the way tian hugged phupha once again at the airport because he was not ready to say goodbye made me cry so hard. that airport scene was so beautiful and so was the ending scene where they finally kissed. AND dr nam was literally shipping tian and phupha at his own wedding lol. he really is the captain of our ship to his very core. everything about this episode was amazing. likeeeee i could not have asked for a better ending. i just feel so empty now because next friday will come, and i won't get to watch a new episode of this series. even when i was feeling down, watching this series made me feel so happy. there were so many times, i would catch myself smiling at the screen like a fool. i'm so ready to bully gmmtv until they give us special episodes.

i think i have seen this plot millions of times, but with straight characters. in fact, true beauty had a similar plot? and it was very successful so this kind of plot still works today.

Does anyone know? In terms of popularity, how big is ATOTS in comparison with 2gether (the most successful thai…
2gether is still more popular because of its timing. it aired during quarantine when people had nothing to do and just wanted to enjoy watching a cute show to escape the reality of the world we were living in...

such a cute drama! the chemistry was good and the writing was pretty decent. i am a sucker for the soulmates trope so this was right up my alley although they don't really talk about it or use it to move the plot forward, i still appreciated the red thread references. after all, it was the red thread that brought them together (in the bus at the beginning) and it was the red thread the brought hong seok back to shi on. and of course, the whole debtor and creditor falling for each other was a really good concept as well.

i feel like k bls have the potential to be really really good in the future and yes i am talking about the length of the episodes. a lot of what is said and done gets lost somewhere or does not make a lot of sense because the episodes are too short but at the same time, the focus is on the main leads rather than some unnecessary love triangle or even a side couple. i appreciate these short bls for what they are and considering the fact that korea just started making bls officially last year, the quality of these shows is pretty good.

Ok, so I am from a developing country and here, and realistically speaking, you can't do anything without a college…
ikr. i'm an asian and all i can say is that not only would my parents disown me if i don't get a college degree but everyone else around me would treat me as someone who's illiterate and uneducated and ofc i won't be getting any good jobs. in america, u can do as you please but the reality here is that u have got to at least have an undergraduate degree to lead a somewhat respectful life.

the shows which usually make me cry aren't where someone dies and there's a big plot twist and yada yada. the shows which make me cry are where the 'reality' hits hard, where life hits hard like when khama told tian that the hardest thing to do is to forgive yourself. that hit too close home for me but the real tear jerker was the ending of the episode. do i want tian to forget all about his education and family and live in the village with phupha forever? YES. in an idealistic world, this would be the best case scenario but realistically speaking, phupha would only be holding tian back. so yeah i want tian to stay in the village forever but i also understand why he can't. all that we are certain about rn is that both of them love each other very much even though they haven't said it once.

i cried a lot but thankfully, phupha's fake beard made me laugh for a long time :)

I agree that this is definitely top-tier when it comes to BL of any form. They have chosen to move away from the…
umm what? i think the best part of ITSAY is the acting. yes, the cinematography is beautiful but its the acting that really makes the show what it is. i mean everyone is entitled to their own opinion but i don't understand how someone can deny the powerful and effective acting by the lead actors.

The amount of debate for the last episode is truly astounding. It's nice people are putting more thoughts to the…
yeah exactly! i think that usually in bls, we don't get any personality arcs of any character ever. they just meet and fall in love but their character arcs are never explored. phupha's character is the victim of that same trope of being a love interest in a bl but this case is exceptional because tian has a lot of personality and is a well written character in general so we as the viewers would want the same for phupha as well.

so I'm seeing mixed reviews about the show ...should I watch it or not bc when it comes to BLS I do have high…
you should watch it!! i don't think the reviews are mixed because this is a bad or even an average bl, they are mixed because we all are NOT judging it on a bl level. it is far superior than the average bls made, the only bl that could possibly surpass this one is ITSAY. is it an accurate portrayal of what gay love is? idk cause i am not a gay man but it is definitely an accurate portrayal of two people falling in love with each other. the chemistry is REALLY good and overall, the storyline is pretty interesting.

the thing i sometimes really dislike about this show is the objectification of earth's character. now don't get me wrong, i am not saying that earth has a problem in showing some skin but there are scenes of him taking a shower that just do not help with the plot. if they were added to show how tian was physically attracted to phupha, it would've been somewhat understandable but most of them were not. by watching the behind the scenes, i got to know that he literally had to take a shower in a cold weather and the director told him to 'act sexy'. that's um..........alright, i guess but it makes it so much worse when phupha's character is under written. like we don't really know much about him except for the fact that he is strict. ep 7's last part was the worst scene of the entire show because phupha's character(which was already under developed to begin with) was compromised for the sake of giving their audience some eye candy. instead of being the old-fashioned, awkward and strict guy we thought he was, he ended up showing his toxic masculinity.

