I believe the drama is going to be slightly different from the novel although I hope they will keep the novel's ending and FL's confession to the ML.
My sypnosis of the novel: Due to the death of FL's older sister, her father's ambitious idea, and her brother in law's edict, FL marries her brother in law the King and takes over her sister's position as Queen to protect her nephew. By making this choice, FL harshly and cruelly abandons ML. With a sick husband and a young child comes with a weak throne so there are rebels eyeing the throne. FL can only enlist the help of ML who is now King Nanchuan, and by letting him name any reward he wants she hopes that in return he can provide protection and save them from the rebels.

OMGad, I had to drop this and rant! I could not stand any characters at all in this drama! FL kept taking 2 steps back when her enemies and the annoying AF mother in law kept belittling her...like come on girl get your act together. ML could not stand up to his mom at all even though he is supposedly the man of the house but in truth a huge grown ass man who still takes order from mommy. The mom of the ML made my blood boil because she stirs up my negative emotions the most; You old lady! You supposed to be wise, patient, and smart and not another annoying old fart. And, I hate how much screen time the evil chick gets because I don't want to see from her POV on how obsess she is with the ML. Sorry for ranting, but sheesh this writer needs to write better characters who I can empathize with and support!

😂 Yes, Yuan Lu has a heart disease so I expected it. NYZ's internal force is weak but remember he's also strong because of his brain, schemes, and strategies so he could have survived. Sighs, they should have went with Ruyi's plan in the first place, maybe she'll be hurt but not dead.

I already knew that the Beipan part of the story would be revealed too, but did not think that it was that strong of an arc to cover the later half of the story since we already have two main power house of An and Wu that didn't get to be elaborated more. They could have easily wrapped up the Beipan arc and go back to the power struggle of An and Wu.
Also, I understood the deaths of all the characters, but that doesn't mean that I as a viewer have to agree with it and not see why it felt forced.

I don't mind LOL. The Beipan and all the deaths afterwards felt forced too. I don't mind having some of them die, but to have all of them die was too much.
