Totally. I guess for me I am thinking this might be a budgetary decision (i.e. they didn't want to re-shoot the scene), but like you said they could have cut away. You aren't nitpicking, I think this is a valid critique because it doesn't help the story telling it actually detracts from it, but it's not too bad either LOL.

This is how I understood it to be. Initially most flashbacks were from Pharm and In's POV, and the few times Dean had POV we didn't see the bigger "picture"...after learning of In's suicide he was envisioning how it happened. I also think because he already knew that Pharm had a "birthmark" on the temple and also watched him get startled by the loud bangs, he connected the dots too. However, @sony25t is also right that it is sloppy writing as they could have done a better job showing us how Dean was picturing In's death.

I have watched thai dramas for over 15yrs they don't even put rapists in jail so nothing new here
I hear ya on the badly written end. However, for the hiking guy, I think that Hao Ting was imagining Xu as that guy. I don't think he was a double/doppelganger but more like Hao Ting's wish for him to be his lover. We can clearly see that when his sister looks inside the coffee shop and she doesn't react, meaning she didn't think that guy looked like Xu. I think that the writing just missed a lot of ways they could have told the story. But def agree that it was sloppy ending.

You should read my post about why thai slap/kiss lakrons tend to have rape fantasies. Its not really the reason…
"Western Mentality" is one of the most annoying ways to dismiss a very serious critique or concern. It is the reason why in many Patriarchal societies such as China, S. Korea etc they still view Rape as business as usual or taboo. A person gets raped and the victim is the person vilified. Often, like in the Drama The Effect, the family of the aggressor would pay to keep the matter quiet. Rape should not be viewed through a cultural lense as we know that many cultures have many archaic views about such horrific traumatizing events. For instance there are cultures that think it's okay for young boys to be sex slave to older men. Do you find this to be okay because it's their culture? How about young girls being sold as brides? This is neither a woman's right or men's right, it's a human rights violation. Everyone has different morality scales, but I would hope that when it comes to rape, sex assault, harassment that we can all as a collective agree that it is morally wrong.

For me, I've been watching Dramas for over 30 years now...And Mexican Novelas, Brazilian Novelas and Colombia Novelas always make sure the villain gets their just deserts,...for instance there have been many villains that have died in car accidents, burnt alive, explosion, falling off a building. Some have lost all of their money and power and ended up poor. Again, it's not like I want all villains to end up dead or something, but it just seems like there isn't any sense of justice for these people.

Seriously, I can name so many. For instance the same thing happened in The Effect and LBC. It's like the best way to get away with anything is to be the villain in a Thai BL. They don't seem to get punishment LOL...All of the villains in Mexican/Latino Novelas should just fly over to Asia so they won't get killed/burnt/blown up HAHAHAAHAH

He's coming to me is one of the best BLs of 2019 despite that part of the ending. I kind understand why they didn't pursue the charges given he was an OLD MAN, but I had wished for something more as punishment. He essentially got away with killing his own kid.

Yeah you are right about Type (also LOL Type not being bright), but I think I wasn't clear. I mean the way the drama was trying to portray it was just so wrong and promulgates a view of Gay men that's kind of dangerous. I can understand Type thinking that his abuser was Gay and thus all Gay men are bad, but it just to me seemed weird that his friend who is Gay, his roommate turned Boyfriend is Gay and that NOT ONE single person could educate him about the correlation of Gay men and pedophiles? LOL, it was just a pet-peeve of mine that I wished they had properly addressed so some of the people watching this show didn't think the same way as Type.

I stand by my earlier comments. Drama was okay, I wouldn't rate it a ten as there was a lot of content that should have been addressed and not glossed over. I won't repeat what those were. Also, seems to be a common theme in many Asian dramas, but again we have a character that essentially ruined the lives of several individuals but doesn't' get a comeuppance.

on the positive side, Mew and Gulf should be paired up in another drama with better script. They have the acting abilities to pull it off. I find that they can do a more mature drama and I would sign up to watch it. Their chemistry was off the charts for sure.

Like you I had some of the very same issues. And it's even more poignant to me as I work in a field where I do interact and work with individuals who have been assaulted.

My biggest problem is that the script got so many things wrongs about rape, homophobia, sex assault etc. The biggest problem to me is that they made Type be homophobic because he was "abused or raped" by a man and somehow that generalization befalls the entire LGBTQ community, when statistically speaking, pedophiles are straight men who don't identify as gay nor have a preference for boys/men, but rather for "young kids" They portrayed it as though his homophobia was attached to Gay men, when really he would have had an issue with ANY man that approached him. They also never addressed his issues or even allowed him to understand that not all gay men are going to rape you ,yet had Tharn re-affirm Type's fears of gay men by his harassment of Type initially. What sort of message were they trying to send? I don't blame the drama or actors (Mew and Gulf were amazing in what they were given)I blame the writer as she has a tendency to write BL content and adds some questionable subjects, but doesn't delve into them and properly vet them. That sort of propagates the myths around Gay men as not trust worthy or capable of controlling their desires/sex drive.

I do agree that the best parts of this drama were the fluffy stuff once you get past the first half. But that's about it. This drama was over-hyped and I believe part of it is because of the racy moments a lot of people want to see. For me, it was okay.

I guess to each their own, so if people loved it, kudos to them. I just wished some of the fans stopped trying to silence those who have honest critique. Some of us want to see a good story told and we should be able to call out when some things just aren't really working or if some myths and misconceptions continued to be used as tropes to get two people together.

Well, I'm not sure how I feel about a second season. From the trailer it looks like we will be going back to when it all started with Sam and Earth (Sam being a doctor in the school?)...Honestly, if they make Earth and Stud a couple, it has to be one where Stud actually addresses his issues. I think that he is in love with Earth and didn't realize it until it was too late. I'll watch to see what happens.

Glad she addressed this. The series is about In/Korn and Dean/Pharm. It's only natural that it's their story that is being told. The thirst for second couples (in this case, third and fourth couples) needs to calm down. I'm sure that the author, director and team behind this might be thinking of a second season where they will focus on the others. Given how a lot of Thai Bls have second seasons it's only natural to realize that they won't fit every single couple and story into one. The interactions that they do give us is enough to pique interest and keep the conversation going. Hopefully, they will have a second season focused on those other couples as they have their own books.

The pauses would be better utilized if they gave the characters some inner monologues so we know what they are…
LOl I''m not disagreeing with you. Just saying that this drama could benefit from some inner monologue. For instance that time when Pharm was told to go to the library in the Business building where Dean studies...they took about a minute of him staring into space and you can clearly deduce from that, they were implying that he was talking to himself "should I go? Should I let Dean know?" I understand that they are following the source material, but there are opportunities to make the drama even better by giving characters nuance and development.
