just dropping by to say that kang sol a is such a relatable character. when she worked hard and she still didn't get good results, it was so realistic because in real life, hard work doesn't always guarantees success. also, i felt her when she was drinking and talking to joon hwi about it. such a good and likeable main character!

i would trust professor yang with my whole life..........
why can't professors irl be like him? all we get are half-assed teachers high on tea with 10 sugar cubes who only teach for the money and don't even properly answer the questions asked by their students

my ranking of all the episodes:

episode 2: true love
episode 1: pregnant
episode 7: jennyx
episode 4: yuri
episode 6: liberation
episode 3: minnie and the four bodies
episode 8: the judgement
episode 5: SOTUS

ps: jenny/jane really didn't deserve what she got. that was SO unfair. i think people like jenny, minnie, nanai are still better than yuri who nanno not only saved but she gave her those special powers that she's definitely not gonna use for anything good. i usually never feel bad for nanno's victims but this time, i did. if nanno treated all of them equally, i'd understand that but because she favored yuri, i began to see the flaws in nanno. remember when yuri wanted to take over THAT business? yeah that's the kind of person nanno revived. head's empty, waiting for season 3 for nanno to finally be the badass she was in the first season.

i have watched a couple of episodes and this show is so cool. i feel like its effortlessly intriguing. like u know the shows which try too hard to appear eDgY, well this show seems a bit more natural.

the ending was good.

i liked that their story ended where it started, they really came full circle with that. apart from that, i like that nubsib finally got himself out of that contract and gene finally had the freedom to write whatever he wanted to write. i liked the friendship between gene and hin, that part in the episode was really heartwarming. i just feel like, i wanted them to have more conversations with each other than those scenes where they recreated those endings. i think we could've done without those scenes as they add nothing to the actual plot of the show.

i'm conflicted about how i feel about aoey's arc. yes, he's not the best person but damn. the ending was a little too harsh in my opinion. i like that they showed us that just because a person is well liked by people online, it doesn't mean that the person is happy in real life but aoey was just treated so badly since the beginning and i personally have a thing for morally grey characters so i was hoping for a happier ending for him.

with that said, the first half of the show was much better than the second half. don't get me wrong, the second half was good as well but sometimes, things didn't make much sense.

overall, it was a pretty good show and it was really fun to watch!

The writing makes no sense. Just tell everyone Sib & Gene are childhood friends. It's easily verifiable and everyone…
ah this makes a lot of sense. i've said this before but even if sib/gene lose their job, they have the money and resources to do things normal people could only ever dream of. i think that most bls have rich characters because they're already dealing with a topic that is still 'sensitive' in media so if you also add the social class commentary in it, it will be a lot harder for the show runners to work with it. on the other hand, we have a bl that does have a poor character and deals with this social issue and actually does a pretty good job at it and yes, i am talking about 'a tale of thousand stars'.

ok so here’s what tee (the director of lovely writer) said about the whole situation:

he explained that how it all ended up was kind of like a punishment for nubsib because nubsib is the one who planned everything since the beginning in the wrong way (the stalking, the lying etc).

To be honest I am very disappointed at Gene for ALWAYS putting others first instead of his own well-being. But…
what that gotta do with him being a top? stop being a creep you fetishising weirdo

episode 11 was SO GOOD! the thing is, you can look at the situation from any character's perspective and it will make sense but one thing i'd like to say in nubsib's defense is that he doesn't really want to be an actor. he only acted in the series for gene so it shouldn't be a big deal if he refuses to do what the producers tell him to do. if he was a typical newbie actor whose income depended on acting then i'd understand but nubsib's family is rich af so he could always follow in his dad's footsteps but most importantly, nubsib is a college student lmao, he shouldn't be expected to make money anyway. gene saying that 'you haven't asked for money from your parents' makes sense because nubsib is independent and that's great for him but every normal college student gets their allowance from their parents or a part time job so its no big deal if he 'jepordaises his career'. maybe he could get his degree and do what he actually wants to do.

also i think it would be a shame if i don't mention up's acting. until now, i think i've enjoyed his acting but dang you know an actor is good when they can nail that ugly crying scene without coming off as cringy or overacting. so yeah i'm glad that bls these days consider an actor's acting abilities and not just looks (although up is such a cutie) while casting.

