Apparently, she had a lot more scenes added in that are different from the novel and donghua. People were unhappy they didn't follow source material, so those scenes were cut. Apparently, she was unhappy with her scenes being cut so she's not promoting this dram at all, like not on her socials or going to promo events etc. Thats what I heard though, idk if it's true.

Follows the rough storyline so far, obviously some details and some events have been skipped in the drama to save time and some scenes have been added. But the overall story and characters and general structure are the same. The novel is definitely worth a read but it's long, around 2400 chapters. The novel goes into more detail and provides more insight into the characters thoughts and backgrounds etc, which makes sense, can't fit all that into the drama. But overall, the general flow and structure is the same, however the pace of the drama is faster.

I get what you mean, but I think on the boat she is really emotional, just witnessed everybody dead, and him holding the murder weapon in front of her dead father. She was super emotional so she accuses him without even thinking. She just reacts before processing everything that happened. She only stabs him three years later when he returns. At that time, I think it makes sense to stab him, he's been on the run for 3 years, making him look very guilty. Plus, he said she only stabbed his shoulder, not to kill but to make sure she can arrest him and questions him. For me it makes sense, she never really insists he's the killer, just on the boat she's emotional and can't process what's happened, so accuses him without even thinking much (a fair reaction I believe as he's the only one alive holding the murder weapon). After they reunite, they work together quite quickly, showing she's not sure if he's really the killer, she has doubts. Anyway thats just my opinion, I can understand if people disagree.

From what I understand they didn't go through all of it before he left for the boat otherwise I feel like they would have brought up the fact they divorced or something like that, but a divorce was never mentioned so I'm assuming the wedding was never fully complete. Plus, the wedding was used as bait to catch the criminal, so I'm assuming they didn't fully go through all the stages. Thats just what I think though.

At least in the novel, it's explained as a way to get rid of the evidence. Leaves no evidence behind regarding who died and who killed them.

Luckily doesn't last long, they start working together in ep 4 again.

Personally, I hope this poisoning nonsense gets cleared up quickly. It's such a stupid mistake to happen. Otherwise, so far, I'm really liking it, enjoying the mystery and the cast so far.

He was shot with an arrow, and fell into water. He was stabbed with the sword later, like 3 years later. No prison strangling yet.

The stab happens super early, this scene is in episode 3.

Yeh it will, ML and FL were about to get married before he was accused of killing her father and he ran. Nows he's back, there will likely be romance between them again.

Yeh I think its definitely more xianxia then wuxia but does well to blend the two a little bit, not being a full out xianxia, with some wuxia elements. But should be classified as more of a xianxia than wuxia in my opinion.

Personally, I think it will only be one season with an open ending. I would love for multiple seasons, but multiple season cdramas are pretty rare, especially with a big budget and cast like this one. But it has happened before with the best example being joy of life, so there's hope, fingers crossed.

These next two weeks are about to be insane, a classic Youku vs Tencent vs iqiyi battle with Immortal Ascension, Legend of the female general on Aug 6th and Wanted detective on Aug 1. I really hope Immortal ascension holds up, so far I'm really liking it and after today things are heating up even more. With today's battle, and even bigger battles ahead, I hope they keep the same type of camera angles, choreo and color schemes as they did today, because it really made for a dynamic and immersive but watchable and clear fight scene. Will be interesting to see how these three big names compete against each other during this time. We are truly spoilt for choice now as cdrama watchers.

One thing I really like about the fight scene in ep 11 are the camera angles and while it may sound dumb, the different colors. Fight scenes with people flying round and a big monster can often be hard to follow and confusing, hard to know what's happening and who's doing what. But the camera angles used were really dynamic, allowing us to follow the action, while also feeling right in the middle of it. Also the different colors helps us easily determine who's attack is who's. Made it easy to follow and more enjoyable. Really well done honestly.

Thanks you too for sharing. Honestly, I think people went in expecting this crazy romance. I viewed the early part as a coming of age friendship drama and then later part a romance, and for me it made sense. Honestly, I think his HK arc was explained quite well especially after his uncle woke up, like we understood his struggles more then. For Linghe, for me it's more about the quality of the scenes than the quantity. He produces quality scenes even if people expected more, and thats what matters, he was quality in the scenes he was in. I really enjoyed the romance in the last 4-5 episodes, yeh it would have been nice to get a better ending for the old friends and maybe some of the other parents, but overall it was satisfying watching the ML and FL be happy.

Yeh nothing against the actress who plays Ye Yan, but I think Miaoyi would have had such a great dynamic with Jin Mai, still I enjoyed the drama. Ngl I see a lot of people saying Linghe had a lot of scenes cut. Besides episodes like 17 and 18 the college parts, didn't really feel like he was missing. Felt like he had the scenes he was meant to have and he made the most of the scenes he was in.

Just a random thought, and don't get me wrong the actor who played Qin Ye Yun was really good, nothing against her. But maybe it's cause I love fly towards you and recently watched first frost, but I think Zhang Miaoyi would have been so good as the second female lead. Her and Jin Mai would have been so cute together I reckon, I can picture her as Ye Yun and her friendship with Ying tao so much. Again, nothing against the actor who played Ye Yun, she did a great job, but I just think Jin Mai and Zhang Miaoyi would have been a really good pair. Just a random thought I had while watching. Overall ngl I'm enjoying it. I can understand why some people might not like it, but viewing it as a friendship/growing up drama for the first 19 episodes, then romance after, I'm enjoying it.
