Sighs...I get it, I truly do. They are trying to give fans what they "asked" for, but what they are doing is sacrificing a good story telling for that. Instead of focusing on these two boys dealing with real issues such as the demands of school/tests, preparing to enter the real world etc, we are instead given manufactured drama from outside sources. It feels like I am watching middle-school/High school kids who are emotionally stunted. Like how can you have a person who graduated from college (Green's boyfriend) who is probably 24-25 years old act in such a manner and still come to school to be so unreasonable? I don't know of any college graduate that still hangs out at their school causing mischief. If he is so insecure in his relationship with Green, then he should really handle that privately, but given how they show him to be sort of aggressive, I wonder if Green just confronts him infront of people because he feels safe. Which then makes me wonder, why are they together then? Toxic and abusive relationships are NOT cute no matter how adorable the couple may be to fans.
ManType relationship just seems to lack something. I don't know what it is. I don't find them believable at this point. Sure they are the "mature" couple in this drama, but I aint buying what they are selling.
let me not even start with the editing. Some of it looks ameturish which is surprising given who is behind this project.
Wat/Tine...nope just nope.
I love Gunsmile. I've loved him nearly in everything he has acted...but this story arc of him and Pear (?) isn't doing it for me either. His antics are super exxagerated and not as cute. Jenny..why would she even allow herself to get on this sinking ship? Her entrance to this story made little sense. There was no buildup of how she even fit in the story only to again give fans an opportunity to see Wat be a "man" and kiss Tine. Jenny's character ended up looking so voyueristic uggg. I wish they stopped.
I might have to drop this if ep 3 just keeps going that way.
i feel like Gav has abandonment issues? bc of his parents, grandmother, terrence cheating, and now Cairo leaving/going…
I think people are misunderstanding his jeaolusy for actual fear of being abandoned once again. He has lost many people in his life and went through a very bad depression after losing his grandmother. And then adding his cheating boyfriend who should have been there for him and a pandemic, it makes total sense he feels threatened by this new person and Cairo essentially moving to a new town. I'm surprised he is holding as together as he is.
I have to ask.. Is it a Filipino thing, or just a thing in this series: the use of the word baby in every sentence?
Not just Filipinos. Latinos too are similar. The overuse of sweet words/terms of endearments pretty common place. It can be cringy, but you get used to it. I used to roll my eyes, but now I just shrug my shoulders.
Gav is such a great character. I think that his growth is so consistent with his back story. His insecurities come from a real place and it feels so relatable.
Same... the ending of episode 10 was actually quite closure providing, and even if they decide to end it here,…
I know. But MDL had it as "completed" a few hours ago and some of us were confused if something new about the drama came up. It appears it is fixed now.
I'm not sure why it no longer shows as airing, but if they (staff for the drama) have decided to end the story at ep 10 that would still be okay with me. I find that it would be a fitting end to this sweet drama. Either way, I'll give it my rating (9) and my review. Really enjoyed this little web series. Hope to see more from those boys.
I was such a cute drama. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I came into this with no expectation and wasn't disappointed. Although I am more hooked on Gameboys, this drama was also pretty relatable and easy to digest. Cliches abound for sure, but treated with a freshness that hasn't really been done with other BLs this year. Just learned there is also a movie in the works? It would be interesting to see where that leads.
I need to preface this comment--- [Please don't take my comments to heart, they are just opinions]
Well here I am. I wasn't going to give this a chance , but I said what the heck. Sighs, I think I might be outgrowing Thai Bls at this point. I will say that they did "try" to fix the issues in the first season, but personally it's just not doing it for me. I will continue to watch to see if it improves. I'm also telling myself that this is just a "fun project" so I shouldn't hold my breath on having an amazing story. I'll support the story because I really like Mike and TopTap (wish they had their own series)
overall, it looks like a silly boring plot with a lot of pandering to fans. Either way, much success to these actors.
Can somebody help me understand the hype? cuz I've watched 2 eps and felt annoyed and cringed a bit (especially…
I echo @dropintheocean 's comment. I think you should watch a few more episodes before you make a decision if you like it or not. I personally find this to be a well made real "Gay" drama and not "BL" if anyhting, if this drama continues in the way it has for the past 10 episodes, I believe that other BL producers should take a note or two on how to develop a story line and characters. Gav actually is a great representation of how to develop someone who initially seems one-dimensional. Actually, all characters have great development.
Gameboys as Curriculum in university? How does that work? Sorry for bothering but education in my country- India…
Given the limitations they had with filming due to COVID-19 and how they still managed to give a good drama, I would imagine that it would be a great way to teach other film students how to produce such a well made story.
Oooooo Filipino!!! Most of the Filipino BL I've seen is pretty sad and depressing but his one looks more like…
In my opinion, I don't even think this is BL...this is more like a proper LGBT series. Seriously great and I think a lot of Thai script writers can take some notes.
How is it possible GameBoys is still ranked only 8.8 after Ep 10? How?
We will have to wait until the end tbh. A lot of people got disspointed in a few BL dramas when it got to the end and some may be just waiting to see if this lives up to the way its been going. I personally think that it is deserving of 9
Even if they stop at episode 10, the series has done a real good job at telling the story and it would be a fitting end. The acting has been surprisingly nuanced and relatable. I appreciate the way they treat each subject matter.
I've been watching this series today (up to episode 5) and I've got to say it has been such a great and fun ride so far. I'm loving the friendship dynamic. I'm so afraid to watch Ep6 because of some of the comments, but I'll grin and bear with it. This short drama has really surprised me in how well it has been made.
ManType relationship just seems to lack something. I don't know what it is. I don't find them believable at this point. Sure they are the "mature" couple in this drama, but I aint buying what they are selling.
