Unfortunately I think it will go that way, with ML and FL deciding to live freely in seclusion. I agree, both second prince and princess way too inept to take the throne. At worst, if ML decides not to take the throne he should stick around as an imperial advisor or guide kind of like in Coroner's diary (where I also think ML should have take. the throne). Spoilers I have seen seem to point to him not, but I hope he does. Would be nice if it followed the novel for this point.

Yeh not a flop as it’s not s+ drama. its doing ok probably around average in terms of viewership and heat so far but deserves better for the quality of the story and acting

FL is so badass it's insane. The walk at the end of ep 23 has so much aura. We've had a lot of great general/badass FL's this year, but she's number 1 easily for me. Right up there with FL in A journey to love. So good, have to love how the screenwriter didn't water down her character and make her dependent on ML, or vice versa.

Oh thats a nice theory, combining and ruling both, makes a lot of sense. Interesting theory. And I agree, like ML has suffered repeated assassination attempts from people close to him, been betrayed a bunch put still knows right from wrong and doesn't take it out on the innocent.

Spoilers I saw, XJS treats princess pretty badly. They end up divorcing. In the mean time princess and emperor form a connection as they are both having a difficult time. After divorce, princess finds out ML and her father died, so she promises to give herself to the emperor (thats the wording the spoilers used) if he can investigate who killed them. Eventually XJS rebels, kills the emperor and stabs princess. Apparently princess is pregnant at the time and this causes a miscarriage for her.

Yeh 100%, made XJS much more of a villain. And Yeh I agree, XJS should survive, cause otherwise also who becomes emperor of his country. They don't have any children, if current emperor dies when XJS rebels like I think he will, no one else for the throne but him.

Actually, I didn't clarify thats my bad, princess survives and becomes a nun apparently. She gets stabbed by XJS but doesn't die. I'm guessing ML goes to save her. But yeh the final showdown likely between ML and XJS. But yeh, dunno or sure but if true, they really changed XJS character a lot.
