Hahahahahaha they are getting steamier and steamier….and steamier. I can’t forget the 3some in Unforgotten…
Preach!! Probably my favorite NC scene of all time. I mean they had me in my feels since episode 2 And I think it is because of the care Payu takes with Rain. The touches, the looks, the encouragement, and showing his love. I can’t discuss any longer because my pulse is through the roof.
I used to be: give me a good story and I don’t mind if it is a lip touch—Color Rush. Especially after Why RU that lost the story, and over compensated with sex. But F that. There is no reason a show can’t have a good story and show intimacy between a couple. The sex and dirty talk is a bonus, but Rain and Payu show a high level of intimacy and closeness with out it. Mame is stepping her game up and I am all in.
I agree with most of your comment about mom with the exception of “a manipulative girl who sticks to a man who…
I’m sorry I should have clarified. I’m referring to commenters who watch and think that any show involving two men in a relationship or possible relationship is a BL.
I agree with most of your comment about mom with the exception of “a manipulative girl who sticks to a man who…
You make a fair point! The other comments focused on just her and didn’t include Other reasons why she may be that way. But your clarifications are fair.
My questioning whether she is homophobic really stems from the masses who sees every character flaw as homophobic, or prejudice, or toxic etc. This by no means excuses poor behavior. Toxic is starting to lose its meaning when every character that makes a mistake is labeled toxic. I can definitely see how her behavior is homophobic. I can also see that she loves her son and want what she perceives as best. For me, she is one of those characters I neither love or hate, but is complex. Or maybe I suffer from wishful thinking that she will accept her son because of the love she has for him and her reaction was because of her poor experience with her husband.
I agree with most of your comment about mom with the exception of “a manipulative girl who sticks to a man who…
I vibe with your rationale. I was hesitant to continue this because of the whole Father/son/friend love story. I find storylines like this heard to accept: there are 7 million men in Thailand and you choose your father’s best friend/best friend’s son? But this is on another level and 100 percent worth the watch. It bothers me when they put shows like this in the BL category. I’m all about innovation, but I have certain expectations of BL and this does not conform in any way. I know I’m being narrow minded here, but BLs should stay fluffy and the raw stuff, like this, should fall under LGBTQ. There is a major spectrum for gay shows, and I dislike this show falling under the abalone trope.
I’m glad you pointed out the expectations of women. Lots of commenters discuss societal views on gays as a way of understanding (excusing) In and Siam’s choices, but don’t consider the expectations placed on Mol as a woman. So what she asked In to be in her plays to get close to Siam… He could have declined to help her. She had no way of knowing their relationship because no one told her. And there is nothing wrong with her wanting to make her marriage work. There are so many shows that depict children suffering for having a single parents. Gosh she is a character that is so complex, but easily categorized based on everything people dislike about women.
The 2nd paragraph, specifically, is incredibly insightful. I have always applauded shows that show condom usage…
You have a serious point. Unfortunately people tend to not understand because of how HIV/AIDS was reported in the media; especially when very little was known about the disease. My sister died of AIDS in the 90s and I’m sure you can imagine the judgement and discrimination my family received because of this. It’s not exclusive to the gay community, but it is definitely a subtle nudge if you read into it.
Another thought that occurred to me is (American) shows and movies create entire plot lines surrounding unprotected sex: pregnancy. And no one is ever appalled about the possibility of STIs. They never go to the clinic for tests except of the pregnancy variety. This is just as subtle as the black guy dying first and the gay couple’s tragic ending.
Something we have not discussed that I wanted to bring up was the very brief moment when the girl went over to…
The 2nd paragraph, specifically, is incredibly insightful. I have always applauded shows that show condom usage because I assume they are promoting safe sex, regardless of gender. I have not considered that when condoms are shown in BLs, there may be other motivations that perpetuate the gay stereotypes about sex. There is absolutely nothing wrong with practicing safe sex (virgin or no virgin), but there is something wrong with the representation being exclusive to gay couples. I hardly saw hetero couples with these types of scenes unless it was because of cheating or promiscuity and the risk is imminent. And this is unheard of when couples have agreed to be in an exclusive relationship, especially when the woman is on some form of birth control. Does this mean the world has gotten too progressive or will you be judged for being OTT? I appreciate the perspective of your comment.
