I don't like how they are making the 8-feet spirit so powerful he is basically invincible right now. At this point…
Could the reason he was able to absorb the glowing pearl without any harm this time be because the pearl this time was benign? Previously when it was used by characters with an intent to subdue and this time there was no intent and so imo while the pearl carries power, it needs the intent of the holder to work. That is why the spirit was able to absorb it with no negative effects. Just playing into the story :P
I don't understand. The 8ft spirit is a combination of souls? Then how was it summoned? Why is it one and not…
@repamekala I don't think it is combination of souls. It is more one spirit who has swallowed other spirits and is holding them hostage (because vengeance/ malice/ hatred is overpowering and corrupts), absorbing their essence but retaining its own original form and purpose. The ID tag is an item belonging to the original spirit to identify the spirit being called during summoning. That is how I am reading it.
I am sooooo here for Sung Jae and Ji Hoon's performances. They are giving me such power packed angst in this episode, I cannot wrap my head around it (and they even found a moment to bicker while having tea... this bromance gets better all the time). Everyone else is doing a good job but honestly the two actors are really stealing the show IMO. Anyone replay the scene with the grandfather where the king says " I do not need evidence" and then walks like a boss down the steps..... almost 20 times??? I did!
I am starting to feel the threads coming together but also as always with so many threads, some are starting to loosen up and reveal some gaps, I hope those are sewn up in the future episodes.
Ooooh I read Judith McNaught books too!!! Which scenes from the drama are reminiscent of her books? And which…
For the fantasy+ romance her Circle Trilogy is awesome, grey hero is the best character paired with the sweetest FL. For a more contemporary gothic/ horror +roman I'd say Lost Bride Trilogy. Thrillers: The Obsession, Under Currents, The search. There are tons more! And if you like the romantic suspense genre I could give you a whole list of authors and series. Its one of my favourites.
Judith mcnaught! π I love her historical books. Maybe should reread some, while waiting for new episodes. π
Lol you and I have such similar reading taste!! I just recommended Julie Garwood above! I would recommend her FBI series as a contemporary read. Romance with serial killer in the background is another favourite plot of mine and some books in the series have that. But over all the FBI series is really good, awesome romance, great comic moments and the series mainly features heroes or heroines from the same family in each book. Also bonus: She has woven present generation Kincaids, Buchanans and McKennas from her historical series into the FBI series as the protagonists!!

Julie Garwood: Crown's Spies series is pretty much all enemies to lovers tropes but specially the Guardian Angel. The bride is a very cute story. The Secret is similar!

Ooooooh I love book recommendations and drama recommendations and you gave me both at once!! I will definitely add those books to the TBR pile. I echo the sentiment about enemies-to-lovers romances done well, specially if the FL is written as an intelligent character. I don't do well with giggly, simpering FLs. I will add that if you like the enemies to lovers historicals, Julie Garwood also has a few novels that read that way. And the comedy is cute too!

Some of her contemporary books are great too!!! But of course the historicals are the stars! I am really sad she hasn't released anything in the last 20 years. She broughtd angsty passion to her romances that very few authors have managed to do well.

The scene when ML is carrying the sick FL back into his mansion reminds me of the scene from A Kingdom of Dreams where ML also carries the heroine in his keep and declares to his clansmen that this is wife and they all hate her because their lord had to marry her, the daughter of their arch enemy. I think she was unwell too at that time.
But honestly the whole two kingdoms feuding because of a betrayal, decline of female's clan's power while revenge-fueled male led clan is hungry to annihilate them, female sacrificed to keep the peace/ marriage of convenience, she is supremely kind and intelligent, male starts liking her but hating that he likes her so he is harsher towards her, she plays small tricks to win concessions from him, misunderstandings because of his pre-conceived notions........... all of it is so Judith McNaught!! I could name a number of her books that run in the same vein: Whitney, My Love, A Kingdom of Dreams, Once and Always are a few that come to mind. Specially because the hero would find out (by accident or someone would tell him) about the reason the heroine acted that way - after he had been really harsh and he would realize her goodness, and soften a little more. I think its the wounded hero with trauma that he doesn't realize he has, the FL is intelligent and benevolent, the deeply passionate scenes from the books that give me that feel.
Episode 11 started off slowwww, and then built and built to the crescendo where there was this release of tension and just the overall shock and pain left behind. Did we know it was coming? Yes, the character was moving in that direction for the last few episodes. And it was done beautifully. Did I wish that Yeo Ri had gotten out of the rope bindings faster? Yes (coz it seemed all she needed to do was twist around a little bit). I always roll my eyes when I see that little gaffe in any show. But the emotional impact on our ML, who has been on a very human journey was like a shock wave that went through me as a viewer as well. Pain and loss are a very mortal experience, one that had eluded both the Imoogis so far, and to see them both experience it in different ways was so heart wrenching, yet the leap in ML's growth was astounding in this one episode alone. I cannot wait for tomorrow.
This is that show that I keep putting on hold........ for months...... come back only to watch the next couple of episodes (only and only because of Bai Jing Ting) and put it on hold again..... and again...... and again. I don't think I have ever put a show on hold or considered dropping it entirely this many times before.
did no one else have a problem with how weak duan banxia was?? i mean she couldve been somewhat useful imho, but…
I literally came here to say just that. I know I am only on episode 8 and there is tons of room for growth in her character but honestly its starting to bother me. Other than leaving home to find him, she is the poster child for clingy, weak damsel in constant distress. I cannot stand the fainting type of heroine.
I was so excited about this series when I saw the cast. I am not feeling it yet. Granted I have only seen the first episode so hopefully it picks up in the coming episodes. I will say though that the setting of the small town is beautiful and I see the possibility of using ingredients/ food as a character in the story in its own right........but that's my nerd speaking.
I cannot get used to the arrogant character played by KNH after his amazing gentle role in When the Camellia Blooms. I am going to wait until more episodes have aired so I can give it a try and make up my mind.
