…
I am in the midst of a second watching and though I like it a lot, the intense stupidity of ChaeKyung is hard to take sometimes. She runs away with Yool, gets in trouble when she returns to the palace and told she has to be prudent and watch her behaviour, then the next minute she is allowing Yool to walk her to her bedroom, and the next morning he is waiting outside her bedroom and strokes her face in greeting and he blatently hits on her which even she realises, yet does nothing to stop it. FFS why does Korean girls always get written to be incredibly stupid (and this is not naive, but plain stupid).
For ages I had only watched the first episode and never went further because I thought it was unintentionally silly and exaggerated, esp the ML. Finally I gave this another chance since it kept appearing in the recommendations of shows I liked; and realised the show and the ML is intentionally silly and exaggerated. Once I grasped this simple concept I was able to enjoy this show a lot more.
I was avoiding this drama for maaaany years because of the bad rating but after watching since I had nothing else…
I have been skipping it because the first episode gives a very bad first impression, (That and the fact it is impossible for me to accept that the main character is in High School when he looks older than the Female Lead. He reminds me of those 30 year olds the Americans always cast to play High School Students).
But this keeps appearing on the recommends of other shows I like, so I guess I will give another shot.

even in the end when he professes love for her, it is hard not to see that as just the possessiveness he feels towards her. Possessiveness is NOT Love people
Unlike the Korean version there is really nothing to indicate the Prince falls in love with the Princess. The only emotions he ever shows towards the princess is contempt and possessiveness. And this cannot all be blamed on Pattie's (the FL actress) refusal to do kissing scenes. Though to be fair it is hard to see how anyone falls in love with a 17 yo girl with the face of a 30 yo woman and the personality and speech of a 7 yo girl.
In the Korean version at least we saw the Prince transition from his first impression of contempt to a grudging respect and an exasperated fondness which then grew into love in a natural manner. Here his contempt and possessiveness for his princess is something he carries through most of the drama and ...
I have watched Pattie in two dramas. Sapai TKO & Princess Hours, both romcoms. You are right, a kiss does not make a drama great, but it is a staple of the entire Romcom genre. A romcom without a kiss is like a horror movie without someone dying, or an action movie without a big action set piece.
The bewildering thing is that Pattie is not a good actress, so how the hell is she getting jobs as the lead in Romcoms WITH such a clause in her contract. You could maybe understand if she was even a ok actress, but she is not, she is a bad actress.
As a fan of the manhwa, I’m really really disappointed. At least the Korean one was cuteish and visually pleasing,…
I usually think the criticism of female actresses in Korean/Chinese/Taiwanese/Thai dramas on this site is often overblown by horny women who are only watching these shows for the hot actors and who get jealous of actresses. But in this case I agree.
The female lead was atrocious. I actually seriously wonder if she misread the script and thinks she was meant to be playing a 7 year old instead of a 17 year old. From her tendency to overact; her aggravating affected voice; her avoidance of kissing in a ROMCOM; & the fact she looks like a woman in her late 20s playing a high school student; she was bad. And her exaggerated facial expressions were NOT funny, were NOT cute but bloody annoying. I can not believe anyone would fall in love with such a caricature. Basically the actress is a 25-26 year old woman playing a 16-18 High Schooler as if she was 6-7 years old.
I have seen her in a later work, "Sapai TKO" with her and she does not use that bloody annoying voice, and though she still overacts she has moderated it a lot, but she still avoids skinship even though the ML in that drama was her IRL boyfriend.

EP1 - Marriage - ML & FL EP2 - FL Quit Her Job EP3-4 - FL Returns to Work EP12-13 - Draggy as fuck breakup EP14 - Finally the Divorce between ML & FL EP18 - And Finally 2ML starts his pursuit of the FL EP20 - FL finally realises 2ML likes her. And the cute stuff begins EP21 - First Kiss EP25 - Noble Idiocy EP26-EP29 - Angst, Angst & more angst. EP - 30 Finally the business plotlines are wrapped up. EP31 - A year later, FL becomes an intern (her career path seems to be to descend through the ranks). The 2ML & FL only get together in the last 15 minutes. (They do not even meet this EP until the last 20 minutes)
I liked this, but it really spends way way too much time on the office politics. And overall there is a very very sexist underlying message with how the male lead succeeds in business at the expense of the FL & the 2FM despite being a lot less competent than either of them. Both Women start of as his bosses, And then he gets both women, to become his underlings (and they seem to accept this status reversal). Fucking icky. By the end I feel nothing but contempt for the sexist insecure gaslighting POS ML, Bong Jun Soo no matter how much they tried to redeem him.
I will add a spoiler reply saying which are the important episodes for the romance between the FL & the 2ML.
Do the two friends who sold her house, at least end up in jail? I have tossed about watching this, but the fact that the synopsis (and experience with other kdramas) implies the FL just went "oh shucks, you silly guys" when they sold her freaking house has always held me back.
You are right brother The female lead is overacting . Her acting is really very bad .
Fair enough. I apologise for the harshness of my comment. I was annoyed at the time by the amount of people on this site (in regards with multiple dramas from multiple countries - Korean/Chinese/Taiwanese/Thai), all commenting on how bad the actresses are, how they have no chemistry whilst the actors are championed because they are "hot" or "did a good job even though they are singers and not actors". I allowed that frustration to be expressed through my own judgemental comment (which made an unfounded assumption about your motivation). For that I apologise. Be Well
I like this well enough, but seriously both sons are insensitive jerks. They expect their wives (fake and real) to be responsible for making their mother like them. Their mother is a rude obnoxious entitled snob who considers their wives little better than servants yet it is the wives who are at fault for not making the mother like them. They do not like it if their wives speak harshly to their mother, but their mother constantly belittling and insulting their wives is allowed without protest.
I really do not like Sun Mi's husband at all. He is constantly gaslighting poor Sun Mi. The mother I thought was over the top but ultimately harmless, but when she joins a plan to have her son drugged and raped ... yeah nah. And the male lead has the IQ & EQ of a brick.
This is just an over the top comedy. There is absolutely NO ROMANCE in this drama. Do not watch if you are looking for romance, this is a broad comedy only.
FL might have had her reasons for doing so.Maybe she was comfortable with her relationship up until the pharmacist…
Considering how stalkerish and controlling the ex turned out to be, not to mention how much pressure she faced from her social circle & culture to stay with him, I would suggest her reasons were perfectly valid.
She started to have emotions for another man while she was still in a relationship. For some, this is cheating. She…
For a lot more it is NOT cheating. Because emotions (and thoughts - emotions are just primal thoughts) are hard to control. If someone slaps you across the face, do you stop yourself getting angry? Is a stray thought about stealing a pen the same as actually stealing a pen? Of course not. People having emotions (and thoughts) are fair enough. Acting on those thoughts/emotions are another mater entirely.
As someone who absolututely judges the fuck out of someone who cheats whilst in a relationship, I see no issue with someone ending a relationship BEFORE getting intimate with someone else, especially since they are NOT married. Sure the turnaround in this case might be a bit short, BUT it is still better than actual cheating.
