I got her intention in throwing water on the body and understood her motivation for being able to examine the to do so. I think it was overplayed in the drama this time. The director has been logical and subtle in their portrayal of the dynamics so far, but this scene was over the top. The romantic music and the smile were unnecessary. It came off as a parody, felt like a different drama in that moment when this drama has so far been stellar. You are in mortal peril one second and coughing your lungs out and lovey dovey smile next. I agree she did throw something to confirm to the crowd you are indeed trapped inside the room and then break the roof tiles (which is so typical of our FL) but that whole swinging from the rooftop was too much of a 180 degree to swallow.
OMG What was that??? Is it just me who was irritated with FL's actions during the fire in the 19th episode??? Like I get the murderer set the fire to burn the bad guy after impaling him, but this was the first time I saw her behaving stupidly and trying to put out the fire with a basin of water and then waiting inside knowing the whole place was going up in fire. Or was it just a plot device to show the leads love? That romantic music during their jump from the roof felt so wrong given the circumstances and that smile she gave ML after they landed off the roof felt like a joke to her previous intelligence. Please don't let this fabulous FL character turn stupid now that she has fallen in love.
OMG!!! Why are they torturing us with only 2 episodes per day????? Dying here!! Now I remember why don't like watching dramas as they are airing!!! That grandma is fly!! She is on to the prince's intentions!! Man her expressions once she realized which way the prince was leaning. She is legit my favourite character in a huge cast of awesome characters. And right after her is the princess. I love her straightforward and warm personality. Her poor brother..... his face as he took the tea from FL just made me giggle so hard.
OMG this drama just gets better and better with every episode. Ep 9 just went from 0 to 60 in a heartbeat with the discovery of multiple bodies. And the Qin family can go soak their heads! That matriarch should be ashamed of herself!(kudos to the actress playing her, she has made me hate the character) but seriously I feel on fire every time they pull that "noble family" shit. Noble in name only, nothing noble in their actions...the hypocrites! I am loving the building understanding between our leads, pretty sure ML has figured out who FL is now but won't say a word. Thank goodness for intelligent dramas.... saving my sanity one scene at a time!!

Actually the FL here has been shown to have her own flaws, same as the ML. She also makes assumptions, just as he is emotionally clueless at times. But yes as someone with a history of living in a place where medicine is a way of life, she naturally knows more than regular people (specially about autopsies (which even morticians are afraid to carry out) and has an in depth knowledge of crime, law and investigation from listening to her father. This is the case for any child who hears their parent talk at home. She is smart and equally matched with the ML who has his own strengths and weaknesses. No one was marked as an imbecile in the drama so far. The magistrate was a suck up who didn't want to rock the boat and the coroner was untrained, they were not shown as stupid to make her look intelligent, this was a very real life scenario from any work environment even in current times. People who are not qualified get hired for the job every day. The other women in the drama are all shown to be surviving the best way they know, and so are the men. No one has a problem when literally 20 year old MLs have a decade of military life behind them and are generals/ ministers in the court or dukes etc but give a FL an ounce of a brain and grits to claw her way to a better life and the anti-feminist drums start beating. If I rolled my eyes any harder at OP's comment they would be stuck in the back of my head.

Agree! Must be the folks who dislike intelligent dramas because they can't keep up with it. So far its great. The twists are interesting and the true work behind finding out the truth is handled well. No fillers, mature lead couple, some moments of comedy and keeping us guessing! Wish the episodes released faster because I went through the first 6 on a binge!
Episode 12 and losing patience with the FL character. I thought she was a doctor, and would be smart but she's just another Fl with a whiny voice who keeps expecting the ML to save her even though she hates him for deceiving her in the earlier episodes and she keeps on doing foolish things. I cannot deal with her any more. I feel for the ML.
Very little romance. There is a crush from the ML's perspective however no actual romance, the show is focused on Mo Qing Chuan's journey to right the Xia Court.

Yes it is. The two shows have the same director. I posted about this in the historical dramas club a couple of days ago. Had to pause and rewatch to make sure I wasn't seeing things!!
Final two episodes picked up the pace we had been losing in the last few weeks, (thank goodness!) to end on a high note. As I said in my review, this show was the King and Imoogi for me all the way!!! I could not get enough of their bromance, their back and forth was sooooo like a sibling relationship, I loved it. I do feel sad that there was a lot of loss along the way, but the theme of remorse, compassion and redemption ran strong throughout and also through the last episode which rounded things off nicely for me. It would have left me feeling like a thread was loose if the spirits of the villagers had not had closure the way they needed it. I was happy to see the well spirit show up for a moment of comedy as well. She has kinda grown on me!

I have stayed awake all night binging because it has kept me at the edge of my seat. I have a few theories, the only thing I am sure of at this point (please drama gods don't make me eat my words later!) is that Curry Kim and I Na are not behind it. But the rest is clear as mud. The star power is glowing too!! The industry titans are playing tiny minute but pivotal roles. Loving it and cannot wait for the knot to unwind in the next two episodes!!

A large population of audience (myself included) is solely dependent on the subtitles and our microscopic knowledge of the tremendous amount of cultural/ historical knowledge to understand the scenes. It is expected that some things, big things and small things, will slip by us unnoticed. Which is why you may see questions in the comments section. In addition, you see it happening more frequently now because Asian content is now being watched by people all over the world more than ever.
Further to that, these comment sections are a way to disseminate the show, and create community. On a website (which has since been shut down) the comment section of each episode was half the fun of watching the show as you felt it was a large watch party happening!
