So far so good. Going by the original Japanese Drama Seo In Guk plays the part perfectly . And Jung So Min also…
Does he know that she is his sister in this version? It seems like he might b/c he says they've met before and that she seems like a cute younger sister... I'm really confused about how it is going to play out.
I'm very confused right now. It seems like they are indeed sibling b/c they both have burn marks. However, the way that he said they have met before and that she seems like a cute younger sister makes me think that he may remember her. If that is the case, are they not going to follow the incest storyline at all? It was such a big part of the original...
I loved Tempest! I find not a lot of people have seen it so I'm so glad it was mentioned. Plus Nakama Yukie is my favorite Japanese actress (I loved her in the Trick series)! Tanihara Shosuke is also super dreamy.
I've watched up to episode 15 on Netflix and I am really enjoying it. I love how the power play between the different factions is playing out. Just when I think one faction will win, something unexpected happens. I also like Ning Yi and Zhi Wei as characters. Ning Yi is such a complex character with an interesting background. The chemistry between the two leads is great. I just wish they had more scenes together.
Really looking forward to this but I can't see it staying true to the original, it's too dark for Korea so I wonder…
On the other hand, I feel like it will really cheapen the drama if they suddenly change it into a "fake incest" story or use some other cop-out to avoid dealing with the dark material.
Yes, it is essentially 16 eps + maybe a special in terms of length b/c each episode is only 35 mins each. Normally each episode is at least an hour long.
Can you give me some examples of xianxia dramas? I got really interested.Maybe the closest to wuxia I've watched…
I just noticed that there is a xianxia tag on this site. If you go to Explore --> Top TV shows ---> and type xianxia in the tag section on the left you can search for xianxia dramas.
I like Dong Mae as a character, he's interesting, a bit creepy, and kind of lost..he likes to appear as if his…
Yes, I like his character a lot too. He's definitely a complex character with an intriguing backstory. However, that key scene in episode 8 where Ae Sin neatly puts him in his place is exactly why I'd never ship him with her.
Totally agree with you. :) I love slow burn romances, especially when people surprise you and you fall in love…
Mitta, I think you hit the nail on the head. I think the unspoken words and glances between Eugene and Ae Sin are what makes the romance so great. It is a more mature, understated romance. You don't have to wonder why/how/when the two characters fell in love like you do with some shows. It is shown beautifully throughout the drama. I am also a sucker for period dramas from the UK like North and South or Pride and Prejudice. :)

Willow, I agree one hundred percent. Ae Sin doesn't need someone to "fix". She needs a partner who is going to be there for her as she works towards her goals. In that respect, Ae Sin and Eugene are perfect for each other. I also like quiet and strong characters. :)
I stand by my initial assessment of Ae sin. She is a total badass- especially in episode 8. I think she and Eugene have great chemistry together as well. The romance is definitely a slow burn but I think it is done well. It is a pity so many people ship her with Dong Mae. I just don't see it.
Holding a woman’s skirt is extremely disrespectful in their culture and basically harassment. And when they…
@Sonya I completely agree. I think he makes her a little afraid too due to his animosity towards her. Even though he has feelings towards her it seems like he almost hates her too. Perhaps because, like Meres said, he still doesn't deserve her. Whereas Eugene, despite also starting off in a lowly position, seems more like her equal due to his high rank in the US army.
I'm seriously amazed bythis drama. It contains everything that I adore from saeguk dramas - politics, intrigue,…
I'm loving this drama. The leads have great chemistry. Ae sin is so adorable that I don't even mind the love triangle/square (normally I avoids such dramas like the plague). Eugene looks dashing in his uniform and I don't have the slightest bit of SLS (Dong mae who?). The pace is a bit slower that usual but I find the story and characters intriguing so I don't mind that. However, the minute + periods where the cameras circle around Eugene and Ae sin while they are staring at each other kills me. I really wish they'd cut those parts out or make them a bit shorter. It just seems awkward to me and it takes me out of drama. That however, is just a minor quibble on my part.