in contrast, tian's character has depth. the character development is chef's kiss. when you treat a character like an object, it dehumanises them. just notice the camera angles when its phupha in the frame vs when its tian is in the frame. phupha could be shirtless during the entirety of the show if that's his thing but its the camera angles that really tell you when a character is being sexualised. again, i don't have a problem with people showing their skin on camera but in this show, its done a whole lot, even at the expanse of a character's original traits.

ohhh up is the guy who played the role of 'hok' in girl from nowhere.......... and that's why its hard for me to start watching this show.

okay sooo after completing my exam,,,,, i finally watched the eighth episode and........... WOAH... what just happened?

first of all, i totally understand why the villagers hated him after he said he was responsible for torfun's death but phupha's reaction wasn't what i was expecting. first of all, he went through tian's stuff without his permission, i would've much rather preferred it if he found her diary like longtae did (searching for his meds or something) but instead he had to invade his privacy.

second, did phupha ever tell the villagers that he was the one who decided to hide torfun's death from them, in a way- he lied and deceived the villagers more than tian ever could as phupha owes it to the villagers to tell the truth and tian does not. in the end, tian was the one who got all the blame whilst the rangers too knew all along but just decided to hide it from everyone.

why do the villagers even like torfun so much? like yeah she spent a few months with them and she was nice and everything but they seem literally obsessed with her. in contrast, tian literally risked his own life for them, made these kids and the other villagers his main priority but the villagers do not seem to like him all that much. like what did tian do to y'all ?

i really like (or dislike?) how self-aware tian is. he knows that in a way he was responsible for torfun's death and he feels the guilt but boy you gotta start respecting yourself and loving yourself. i don't believe in stuff like 'u can't love someone unless u love yourself' because u can love someone else even if u hate yourself BUT this is an extreme case. tian's gotta know that he is a good person (at least now) who deserves happiness and he needs to stop putting himself in dangerous situations.

i was really mad at phupha but then......................... he took a bullet for tian so idk... i am still trying to process my emotions about that. the hornbill scene was so perfectly used and made me emotional- the director really exceeded my expectations there.

i really enjoyed tian and longtae's friendship and i absolutely adored khaotung's performance in this. please save him from shows like 'homophobic chonlatee' and give him better roles gmmtv!

the ending scene was so bittersweet cause we all know what happened after that *sigh*. i really really love this show and i hope we get some cute moments and interactions in the next episode. tbh i don't even care if they kiss or not, them staring at each other already makes me all giddy inside.
On A Tale of Thousand Stars Mar 13, 2021
i am pretty sure tian was not the one who killed torfun as he was literally fighting for his life at the hospital when she died. i just feel bad for him at this point....... he keeps doing the right thing but nothing ever goes his way. the people around him (even phupha) sometimes treat him as if he is just a replacement of torfun and not his own person. the villagers are probably gonna hate him after he tells him all that and it sucks cause.... it was the rangers' responsibility to tell the villagers about torfun's death and also tian has put his life into danger so many times for these people but its just like......he ends up getting hurt no matter what he does. the whole thing is also so illogical because its your brain and your mind which gives you thoughts and feelings and other stuff that makes you who you are and not your heart. brain is responsible for the secretion of hormones that play a role in falling in love/attraction and the way you are (your personality) is a result of genetic factors and the things you've experienced in your life from your childhood till now so NO having torfun's heart can't change tian into torfun. it just doesn't work like that.
On Tonhon Chonlatee Mar 11, 2021
khaotung looks and acts better in 1000 stars than this. he was really done dirty with this show. imo he could do so much better than what this series gave him. i hope his next project as a main character would be a good one.

not y'all getting getting mad at the children working with the adults and calling it child labour whilst y'all don't say anything when there are shows which have much worse stuff happening- rapey scenes, homophobia, forced kissing, harmful stereotypes about queer people etc. this is why we can't have nice things i guess...

Title A Tale of Thousand Stars Spoiler
the way i had so many mental breakdowns because of different things in one single episode:

1. did phupha finally see torfun's diary? what is he gonna do about it?
2. why is tian talking so loudly to longtae? the villagers or phupha can hear you
3. seetian not understanding what phupha meant when he said 'you're not alone'.
4. phupha being a dumbass and getting jealous of longtae and saying nothing about it to tian
5. phupha NOT saying 'i want you to stay here so bad, its not the villagers or the kids, ITS ME'.
6. the fire of course and the memories tian had made me so sad.
7. tian risking his life for the 1000th time now by running into the fire
8. him getting the kite..... like u really want me to cry that bad huh.

with that said, i do not think they will kiss in the next episode 'cause tian is probably gonna tell him about the torfun situation and the kiss will be aborted..........
