Yeh I agree, Jiang Yuwen got off pretty lightly. Haha I like that, both of them could have been good partners in another life.
If you haven't seen it I would recommend 'Reset' also with Bai Jing Ting, a very similar concept to this, another time loop mystery that is quite interesting and highly rated.
Thank you for the recommendations, haven't heard about beloved or the Chinese adaption of My Mister, though I did see the kdrama version. Interesting to hear they made a Chinese adaption, definitely check out it on when it released.
Yeh I feel bad for Cheng Yi and the others actors of TJOL, its unfortunate for a hyped up drama, but Cheng Yi has two other dramas pretty much ready for release, just waiting on the airing license I think (or they may have already got it), so hopefully those are a better quality.

Very true about MYZ, you could see he was conflicted and for a second I really thought he would just give himself up at the end. Honestly, when you talk about how people were never villains to begin with, I think JYW was more of a villain at the start, the way he experimented on terminally ill patients, it seems at the start whether for love or not, MYZ had more of a conscience, but after Wangqing died, thats when he started to get obsessed over saving her and turned unto a villain. Like you said, his love and obsession created him.
Definitely agree, needed the 5 loops, the loops before, even though he could have figured out MYZ was squid in like loop 3, he needed all the loops to make sure he had all the information and tool to save everyone in the final loop. And yeh the team were great, they trusted him and he trusted them completely.
I'll check out the guardians, I agree with TJOL, I thought it would be more polished and a higher level production to be honest. Besides the actors, seems a bit low budget which is unfortunate.

Yeh exactly, they left it open but sequels are so rare in cdrama world, especially with the same cast, so I'm happy with the ending, and if we get a sequel thats a bonus π

Hahaha I agree, same hard to express how good it was. When I was writing my review I literally said like I don't know what words will let you know how good it is π so many twists, glad we got a happy ending, what kiss to end it
I was having a bit of deja vu myself and just realized, the scene of JYW being killed over and over again, reminded me of Love game in eastern fantasy at the start where the FL dies over and over, eventually she doesn't even care π Also deja vu with the final ep 16 fight, handcuffed bad guy on the helipad, straight out of first responders the kdrama as well, but I'm not complaining great scene.
I think we should also talk about Jiang Yu Wen being a total jerk as well. He conducted experiments on sick people, knowing they are vulnerable and willing. He abandoned two daughters (granted he did provide money for one of them but only after he got his loop ability). He conducted experiments on himself then disappeared for 8 years, only coming back when he needed MYZ work to survive (while acting all sympathetic, like the reason he's dying isn't cause he conducted experiments on himself). Made use of his two friends who died. Planted a bomb to try and kill MYX that proceeded to kill a bunch of other innocent people (without knowing it was a loop day). Made use of Maggie, pretty much playing on her sympathy to steal for him. And then his final act was also a bomb to try and blow up MYZ and again potentially harm innocent people. Don't get eye wrong MYZ is a psycho killer, but JYW not that much better. One was obsessed with the woman he loved and would not let anything het in his way, the other was obsessed with his research. Two sides of the same coin
One thing I forgot to mention in my review which I'll add, is how nice the police squad was. When they combined two squads, thought there would be conflict. But nope, there was constant trust, no betrayal (thank god). And ML realized from the onset he would need help and delegated like a real leader does, and in return they trusted and helped him at every turn. Beautiful team work, such a nice police squad.
WHAT WAS THAT FINAL SCENE πππ The ending was wrapped up PERFECTLY without it!!! If there is no s2 (which…
Same here with the rooftop scene, plus when he woke up it was all hazy and like had a yellow-ish look I was worried for a second he was dreaming or in the afterlife or something π

Great view points, pretty much agree withe everything. I really like your profiling view points, offers a fresh perspective I don't really think about. Never thought about emotions, especially MYZ's emotions like how you talk about, but after you brought it up, makes sense. MYZ had major denial regarding Wangqing's health and death, and alongside his love for her, I guess that's when it started to all go wrong for him. He never really. processed his emotions in a healthy way, akes sense when you talk about it.
I agree, the ending gave us a very satisfactory ending, a very enjoyable watch this was. A surprise for me, wasn't expexctingit.
Also enjoyed discussion theories and stuff with you.
Well written review;). Honestly, I donβt want to see a season two as normally it is never as good as season…
Thankyou! And yeh that is true, second seasons normally not as good, especially when we have cast changes and all that. Yeh ikr, very minimal security π
