There wasn’t really a love triangle? Yes, the younger brother tried to date her, BUT is was made extremely clear…
That part was funny and heartworming? It actually made the 2nd brother seem like a weirdo and loser at the same time. It was not moving at all, it was very very creepy. That was the worst part of the original by far.
I have high hopes for two couples instead of a love triangle
I watched the chinese version. The 2nd brother tried to date her and it was very out of place and weird, even if he actually admitted that later on. It should have never happened. That's why I don't want it here.
What bothered me about it most is she chose to die. What kind of message does that send to everyone that loses…
That's why I think that people who consider the ending to be a HE, and think that the main leads survived and escaped, have a point too. Because an ending like this, RY's suicide, just doesn't make sense... her surviving doesn't make sense too, so choosing your own canon ending is ok for me ig...
Is this drama good and worth the watch? Honest answers only please.
It's a standard, okayish kdrama. Nothing groundbreaking, but it's cute. Very similar vibe to business proposal, if you watched it. But if you want something new and fresh, you won't find it here unfortunately.
In the recent drama landscape, there's nothing like this. A mature romance that gets a lot of screentime and development, rather than the leads getting together in the second to last episode because the screenwriter doesn't know how to write relationship post getting together (other than creating drama through forced breakup).
I love all the little moments that are unique to this drama. That's when the drama shines the brightest. Like RRY picking clothes and jewelry for NYZ. The squad watching every romantic scene between our leads and giving advice to both of them (which makes perfect sense, they are forced to spend 99% of their time on a very limited space!). RRY not hiding her identity at all from NYZ (even though if could serve as 'you lied to me, I can't be with you' later on, classic trope in most dramas). RRY coming back right away after she was attacked by the squad. RRY being a badass lead, but embracing her feelings and femininity at the same time - it's not like she was written like a male character, which tends to be the case when writing strong females. Flirting, so much flirting! There was no unnecesary, forced drama between the characters for the majority of the drama.
I definitely don't want to say that it doesn't have any flaws. I wish it wasn't crammed up, it needed those 10 eps more. I am very very salty about it. But when I think about refreshing dramas, that take well-established tropes and reverse them, this one comes to mind. This year was mediocre for dramas, and this is definitela a stand-out.
One thing tha keeps bugging me. How they address each other through those nicknames. "Mourning clothes", "trickster", like it might have been funny a few times, but rn it's really weird. Dunno, maybe it would be less weird if I were Korean?
Seo Ji Hye (My Perfect Stranger, Love All Play) Joins the cast. Her character will like Hae Joonhttps://n.news.naver.com/entertain/now/article/311/0001673285
I have high hopes for two couples instead of a love triangle
There's a big room for improvement compared to the original! It had a nice chemistry (expecially between on the fathers-children front) but can definitely be improved: no love triangle, if they want a romance, make it more engaging (and less creepy), and so on. I have high hopes.
I had a feeling that they would consider such an ending (NYZ dead, RRY alive and pregnant), classic cdrama ending.…
Yeah, that's why I'm trying to convince myself that they both survived in the end. Cause it doesn't make sense for her to commit suicide, but on the other hand RRY living and everyone else dying would be just too cruel. She was alone her whole life anyway. Just when she found companions and love of her life they would leave her alone again? I refuse to believe that.
According to the deleted scenes, it would appear that the original intention during filming was for NYZ to die…
I had a feeling that they would consider such an ending (NYZ dead, RRY alive and pregnant), classic cdrama ending. As much as her suicide doesn't fit her, it's still a better ending than being alone in the end. For me at least
