Yeh ngl Wu Zi Shu threw me, completely different from what I expected. But I'm interested to see where it goes with his story.

Might find it interesting that just a few days ago the NRTA, which make the guidelines and laws for Chinese television, lifted the rules on limiting dramas to 40 episodes. So in the future, we are able to have longer cdramas, no longer is there a 40 episode limit going forward.

I agree, besides having the same world setting and some of the characters having the same personalities/characteristics, pretty much a whole new story. Which isn't bad.

From what I understand, 18 years ago there was some kind of divine fire the occurred. The ML thinks a demon did it. During that fire, ML's parents passed away (specifically his mother, not sure about his father). FL's mother passed away shortly after birth, not connected go the fire. However, during the fire she had an accident and was in a coma, thought to be dead but she suddenly woke up (we know later she was given powers by the former cat master). Hope that helps a bit, so ML is investigating this fire to find out the demon responsible for his mother that died during the fire. FL's job is to find the and destroy the bones, that are connected to the demonic infant. The wood is not related to 18 years ago as far as we know so far, but is a powerful peice of wood that is said to be able to suppress the demonic infant's powers. I'm sure eventually the demonic infant and divine fire from 18 years ago will connect to each other somehow but right now there's no connection. As for the third wheel, its a bit weird because in the novel there was another third wheel (he is also listed in the cast) so soon we could be seeing two third wheels trying to kill ML and get the FL. But we'll see what happens. I totally understand, a lot of information on the up take, I had to re watch a couple times to make sure I caught everything.

Depends where you are, some people can watch it on viu, some on mztv YouTube, but for most people, like in America and Europe it's not available anywhere (unless you want to pirate). Seems to be releasing on viki soon though

I definitely get you, personally I feel the story will really get started once they both know each other's secrets and work together properly. I feel like thats when it will really take off. We have got a few hints at this demon infant or whatever it's called though, elder hui seems to be working for him in some way, and the bones are connecting to them. I feel like maybe collecting the bones will help resurrect this demon infant or something like that. Mean while we have mini demon cases along the way. It's like a detective drama, demonic infant/demon bones as the main case, with mini demon cases along the way.

I don't think he's barred from love, it's more lust. He thought he dreamed kissing her, which he saw as lust, not love. And lust is seen as impure. So he was having impure thoughts. As a taoist cultivator his spirit is meant to be pure and righteous. And lust is seen as impure, how like it's often seen as one of the seven sins, that kind of thing. Thats what I think at least. Plus, since he's been a taoist since young, he probably hasn't experienced romantic love so he's still sorting things out.

Just so you know, no drama ever has crossed 35k, highest ever is joy of life 2 at mid 34k. But I hope and I believe this will cross 30k.

Pretty much, honestly in the novel, we have obsessive cousin and the rest of the plot is just their like day to day life as a married couple fighting demons. There's barely any drama or action, so they increased the drama a bunch in the show and changed the plot completely. Looking forward to seeing how everything ends up.

hahaha yeh I mean weibo is huge in china so a show doing well on there is definitely impressive, only day 2 as well so I guess it must be something impressive which is good

Oh yeh that, I saw a post for that, it said the show surpassed 15 million bullet comment interactions on weibo, not sure what bullet comment interactions are exactly but some kind of milestone on weibo I guess. I assume a lot of people are talking about it on weibo so it's a good thing, even though I'm not exactly sure what bullet comments are 😂
