if you're in the US.. where are you able to buy merch like this?? š
I think one would have to be resourceful and be limited to ebay mostly or find ways to find online stores or friends and family from overseas to be honest. hahaha
It must be rare to have director's uncut collection of dramas since people also rarely collect DVDS now, but I hope Tencent realizes the global hit with this to release merchandise along with the series somehow for keepsake. I remember, and how it still is, the popularity of THE UNTAMED. I am hoping that LOVE LIKE THE GALAXY will have a treatment of that scale with merchandise/collectibles to include books, chibi dolls/figures, art concept, photo books, behind the scene work, etc. ME: TAKE MY MONEY!
ZLSās born to play CSS and WLās born to play LBY.I canāt imagine other actors playing these two characters.…
This is so true and how I based an actor's performance too. If you can see someone else in the role, it's kinda meh. But if you know they tailored the roles given to them, and there could never be another, that is it. ZLS and WL understood and flourished in their assignment.
i don't really understand the ring what does it mean and why he take it off when he is with her?
yea, those moments in general when he takes off the ring to feel her emotions is quite poignant and lovely with the perfect piece of music, especially in episode 13 towards the end.
I don't care what anybody says but Wu Lei and Zhao Lusi bts scenes gives me such a big ship. I know we are not…
Ahhhh, I understand this feeling too well. I think they're incredibly professional even in the BTS, and appear like they can be good friends. Which I am totally on board with, because the best relationships happen from deep friendships. Though I don't see it right now, because I bet they're focusing on their careers, I hope one day, it's possible that their relationship becomes reel to real!
i don't really understand the ring what does it mean and why he take it off when he is with her?
From the way the story is, the ring allows him to block off her emotions from him, since currently in the story, whatever she feels, he'll feel too. I think this signifies that when he kisses her with the ring on, it's of his own accord and choosing, and of his own emotions.
In ancient times, it was customary to throw embroidered balls (ę绣ē; pÄo xiù qiĆŗ) in some places which…
Thank you for taking the time to share this information. I appreciate it and always appreciate your insightful posts like the way you explained the meaning of the moongate and the title of the drama too. š
I have a question regarding a scene in the trailer in ep. 41 that I'll put into spoilers after this comment. In…
In the trailer for ep. 41 when Zisheng is set to go off to battle, is what he tosses Niaoniao his 'xiuqiu' as his token of love? Because d'awwwww (not that his love for her was ever in question).
I have a question regarding a scene in the trailer in ep. 41 that I'll put into spoilers after this comment.
In episode 6 when Shaosheng goes to the lantern festival and solves that riddle by Yuan Shen, is what he tosses her his "xiuqiu"? Which if I understand correctly is the embroidered ball meant to be a token of love.
Okay, I hope weāll still be friends after this, LMAO. But I struggled with Fei Lu in NIRVANA IN FIRE. I was…
I am telling you, Iām totally in the minority with Fei Liu. I think it was the way the character was written at the time when I watched it, nothing to do with Wu Leiās performance. I do remember that his backstory was that he did have a traumatic past before he was saved by Mei Changsu. Heās definitely endearing from the lens I can objectively, but character wise, I was annoyed at times. Maybe itās time to rewatch to see if my mind would change. LOL. Itās sooo weird thinking of how he is and then how he is here as Zisheng/LBY.
I think in TLB, Wu Lei was slowly transitioning to the male lead roles. Was it his first male lead role actually? Perhaps that could have been the reason why we didnāt connect too, with so much growing up to do in a way from this child actor to leading-male-material. Diliraba was a struggle for me as well to connect with her character, so I am on the same page as you and your sister about her portrayal of a girl who lost everything essentially. Zhao Lusi also stole the show for me in the small segments I gleaned of the drama.
It's nice to see an actor grow as well and given a script that is tailored for them. As is the case here for Wu Lei portraying LBY. I never saw TEN MILES OF PEACH BLOSSOM, but I remember how everyone adored Mark Zhaoās portrayal of Ye Hua. In the end, Jess, letās just say you do have a thing for some of the bad boys. LOLLL!
Just wanted to pop in and say hello and see you again for discussion throughout the week I am sure. :)

I don't believe the OST is out officially, and it's the same instrument piece I've been waiting for, for a long time too. Let's hope they'll release the scores soon.

