At least the General's romance is moving along nicely!! LOL
The trolls with their hate for intelligent dramas need to move along. Solid episodes and cast so far!!

OMG same!! I checked out the cast and basically all the guys from the Yan family are uber cute. I'm calling them…
I did!! Boy he did not like his cousin calling her pretty at the lantern festival!! That jealous face was everything!! And then realizing her ex-fiance Ning was smiling at QW, bro could have speared him with his eyes alone! LOL

Agree! Must be the folks who dislike intelligent dramas because they can't keep up with it. So far its great.…
Yep. Its been a while since I saw such an interesting plot with an intelligent cast of characters. Hoping it stays that way with this one.

Im on Episode 3 and watching it because of ao ruipeng otherwise i would drop. What’s with the making the FL…
Actually the FL here has been shown to have her own flaws, same as the ML. She also makes assumptions, just as he is emotionally clueless at times. But yes as someone with a history of living in a place where medicine is a way of life, she naturally knows more than regular people (specially about autopsies (which even morticians are afraid to carry out) and has an in depth knowledge of crime, law and investigation from listening to her father. This is the case for any child who hears their parent talk at home. She is smart and equally matched with the ML who has his own strengths and weaknesses. No one was marked as an imbecile in the drama so far. The magistrate was a suck up who didn't want to rock the boat and the coroner was untrained, they were not shown as stupid to make her look intelligent, this was a very real life scenario from any work environment even in current times. People who are not qualified get hired for the job every day. The other women in the drama are all shown to be surviving the best way they know, and so are the men.
No one has a problem when literally 20 year old MLs have a decade of military life behind them and are generals/ ministers in the court or dukes etc but give a FL an ounce of a brain and grits to claw her way to a better life and the anti-feminist drums start beating. If I rolled my eyes any harder at OP's comment they would be stuck in the back of my head.

Btw, if you guys have the time and want to, do rate the episodes on the episode guide, there are people rating…
Agree! Must be the folks who dislike intelligent dramas because they can't keep up with it. So far its great. The twists are interesting and the true work behind finding out the truth is handled well. No fillers, mature lead couple, some moments of comedy and keeping us guessing! Wish the episodes released faster because I went through the first 6 on a binge!

Episode 12 and losing patience with the FL character. I thought she was a doctor, and would be smart but she's just another Fl with a whiny voice who keeps expecting the ML to save her even though she hates him for deceiving her in the earlier episodes and she keeps on doing foolish things. I cannot deal with her any more. I feel for the ML.

is it romance?
Very little romance. There is a crush from the ML's perspective however no actual romance, the show is focused on Mo Qing Chuan's journey to right the Xia Court.

Wait what? Am I seeing things wrong?Isn't it true that in episode 12 at minute 23:55, the scene with these women…
Yes it is. The two shows have the same director. I posted about this in the historical dramas club a couple of days ago. Had to pause and rewatch to make sure I wasn't seeing things!!

Final two episodes picked up the pace we had been losing in the last few weeks, (thank goodness!) to end on a high note. As I said in my review, this show was the King and Imoogi for me all the way!!! I could not get enough of their bromance, their back and forth was sooooo like a sibling relationship, I loved it.
I do feel sad that there was a lot of loss along the way, but the theme of remorse, compassion and redemption ran strong throughout and also through the last episode which rounded things off nicely for me. It would have left me feeling like a thread was loose if the spirits of the villagers had not had closure the way they needed it. I was happy to see the well spirit show up for a moment of comedy as well. She has kinda grown on me!

Holy mackerel this rollercoaster!!!And I am here for the ride!!

I have stayed awake all night binging because it has kept me at the edge of my seat. I have a few theories, the only thing I am sure of at this point (please drama gods don't make me eat my words later!) is that Curry Kim and I Na are not behind it. But the rest is clear as mud. The star power is glowing too!! The industry titans are playing tiny minute but pivotal roles. Loving it and cannot wait for the knot to unwind in the next two episodes!!

