I wasn't sure if I should watch this drama but I'm glad I did. Although it is obviously a tragedy, the ending was almost a relief because they could finally stop struggling to fulfill their obligations to their family. Instead, for a little while, they lived for themselves. It was one of the few times that I thought a tragic ending fit.
This link has the lyrics in the comments, but it's much sadder if you know the lyrics:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lG4LolklcbQ
Thank you for putting the translated lyrics there. I liked the song even more once I understood what she was saying. It would have been nice if they had played the song at the very end playing over the credits. Her voice is very beautiful but haunting.
Is anyone else equally interested in Shotaro's relationship with Haraguchi? I'm thinking (and hoping) those two…
I am totally rooting for Shotaro to end up with Haraguchi. They have great chemistry together and seem more like a couple to me than Shotaro and Hijiri. Hijiri's comment that she sees him as a goal is a red flag.
I'm thinking about watching the Jap ver since I'm dying from curiosity with what happens next.. but on the other…
This one has started deviating from the Japanese one. Moreover, what happened in the Japanese one might not happen in this one. I still think you should watch the Japanese one because it is really good though. Kimura Takuya is amazing and speaking as someone who saw the original, I have not been bored.
I confess, after watching Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, I racked my brain for several days trying to come up with socially acceptable reasons to wear hanfu on a regular basis. If anyone thinks of one please let me know. In addition to the beautiful costumes, I also love the palace conflicts, intense romance, and strong/intelligent female and male leads.
I've started watching Rise of Phoenixes which is really great so far. It is a little lighter on the romance than I'd like but I adore the relationship b/t the male lead and female lead. They are just perfect for each other. I really wanted to like General and I but I found the plot to be a tad ridiculous at times. I still rewatch the scenes between the leads from time to time though. I really liked the idea of an intelligent female strategist fighting against a general and falling for him. I just think the execution was not quite what I'd like.
The chemistry between jin kang and min young is intense. At the same time i liked how adorable jin gook and tak…
In the original, no. It was a tragic ending for the main couple. The romance b/t jin gook and tak in the original was far more muted and was never really played out. However, who knows what will happen in this drama. It is already deviating quite a bit from the original.
I was worried that the Korean version wouldn't be good but so far I am really enjoying this drama. I still think Kimura Takuya played the ML better but Seo In Guk is doing well too. I don't really have any complaints about his acting and he has great chemistry with Jung So Min. I just hope it remains dark and intense to the end.
I like pretty things so I love Chinese dramas. Both the actors/actresses and the cinematography tends to be gorgeous. My main issue with Chinese dramas has to do with drama length. I started out in the drama world watching 10-11 episode Japanese dramas. I think most Korean dramas are long at 16-20 episodes. Chinese dramas with their 40-60 episode counts are difficult. Oftentimes I think there are several episodes or even entire arcs that could be deleted without any major issues. I'm afraid I have a tendency to fast forward and skip quite a bit when watching Chinese dramas.
I agree that there would probably be less complaints if the roles were reversed, but I also think it is because…
Agreed. 14 is very young. At 17, they are one year (or less) from adulthood. All the other dramas mentioned in the article involved older high school students.
The PD made some statements at the press conference where he openly discussed the incest plotline, which was unusual…
Thanks for the link! The PD was really vague in the article though. I wouldn't consider that letting the cat out of the bag. I can understand why they would change the incest storyline/ending but what I liked the most about the original was the very dark material. The original didn't shy away from dealing with that dark material either. Obviously a remake is going to be different from the original but I'd prefer it to not be a watered down version of the original. As you say, we will just have to wait and see. Speculation without facts is pointless. :)
From what the director said during the press conference, it's clearly evident that the storyline will be deviating…
So what did the director say exactly? He isn't including the incest storyline at all? I think I'd be less confused if I hadn't watched the original... Lol

What her mom did to Jin Kang was rude. She should have definitely apologized.
