It's not just about it not being a happy ending (but on the other hand what's wrong with expecting queer characters…
I guess lets agree to disagree. I find that this wasn't too far off from real life. Shit like this happens all the time. But again, I respectfully respect your point of view.

Haven't cried like this in a long while but this drama and the last episode was absolutely worth it!!! Waiting…
Also, not a sad ending, but sad moments, you might want to check out He's coming to me. There were a few scenes that were really emotional.

If you think about it, every person that comes into our lives has a purpose and some may be "tools" to improve us or make fail.

Basically after reading all the comments I think I'm the only one who's not disappointed with the ending...I mean…
I keep putting my thoughts on spoiler tags because I don't want to "spoil it" but some people are seeing it as sad ending, but in my opinion it wasn't as tragic. I don't know if I should un-spoil it.

Of course it all matters. Hao Ting was throwing his future away, was living life without thinking of his future, his family etc. Xi Gu gave him a reason to become someone better. It wasn't for nothing. Xi Gu came to Hao Ting's life for a purpose and we may be sad that his life was cut short, but his impact was felt for years for Hao Ting. I find that beautiful because there are people in our lives that come in and leave suddenly, but they leave an impact that shapes our lives. Like wise, Xi Gu was given someone to love and who loved him back. Helped with his loneliness and while life was cruel in his early death, he still got to experience love and be someone's precious person. For him, his life became brighter and not miserable. I guess I just didn't think it was a bad ending. But we can agree to disagree.

The drama is calles "Make our days count". Pretty fitting I think.
For weeks I've been saying that the title was obviously hinting at something tragic. I don't know how some people didn't make a connection. I guess we've been spoiled so much by HIStory and their happy endings that people weren't ready for them to take on a more realist approach to life. I don't have a problem with the ending, I just have a problem with the execution of it, as it could have been done better. I still enjoyed it.

Wow. I am fortunately a person who likes sad endings and I think it all makes sense, so I won't criticize it.…

You can watch Sotus, Sotus S, Love By Chance to start if you want.
I don't necessarily disagree with you all the time. It's just the times when I see you critiquing things that have little to no sense. But, again, nothing is ever personal. ^_^

To all the people saying things like this is life.. come on... it is like if a movie like Meet the parents ended…
So you think that in real life people don't suddenly die? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Okay.

That's just it sometimes someone dies unexpectedly. There aren't always sign. My aunt died suddenly from a tumor…
That's the problem with a lot of BLs though. There are a lot of plot-holes and sometimes they expect the viewers to just "get it". For me one of the biggest issues with this drama was pacing and how "time" passed. But, I am not unhappy with the ending. I just see it as part of life. I also get that many BL fans love happy endings, but again a tragic ending isn't always a sad one. One just has to see the bigger picture and in my opinion the bigger picture here was that Hao Ting became a better person who valued his future thanks to Xi Gu. I don't know, I'm not unhappy with it.

I'm not sure. I don't think it will be the last, but I do think they will take a break. We were supposed to get a Crossing the Line movie, not sure if that was scrapped or not.

Sure. They were the ones that were in the locker room scene where Than/Thum gets upset over girls.

I know. I think it also has to do with the production team stating a while back that they were going to take a break. Some people just assumed that meant no more HIStories...but I don't think that is.

Exactly. I actually like stories like this. I have no problem with this kind of ending as life is not always rainbows and unicorns.

i could've accepted a sad ending if it would've been implied or foreshadowed in even the smallest way but all…
That's just it sometimes someone dies unexpectedly. There aren't always sign. My aunt died suddenly from a tumor we didn't know she had. She and her husband were the happiest people and she had given birth to her second child a year prior. So, shit like that does happen. Death doesn't come knocking at your door, sometimes it just comes and that's it.