What this show does right, it does nearly perfectly. The camerawork, the editing, the sound, each line of dialogue…
I agree with most of your comment about mom with the exception of “a manipulative girl who sticks to a man who doesn't love her until he agrees to marry her, a girl who fractures the relationship between two lifelong friends”
How is this entirely her fault? she was in love with Siam when they married, so the expectation of her to just drop those feelings are unrealistic. She suffered because of her husband’s lack of communication about his wants and needs. Did the husband intentionally betray her? I’m not sure, but it’s not fair that Mol is taking the brunt of the responsibility of her marriage failing when her husband was not honest about being in love with his male friend. Had he been honest, and Mol blackmailed him, I would agree that she broke the men’s friendship. But Had Siam admitted he didn’t have those romantic feelings for Mol, this would not have happened. This doesn’t excuse some of her overbearing and poor behavior, but I understand why she is that way. She suffered for so many years with very little support, and to expect her to just get over it and grow up is a bit cruel. I don’t love everything about her, but she is a product of her environment. I pity her because she doesn’t understand how this happened before and is happening now. I am also questioning if she is truly homophobic or just angry with her terrible luck. Am I just being too much of a pushover and too understanding?
I get what you mean and why she brings you so much disdain. They do not make her likable unless you are really digging deep into her or you see her in yourself. They truly need more development in In and Wang’s relationship too. I am not rooting for them because their relationship is built on the pain and suffering of their loved ones. And I’m not sure their attraction is mutually sincere: Wang who looks like a past love and In the object of a fantasy. Unless they can fix it in episode 8, they just need to close this chapter and move forward.
people have the right to not support anyone who is known to be mean and nasty. People don't change, they just…
This is refreshing to read. Recognizing and admitting to detrimental behaviors and making efforts to change it. I teach 9th graders, and I have witnessed real time changes in their maturity level from the time they get to me thru the time they leave high school. It is what keeps me motivated to continue the craft despite the current culture climate.
WOW(^o^) the NC scene literally had me falling from my chair 🔥🔥🔥🔥
It’s ok. I was so unprepared that I had a pool of drool from my mouth hanging open so long….. how often do we see dirty talk in a scene?? That’s what did me in. If they give us one more NC scene this hot, my heart will explode!
I love how everyone is only talking about the kiss and s*x scene when Rain is literally got kidnapped and that…
And let’s not forget when he realizes it was Payu who left the adjustable triangle ( not sure of the technical name). That was just such a sweet realization. Payu draws tornados on all his notes to Rain, so it makes this scene even sweeter.
I am going with this theory: since the other productions had such major casting issues, there is little promotion…
You are incredibly knowledgeable, so I appreciate the detailed response. I don’t remember where I watched the first two seasons, but it was probably on one of those random websites or a fan blog. I don’t know what I would do without Viki and YouTube, so I hope it gets there. Viki has picked up more Thai shows, so it is possible. I agree with an earlier comment you made about The cast being attractive this time around too. I hope the chemistry is there and the acting is decent. I don’t have social media so I’ll rely on your posts to keep me updated!!
Ok, so... is anyone else concerned about how little information is Motive Village putting out? I mean, there's…
I am going with this theory: since the other productions had such major casting issues, there is little promotion so as not to bring negative attention to the new cast. If the show is amazing, we’ll do the talking for them and spread the word. If it’s bad, well no one knew anyway, so no big loss. Although I appreciate that we will not be left on a cliffhanger from season 2, so even if it’s bad, I’ll probably still watch for the closure.
I hope it’s available for international fans. This is the best looking cast thus far, and I hope their acting is above average!
I'm a person who's obsessed with perfectly choreographed NC scenes and so if it's not well done then I'll probably…
“ as much as we all love the spice in Bls the characters need to have an established relationship first or at least confess before having s*x”
You make such a strong point. Rain and Payu’s scene felt like they were making love, not just having sex. I loved this scene better than PeteVegas because the PeteVegas scene felt like fan service to me. I liked it, I truly did, but it was not a scene that looked like the characters spent all day filming as one said in an interview. The RainPayu scene had me in my feels and that is incredibly hard to do. The trusting look Rain gives Payu, the level of care and gentleness Payu shows toward Rain is another level. (Don’t hate me friend!)
I totally agree!!!! I felt their scene was so much better than PeteVegas and pretty much every other BL. I am still trying to process my feelings of why.