Buddy - do you know how fast those subtitles flicker by??? Sometimes I dont really see the scene and it is already…
Agree with this and will add my two cents. A large population of audience (myself included) is solely dependent on the subtitles and our microscopic knowledge of the tremendous amount of cultural/ historical knowledge to understand the scenes. It is expected that some things, big things and small things, will slip by us unnoticed. Which is why you may see questions in the comments section.
In addition, you see it happening more frequently now because Asian content is now being watched by people all over the world more than ever.

Further to that, these comment sections are a way to disseminate the show, and create community. On a website (which has since been shut down) the comment section of each episode was half the fun of watching the show as you felt it was a large watch party happening!

Hello friend! Fancy running into you here! That blind shaman actor is seriously doing such a great job making…
I had the same feeling. They could have given us maybe a full 1/1.5 episode with YG before sending him across Samdo instead of some of the filler stuff in 11 and 12.

Two questions:1) why is that blind shaman so purely evil? This is more rhetorical than not, but he acts so evil…
Hello friend! Fancy running into you here!
That blind shaman actor is seriously doing such a great job making me hate the character! And he is so insidious too! Plays all meek and timid and plotting against everyone. I think he is the evil, not the 8 feet spirit.
IMHO mom didn't know that it was KC and not really YG with his memory gone until episode 14. But as moms do, she knew immediately in her heart when it was really her son, that's why after the quick switch when KC comes back, she can't hold back her suspicion any more and confronts them. The mom and son arc in the 14th episode was so good, I bawled!

Wowza! This weekend was subtle. I have come to expect crazy twists from this show, but this weekend felt more like a gentle, rollicking ride where resolution, forgiveness, compassion and second chances were the main fare.
The two standout scenes for me were:
The ritual send off to the one legged spirit which had me bawling, I felt cleansed and lighter with the good vibes it left me with at the end of it. Truly the veteran actor playing lord Choi tugged at my heartstrings with his portrayal of a proud wise man who knows he has done wrong, felt torn between his loyalty as a subject to his king, and his horror as a human being having caused the death of another.
The monologue by Yoon Gap/ Imoogi in the same body. That scene was a testament to the actor's range and talent that you could tell from each body movement and words which character was dominating the body in that moment. Truly genius! And hilarious.
The juxtaposition of the two ministers shown at the same time, is another yin yang I have seen throughout this whole show. One minister is experiencing a downfall, his crime exposed, his stature diminished and yet he is the greater man for kneeling and asking for forgiveness, truly repenting for the harm he has caused.........while another minister is aiming at the premier's post, career trajectory moving upwards yet he is the smaller man for leaning on means other than his work alone and using evil, malevolence to catapult him into a position he does not deserve.

I am looking forward to next weekend, knowing they will be wrapping up the show and while it has been a wild ride at times, I am ready for the conclusion. I am gonna miss the Imoogi and the King though (that goes without saying!!)

Yan Zi Xian is very talented and a versatile actoryes he is also very easy on the eyesafter love&bid farewell…
I highly highly recommend My Uncanny destiny for fans of this actor. He is so insanely funny in that show. And its a much better comedy and romance too.

Could the reason he was able to absorb the glowing pearl without any harm this time be because the pearl this…
Oh it made perfect sense, just didn't film right for me. I dunno if that makes any sense. Its weird the way they just showed the visual aspect but didn't explain any of what happened afterwards. I mean we could have gotten some details when they explained the whole thing to the king, instead of being left to ourselves to draw conclusions. But that's why we watch fantasy I guess :P

Could the reason he was able to absorb the glowing pearl without any harm this time be because the pearl this…
Yeah Totally agree. Would have been better if the writers had explained it a bit more. I mean I can understand Imoogis living longer and still not knowing all the lore about themselves, and yet the monk knew about the pearl (also I find the monk a tad bit too helpful) maybe because he has access to some scripture which the poor dragon at the bottom of a pool did not or the monk wandered around in the world collecting legends and myths and knew this. It's an oft repeated trope in mythological/ fantasy stories that the beast doesn't have all the facts about itself - I'm choosing to give them the benefit of the doubt here :P

But I definitely agree with you..... the whole kidnap-lure-stab-stab thing didn't sit right with me either.

Say what you want about this drama but they do know how to make cliffhangers
Agreed! Their whole career in the industry literally hangs on this (see what I did there ??) LOL!!
