Have to say everyone's acting was superb in these episodes today (and overall). The Murong dad showing his pain, ruthlessness and desperations. Murong Yao showing his hurt and devastation with a tinge of regret, Empress excellently showing her hatred and craziness, but also with some sadness and pain.

And of course, CZY in that betrayal scene. Showing hurt, astonishment, pain, so heartbreaking so well done, yet another betrayal he suffers. And Li Qin when she digs for ML showing immense desperation and panic. You really felt it.

Beautifully acted all round.

F*ck me I can't with the ending of ep 27 and start of 28. I knew it was coming but so god damn brutal. Insane, but ladies and gentlemen for future reference in historical cdramas that is how you execute a beautifully brutal and emotional coup.

No need for a massive blood bath in the palace, with hundreds of troops, just a few well executed, meaningful but ruthless kills. So emotional though. My blood is boiling and I cannot wait for the revenge to come.

100%, definitely giving more AJTL vibes, just the bow and arrow remind of Shadow love a bit thats all, but I think definitely more similar to AJTL, which I love.

All this talk about the throne, I want to talk about the fight scene in ep 26. So well choreo'd and filmed. The mirroring to XJS's original plan of hiding enemy soliders within civilians was very smart.

The fighting was done beautifully. The standout to me was both ML and FL when they went to PM's house and had each of their own solo fight scenes. ML slicing through enemies 1 v 10 with insane sword play, and FL with the dagger slicing throats like butter. So beautifully choreographed, filmed and executed by the ML and FL. FL gave real A journey to Love FL vibes and I loved it. Her using the dagger was so badass.

I love shadow love, don't get me wrong, but the FL here is like an upgraded version of the FL in Shadow love 😂(not commenting on the actresses themselves but the characters I mean).

I hope so, hoping after his fathers death, and MYR stabbing him, he'll realize the throne isn't safe without him,

100%, what I care about most in any drama is ML and FL together in the end happy! And yeh I agree, I always saw it as ML was wanting to clear his mother's name from being a spy, find the truth and take revenge on her killer.

I get what you mean for sure, there are really no other good people for the throne, I think thats what makes people frustrated. If there was someone else that was even just a little worst then ML but still good, we wouldn't care. But they made everyone else pretty poor and ML look so good, he looks like the only person capable for the throne.

You're already saying they ruined him before the decision has been made. Just wait till the end, who knows he might become the emperor we don't know yet. Calling him a simp, saying they ruined such a great character before we even know what he chooses. Maybe after his father is murdered, he decides he should take the throne. Who knows, relax and enjoy instead of thinking they ruined his character before its even happened.

100% I'm with you, happy ending with everyone is most important for me. Who takes the throne and all that comes second. Most important, they all survive and happy ending. A journey to love ending killed me.

I feel like some people see this as a fight for the throne drama. In my opinion, it's a revenge story, it has always been a revenge driven drama, the throne is just there as an excuse really and a tangible way for them to implement their revenge.

ML wants revenge on the people that killed his mother. Prime minster wants revenge on the emperor for his son. MYR wants revenge on ML and his family for how they treated his father. FL wants revenge on XJS. XJS wants revenge on the emperor of his country for how he was treated. The princess now also wants revenge on XJS. And from previews soon ML will want revenge on the empress and MYR after what happens in the next eps. Even the emperor, ML's father, kind of wants revenge against ML's mother by forcing ML on the throne, to prove he was right, and to win against her. Revenge for going against him. Honestly, only the empress has cared for the throne without revenge really, but now she also seeks revenge against the emperor.

The throne is just a tool for revenge. Thats just how I see it at least, dramas are subjective and this drama is really well written and open to interpretation, so I'm sure some people see it differently. But for me, this has always been a revenge driven drama, not a fight for the throne. The throne was just a way for them to manifest their revenge.

Obviously, I would prefer ML take the throne in the end, he is clearly the most suitable, so that's the ending I prefer, but also for me most important is ML and FL happy ending together. As a viewer, thats what I care about the most, but this just my preference, but others will have others preferences and thats great.

Well looking at previews for tomorrow, it's clear he will go after MYR and empress.

Revenge for his mother, he's said it a couple times, he wants revenge on the people that killed his mother, which is the PM. Like in today's ep, he said after he gets revenge for his mother he and FL will leave and live peacefully. But then from previews we see, he will then seek revenge on MYR and empress.

I agree, although I understand XJS, I really want him defeated by FL as well, same with Murong, he deserves a painful death, especially after the previews. And yeh princess needs a big dose of regret. I hope she does make it up to ML in some way.

Yeh exactly so true, I like how a lot of the supporting characters are complex and have a backstory to drive them. Their greed is because of something, not just because they're greedy.
