Yeh they're still cohesive, they flow well, just fast, but still coherent and cohesive. Everything makes sense. Some people have mentioned though that Cheng Li Su due to the face swap sometimes his character appears weird like a blend of the current actor and the old one, I personally don't see it but maybe cause I'm not too familiar with that actor anyway. But just a heads up some people have mentioned it but only in some scenes they said. For me, he looks fine, maybe his neck looks a bit too long for his face, but its the type of thing where if you don't know or aren't looking for it, can't really tell.

Hahah true being stabbed and falling of a cliff is like a rite of passage for an ml or fl of a historical drama. Yeh there was on explanation at all, definitely a plot hole but not a big deal. Due to the scandal of the previous actor that played the 3rd ml Cheng Li Su, his scenes were all replaced by a new actor and face swapping and green screen technology but also a lot of his scenes were cut. Thus, the episodes are pretty short. Hope you enjoy it!

Sorry to hear about your insomnia and pain, hopefully your pain can be cleared up soon! And hopefully watching some cdramas take the edge off. If you like action, I think you will like this, not too much action yet, but still a good amount sparring and a few fight/duel scenes, but you can already tell from the first 4 eps there will be some great war/big fight scenes when it comes around. Since you don't care how they survive a cliff fall (same as me really) then its perfect for you, as she falls from a cliff and we get a cut scene to a month later to her in a bed saved already, no explanation really. Pace is fast, and episodes are only like 30 mins when you skip start and end credits, so honestly the episodes go really fast. Since we have met in a few different dramas we seem to have similar taste so far, so looking forward to seeing what you think about this one. Like others have said, may have to take your logic cap off for a bit, but nothing really that glaring or obvious besides the whole pretending to be a women in an army camp. Overall, it's enjoyable and some interesting characters.

Not so far, but just started after all. There will be a lot, based on trailers and the novel, and you can just feel it.

Personally, I like it. It's going at a fast pace, love the chemistry between ml and fl. I love that in ep 4 ML already realizes the FL is a girl pretending to be a guy. So no long misunderstands, he already knows. However, the major problem many people have are the logic flaws, particularly in ep 1 regarding how she survives being stabbed and falling off a cliff. And also how ML doesn't realize that FL as general was replaced/swapped with her bother. However, this is explained by others below in comments, as they hadn't met in years since their schools days, so her being unrecognizable as a general and not ML knowing she was replaced is logical. Anyway, some logical flaws, but overall I find it enjoyable, I think the ML and FL carry this drama right now, love the fight choreo and overall an enjoyable watch, but thats just my opinion.

Yeh its horrible she did so much, taking the place of her brother, being raised as a boy since birth, fighting in countless wars, becoming a general, only to be betrayed by her own family. Side note and spoiler: I love how in ep 4 ML already knows FL is a girl pretending to be a guy, so refreshing how he found out so quick, they didn't make the misunderstanding/secret go for ages.

Their ranks are pretty similar, still in military, Xiao Jue's official rank is commander of the right army, still known as general Feng Yun, and He Yan is promoted to a marquise. She was promoted because even though the new emperor relied on and trusted Xiao Jue, he was still wary of him having too much power, so he promoted his wife instead, for their help. As for her family, her family is not involved but her father and brother try to killer her, actually in the drama mostly her bother, its unclear if her father knew her brother would kill her, but her father drugged her and blinded her.

Changed slightly, she's blinded by her father and brother. Then her brother sends someone to kill her, she gets stabbed and falls off a cliff. But survives thanks to her master/old friend saving her. Thats they part they changed form the novel

No 100%, c-ent is weird, sure dude got drunk and vandalized a car or whatever he did, but he was punished, went to jail and got a fine or whatever. Crazy how someone in c-ent can just be fully blacklisted all of a sudden and how all their scenes removed. Definitely crazy, honestly just happy we got the drama, thought it was gonna never be released for a second. But would love to see the scenes that were actually cut. 30 min episodes for this level of budget are crazy. Honest ML and FL carrying hard right now imo.

I read the novel for Mo Li, really similar vibes and very good. They are filming the drama right now for it, so I read it for that. It's called Sheng Shi Di Fei by Feng Qing.

Thats the link if interested. Similar independent, strong FL and solider/general type ML, both characters pretty similar and similar vibe overall.

Also if you haven't already, there's the novel which the cdrama The double is based off, by the same author. Very good cdrama, haven't read the book (except the start which I read as I wanted to know difference between the novel and drama) but the plot of the cdrama is very similar and by the same author as this one.

It's like being in high school compared to when you get a proper job as an adult. Or look at the bodies of athletes in their high school days compared to being in the pro's. Growth spurts happen in between, soldiers especially fighting and training everyday put on muscle and grow bigger. Only natural.

Yeh they reshot with a new actor, used face swapping technology and green screen, where he filmed by himself then they swapped him in.

The actors name is Ling ming de, he would have played Cheng Li Su. First in Jan, a production he was in alleged he was very troublesome, causing a lot of troubles on set, saying he had bad behavior etc. Then in Feb, he was arrested for drunkenly getting violent and vandalizing a car. After that he was essentially black listed from cdrama world as getting arrested is a big no no, and thus was replaced. Therefore, a reason for the delay and cut scenes.
