Omgee! This drama turned toxic super quick. I cannot for the life of me know how to go about rating this drama…
For starters, I did like how ML and FL stayed true to their character from beginning to the end.
In the beginning, there was always something eerie about the ML. Like you know, "There's More Than Meets The Eye", kind of saying. And, as much as I liked the ML I could not root for him to get the FL after knowing what he did and what he did afterwards. Like what FL had stated, their relationship could never be the same anymore - it was wrong in the first place, built on lies, and deadly toxic. ML caused so much misery to FL expecting that she'll forgive him, but how can she forget and forgive when he keeps taking off the scab on her wounds and inflicting more? It's like he loved her, but then he didn't truly love her as he never consider her wishes and kept on wanting to be in control. He even caged her against her biggest wish, which was to be free.
I do think that if FL had met ML when they were younger than maybe their relationship wouldn't have turned out so toxic. The grownup ML that FL had met was already too broken by the struggles, deaths, and politics of the palace. Plus, it doesn't help that his mother was also an emotionally unstable person. His actions mirror that of his mother but he does what she couldn't do thinking that it'll help salvage his own relationship. Sighs...
Yan Zi Xian is definitely a very, very good actor with a diverse emotional range. Not much to say because he always seems to nail his role. He's one of the few that also deserves long and lengthy roles. Also, I never noticed that he cried so beautiful until now.
Honestly, I wasn't a big fan of He Xuan Lin before. Saw her a bit in Starry Love but wasn't that much impressed, but in here she is killing it! She has to showcase that she fell in love with the male lead, to hating him (in which she can literally shoot daggers with her stares, you literally have to be in role to show that you really hate a person), to fearing him, and back again to acting like she loves the ML all within a couple of episodes is impressive. I'm a big fan now. Love the way how they did her hair, makeup, and wardrobe. Also, she reminded me a bit of the actress Jing Tian.
I'd agree with others that this is in the same category as Goodbye My Princess and might I also add The King's Woman.
Haven’t watched the newer episodes but If she becomes his concubine I’m dropping the show so serious
That's what I think is going to happen, just from watching the ending OST MV. FL will be heartbroken for whatever reason (maybe because ML is marrying the other woman) and will jump off a cliff to escape. ML will be heartbroken, thinking she’s dead. Later, they meet again (which is why you see them in different clothes compared to Beixuan), and he’ll try to salvage their relationship. Just a thought, lol.
I have seen him in other drama and his eyebrows are always like that, same as his make up. It seems that it's…
LOL, no the eyebrow makeup is bad! I love him as an actor, but the makeup artist did him dirty. This is the first time I'm distracted by his brows. It was too thin and high arch. If you compare it to his Begonia drama, the Begonia is many times better.
Given who the FL is I very much doubt that this will be a short-length drama, she usually does full length stuff.…
I've seen her play a second lead before and no she doesn't leave an impression. She does visually look older so I'm surprised she keeps getting paired up with these young man.
First of all, I'm super surprised that this FL got kissed by all the 3 male leads and they weren't ugly actors…
It wasn't that type of torture. First kiss happened when he was in the moment and kissed her. Second kiss happened when he got angry and jealous. Other than that, most of the kisses were consensual. Might have some rough kisses, but FL kissed back.
Guys guys guys! Are you like 70% sure this will come in Q1? Even 50% chance would do. Just give me some hope.
There's some big rumored IP male dramas dropping so I don't think this will air in Q1. I think they might want to release this drama during the summer, but who knows?...
They are clearly alive, cause the boy speaks in present tense, inviting the princess at his home where his parents…
The ending was filmed ambiguously. There could be many interpretations, however, the actress herself was told by the director to act like she was still alive. Honestly, in my opinion, I thought the actress was dead.
