I thought I might just share some information. This isn't hate or criticism btw, but I see a lot of people asking about heat index, how well it's doing etc and wanted to provide some context and extra info. Yeh this show is doing very well on Maoyan charts, but Maoyan rates based on not just views but also social medial engagements, trending topics etc. It's more a rating about a shows social medial/trending status, as well as popularity.

This show isn't doing that well on Yunhe and Kuyun charts which tracks viewership numbers/smarket share only, and are used widely in the industry to determine a shows viewership success and market share. What this means is that while it's trending on social media and has hot topic searches etc, its viewership numbers/market share compared to other dramas airing aren't that great. This may be attributed to the bad global distribution by linmon, or thriving land being such an unexpected mega hit I don't know.

Again this isn't hate or meant as criticism, I'm really loving this drama so far, but thought I would share information on potentially why the heat index isn't rising as fast as some people think it should. The viewership numbers just aren't that great right now. However, I do hope they improve, this show deserves it.

Importantly, I'm not saying either one is better than the other, they are both useful and both measure different metrics, this is just providing context. Also when thriving land ends on the 23rd, numbers will likely go up massively, so looking forward to that.

Won't lie to you, doing well on Maoyan charts, topping number 1 both days, but not doing that well on Yunhe or Kuyun charts. Those charts track online playback views only, where as Maoyan is more a shows popularity including views but also social media engagements etc. So it's very good that this show tops Maoyan, but when looking at viewership online only, it's not doing too well in china I won't lie. This isn't hate, I love the show, but viewership numbers aren't that great right now.

It's not doing well on the yunhe or kuyun rankings for now unfortunately, deserves better

Same, hopefully not, they've created a lot more drama/potential misunderstandings in the show so we'll have to wait and see if thats good or bad

In the novel they had an engagement since chapter 1 and marry in chapter 30ish so pretty early. ML was in love wither her from ages ago, she found him interesting and liked him so went along with the marriage. She fell in love with him slowly after marriage. However, the drama is completely different from the novel so as for what happens with their marriage in the drama, have to wait and see

Not complete fantasy, in the novel (which is only 50ish chapters mind you so super small), he is experimented on and gains powers through some kind of gu worm from a witch sect. I wouldn't say fantasy, most of it is grounded in reality, but there is this one fantasy element where he gains powers from the experiments and dealing with that gu worm.

I gotta say the ending fight in ep 6 when MZY was throwing out talismans to fight was so badass, looked so good

I'm so looking forward to express tomorrow, if not for anything else, just to see HRF suffer and then more sweet moments between HY and XJ

Hard to say, heat index normally the highest around the middle to end, so I think will be somewhere between 29-30k. Remember heat index only counts mainland china viewers on the china tencent app/website they don't count anything global

Yeh I agree he never like crossed the line, he knew his master committing treason and working with wutao was over the line, but I won't judge too early see what happens tomorrow

Yeh I agree especially after today's eps I think they both do, I wish we knew who the screenwriter was so I could have a look at their previous work, but I'm hoping there's not too much angst in their relationship, and we leave the angst/drama to the demon fighting part

I know they're settings us up for one, but I hope when they both find out each others identities, we don't have too much of a misunderstanding/cold war, preferably we don't have one at all, but if we must, let it be a short one

Ngl based on the ep 34 preview of CZ, did not see that coming. He seemed so in control of his emotions, plotting against his master, not giving anything a way to anyone. A little out of character for him, but thats just based on the preview.

He Ru Fei is so dumb, one important characteristic of a general is foresight, being able to see moves ahead and being patient. Like XJ letting the emperor know that HY was a woman, he saw HRF coming from a mile away. Meanwhile HRF is impatient, wanting to expose her quickly thinking he's smart. Outplayed by XJ so easily. Also how many times have HRF used the trick of delaying reinforcements, like no ones gonna notice. Man is a one trick pony.

You can only see it on the china version of the tencent website/app, click on the tencent link above should take you to the Chinese tencent website if it's not blocked in your region. Otherwise just have to wait and people in the comments will update or if you have access to weibo. It just passed 25k, probably won't reach 28k tonight, normally on weekends it will be higher.

Episode 29 absolutely served everything we wanted, one of the best eps so far

No problem some of my favorites, probably seen some if not most as they all pretty popular but:
Story of Kunning palace
One and only (super traumatic last few eps but very good)
The double
Joy of life 1 and 2
A journey to love, really good
Rise of Ning (some people found the romance a bit weird though)
Legend of Shen li
Flourished Peony (season 1 really good, season 2 not bad but not as good)
Coroner's diary, just ended good if you're into crime solving with a bigger plot type dramas
Imperial coroner similar to one above
A wonderland of love
Just off the top of my head those of some I really enjoyed

I found it decent/entertaining personally, novel written by the same person who wrote the double and legend of female general. ML's acting was ok, was a bit stiff/bland at times but I feel like thats how he was written, wasn't bad in my opinion but nothing special. The FL was the star, really good. But be warned it's a super dark type drama similar to story of kunning palace in tone (SOKP way better though overall in my opinion). Not romance heavy or action heavy, more about plotting and schemes. Revenge and scheming and secrets always come first in this drama. Also personally I didn't like the ending. It's not a bad watch, it's decent/good if you have the time, and like those types of plotting/revenge dramas. FL was very good but otherwise nothing that special. And don't expect happy endings. If you have the time it will keep you entertained, but for me, wasn't anything too special.

Highest heat index of 2025 on tencent is The Glory with 30,180 just ahead of prisoner of beauty at 30,055, only those 2 broke 30k

The novel did him so dirty it was sad, didn't deserve it