ps: i really liked that short scene with gene and his dad. 'i finally understand what you meant'. breaking up with nubsib hurt gene as much as it hurt nubsib if not more.

so.......... they give a character a redemption arc. we see a lot of character development and everyone loves this character but they decide to kill all his progress and kill him off. so basically, if you're the bad guy and you turn into a good person, you will still die. i hope the actor who plays jang han seo gets better roles in the future because he's a really charismatic actor.

apart from that, i feel like this show was really good. i have no problem with the whole good guys vs bad guys trope, i feel like it makes up for an interesting story although vincenzo considers himself a 'villain'. i personally think that he's a pretty good guy.

the problem that some people have is that this show promotes 'communism' and somehow for these people, communism is the root cause of all evil. weirdly, anything that condemns the rich people getting richer by exploiting poor people is somehow the definition of communism and is the worst thing ever.

lastly, the acting was SO GOOD. song joong ki shined as vincenzo casssano and yeo bin gives life to the character of hong cha young!

i don't have a problem with people defending their favorite show but i was not hating on the show. i actually like watching it. there's just a big difference between hate and constructive criticism.

Er....you forgot the part where Hin was so depressed because his novel receives a lot of criticism. I'm sure this…
yeah i totally get that revolting against your boss is.....well..... unrealistic but this is a show right? so they could've gone for it. isn't it depressing that gene still has to do what he hated since the beginning? wouldn't it be a breath of fresh air to see gene do what he wants to do. after all, it is HIS novel, not his boss' novel, not hin's novel so it just makes me sad that he has to write what other people tell him to. he doesn't have a free will which again as you said, life is not so easy but this is just a show- its not real life. they could've totally gone for that plot-gene learning not to take a shit from anyone and doing what he wants to, writing what he wants to. well, its okay, i still like him a lot but still, i hate that he is being forced to do something and he doesn't say NO.

why are you getting so defensive over nubsib? i actually like nubsib's character sometimes but he's just really controlling at times which is not healthy. ofc he loves gene more than anything but sometimes he's just TOO protective.
On Lovely Writer Apr 30, 2021
okay so i think that the last episode was.................. interesting.
the family part was great and it was just as i had expected it to be. nubsib and gene's relationship and how much they've progressed since the beginning was also portrayed well. nubsib, gene and hin's cafe scene was really cute and NO it was not stalking because gene himself sent him his location. i personally did not mind the product placements but i guess that is just me. their beach scene was also really cute and made me all giddy inside. gene advising hin was also really heartwarming- not only does it inspires people - writers more so than anyone else to not give up even if they receive a bit of criticism but it also makes gene a more likeable character and allows him to exist in the show as his own person- more than just nubsib's boyfriend.

but oh boy did this episode make me cringe at times.
first of all, i won't go much into detail about tum and tiffy's dynamic because people in the comments have already explained what's wrong with that but dang! they had such a good opportunity to write a couple who are far from your average cliches but they failed miserably at that. tiffy assuming tum's sexuality is the most disgusting thing ever. just because he's respectful and doesn't treat you like shit (like saying 'go to a room with me' after that rap) doesn't mean he's gay lmao. they completely failed at writing a hetero relationship. they should've just stuck with the good-girl-bad-boy narrative cause at least they know how to do that as its been done a million times before.

now let's get back to our main character- gene. i thought this show was really doing something. i thought gene would finally say 'i'm not going to write nc scenes because i don't want to' but rather we see hin telling him that he should write them leading to gene finally accepting that writing those scenes is his fate. he still doesn't look happy with having to write those, but it doesn't seem like he will openly revolt against his boss anytime soon which totally sucks because the moral of the story is- EVEN IF YOU HAVE NIGHTMARES, YOU STILL HAVE TO WRITE NC SCENES CAUSE THAT'S WHAT SELLS.

lastly, i hope nubsib stops being that controlling because its all fine in the beginning but as their relationship progresses, its gonna be really tough for gene. and i mean this is just a show so they won't go there but if y'all ever meet a guy as controlling as sib, RUN!

a tale of thousand stars is the healthiest bl ever created (at least in my opinion), i told sunset about you is unproblematic and cherry magic is also very heartwarming and healthy. sadly, i could only think of three bls with no controversial and problematic elements.