Aww that's soo good to know now. At the time, I felt quite alone and also afraid that fans of TLB would come after me with pitchforks𤣠if I had said anything then.
I have to agree. I believe the subs on Viki to me have felt the best compared to the other platforms. They're "purist" in translation with attention to detail and structure with the English translation in a way that things don't get simplified down nor lost in translation while retaining their meaning.
I'm so happy for Wu Lei! Before this drama, I wasn't sure if I'd ever take to him as a leading male after being…
Okay, I hope weāll still be friends after this, LMAO. But I struggled with Fei Lu in NIRVANA IN FIRE. I was definitely of the minority who found his character annoying most of the time. (forgive me, friend LOL). Then in a blink of an eye, he played the lead in THE LONG BALLAD. I thought, āoh wow, he looks pretty good in the tribal outfit and hairā but I definitely couldnāt get into the drama. At the time, some of my friends were in love with TLB, so I tried to sit through some of it, and eventually fast forwarded itā¦but also eventually dropped it like a hot potato because like you, I couldnāt connect with the characters of the main couple there, at all. It was a lost cause. I wasnāt convinced of the OTP (one true pairing) there, and struggled to not see the two leads as siblings. In fact, it was through my fast forwarding that there was the iconic scene of WLās character holding ZLSās character at knifepoint. I remember thinking, (Iām a broken record at this point) ānooo, they totally messed up. The OTP should have been WL and ZLS. Theyāre such a perfect match in every way. I hope the drama gods will listen and grant us a drama with them as leads in a first-class historical drama of superior storytelling.ā Was that too much for me to ask? I thought so, because HA, the drama gods donāt really answer prayers. Then the news that there was LLTG in the making with WL and ZLS tapped to play the leads. I was soo absolutely gushing to my friends about it, and bless their hearts for indulging my fangirling. (Someone made this hilarious image, and I love it! https://gyazo.com/fa74d1cc5bdcb19d21f898c07e5be673)
This the drama that too changed my mind about WLās abilities. I am so glad you gave this drama a chance despite the trepidation. I love that your twin sister (how cool of a fact by the way) convinced you otherwise. LLTG for the most part, has captured the best of the best for me too, from the nuanced layered characters, endearing love story, and the phenomenal story telling when it comes to slice of life and complicated family dynamics.
Which brings me to why I absolutely understand your frustration of how they drama keeps elevating the ML seemingly at the expense of the FL, when itās really her story more so. I wish they did a better job balancing this between our leads, because I want our heroine to continue to be the intelligent, witty, and resourceful girl we know her to be, and to grow into this formidable woman who is just as powerful in her own right.
I also want to add that I think it takes some sort of charisma and calibre to be able to command on-screen presence with the limited scenes that WL is given as LBY. His entrances to many of the scenes were stellar and left such an impact, that as an audience, I felt we were holding our breaths to see when he would show up again. Thatās spectacular storytelling and directing to have such command when he comes onto the scene despite having little screen-time initially.
And on a hilarious fangirling note, I hope LBY lives up to be amongst your group of elite male leads in a drama. As always, I look forward to your posts in future episodes/discussions and dramas too!
Ohh, I love this discussion and remember writing something for this in the discussion thread of the first part…
I believe LBY misunderstood her too, but itās hard not to see why huh, given that if you break it down into black and white, it is that. Regardless of the intentions. Once CSS has more time to think things through, I believe itās why she later comes to his defense, especially in that scene where she and HZJ talk, with HZJ telling her sheās grateful that CSS gave her LY back and is stuck marrying the general.
Okay, friend! Youāre going to have to try to change my mind about YS! Maybe heāll grow later on, but heās suchhhhhh a butt! Thereās some decency in him when he stands up against those who talk badly about CSS, but all the other times, heās such a butt. Yes, he offered her a ride in his carriage when it was cold the first time CSS ran away from home. But he also left her in the middle of the street when he kicked her out. And his little comments and remarks are things a bully would say. It frustrates me. There is no doubt that once he grows and gets past his fears and arrogance, heāll be a great prospect and ally, and a force to be reckoned with. However, Iām afraid by then, itās already too late. The drama definitely has crafted LBY as male lead more so than in the novel I believe. Was Yuan Shenās character different in the novel than from in the drama based on where we are at in the show? (Anyways, I am dying on this LBY and CSS ship. LMAO.) Yes, to LBY loving deeply. I think itās why after all is said and done, there could be no room in Shaoshengās heart for anyone else other than Zisheng. The timing for YS is also off, like it could have possibly been for Zisheng had he not taken that moment to go all-in once the engagement between LY and CSS was dissolved.
Take your time responding. I look forward always to your thoughts.

It truly was a slow burn from SS. I am always a sucker for friends to lovers, and in some ways, I felt this is the case for CSS and LBY too. But poor boy, he's been wearing his heart on his sleeve probably since the end of the lantern festival. I am so glad they changed the story of how LBY didn't fall for her at first sight though. It was through her wits and intelligence, with a sense of justice first.
This dynamic duo is amazing!!! I love how they play off each other along with LBY too. The director and crew along…
There is never shame in loving what we love! I hope the same too, that his subordinates and Shaosheng's family remain safe and healthy in the story too. We are allowed to love our fictional characters just as much because we're so invested in them.

Have you ever watched āNirvana in Fireā by the way? It makes me believe that Mei Changsu (the protagonist of that drama) has his protĆ©gĆ© in LBY (the actor was Fei Lu in Nirvana in Fire). In that drama Mei Changsu was also out to right the wrongs of others. In that drama, they did a great job justifying that it wasnāt quite revenge, but more so, justice given to those who had been wrong. I think in LLGT though, theyāre going with revenge more based on all the trailers.
