I do agree with the oversimplification of the recovery process, as it mainly focuses on medication rather than…
True. The fact that this kind of care is mostly inaccessible in my country (and I suppose many others) is my main problem with the drama (if I can even call it a problem with the drama, it's a problem with the healthcare in my country to be frank).
Here, even if you get into psychiatric hospital (and that's really hard, the lines are long), the care you receive is definitely not as great as in the show, cause it's funded by the country and the hospitals are way understaffed. So, in theory a sick person has a chance to get help for 'free', but in reality it's just waiting in line and getting so frustrated that a lot of people just end up paying from their own pocked for private care anyway.
The thing I find most mindboggling about hype is the constant pursue of a better rating (in this example, here on MDL). I constantly see the same thing, no matter if it is a cdrama or kdrama, when the drama is rated like 9.0 and people are commenting that wth, it should be higher! Let's upvote it to 9.1! And then 9.2!
Like I get that when you finally stumble upon a truly great drama, you want it to score higher than all the other, overrated (in your opinion) dramas. But I can't get my mind around the fact that any person would spend their precious time not even on promoting it so that everyone watches the show you love (which I get) but on simply promoting it to raise its score. Personally, if it's above 8 (which in MDL is like a badge of 'most watchers approved' imo) I couldn't care less about rating of a show I love.

I do agree to some extent, the elements of recovery process were a bot scattered through cases. Firstly there are meds, then psychiatrist counseling comes later, and then some elements of good daily routine and support of others. I feel that maybe they didn't want to make every case have the same exact elements, as it could have been too repetetive, so they scattered it around. I'm a bit lenient cause tv show will always contain some oversimplifications
After reading most popular reviews, I'm seeing that a lot of people claim that the topic of recovery has been oversimplified in the show. I reaally don't think so though? The 2ML and the FL are still sick when the show ends, still seeing doctors and taking meds. The patient with boss issues still isn't getting any better. The girl who wants to be a pilot still has a habit of hurting herself, even if under control more or less. Not to mention the suicide victim. There actually have been very little stories of full recovery on the show - perhaps the woman opressed by her mother or the mother with pseudodementia. It's told time and time again that it can get worse any day if they don't take care of themselves. It's just that they learn to find that daily dose of sunshine that keeps them afloat, but they still struggle every day. Of course, their recovery has been simplified for TV show purposes. No getting around that, people would have been bored to death watching one case for 12 episodes, with every single therapy session etc recorded.
I'm usually not a fan of a case-per-episode type of shows. Move to heaven for example didn't move me at all. In a lot of dramas the cases just seem jammed in, with the intention to make me emotional, and I hate when it's not genuine that way. But here most of cases feel pretty organic, and have just the right amount of time spent on them. It may feel a little jammed in but honestly isn't that life? Everyone deals with different things. Overall incredible show. I will be going back to it whenever I feel worse in the future. This show has the power to give people courage to fight for themselves, and it definitely gave me some. Kudos to creators.
seems like i'm among the few people who didn't get 2nd lead syndrome. guy had several chances but blew it so i…
I agree, I guess I just prefer the chemistry with 2ml, the bickering and cursing and all that. They just seemed very close. Whereas with 1ML the FL just seemed not that comfortable yet.
This is an incredible show. Woah. I don't remember watching something as relevant to today's societal issues as this since It's okay that's love (but that one is pretty old, not perhaps outdated but with slightly different focus in its cases). As a working person, who worries constantly about everything, and is slightly rough round the edges (like nurse Park), this show has me constantly on the verge of tears. Everyone should watch it.
Probably don't need to say this, but only watch it if you're prepared for the leads to have like 5% of happy time together and 95% of angsty time apart. Like I can be in for the angst but not in such a high disproportion... But it's just me, you can have different opinion and expectations from the show. Shame cause I could really feel the chemistry between the leads.
Another thing which irked me, especially in the beginning, is the overusage of the same jokes/situations. Like Moon Immortal has barely anything to do other than going around wanting to tie red strings to everyone. Yan You is a womanizer with the same one joke for the first 25ish eps. And the whole Flower realm crew is really one note as well. Their scenes are very skippable.
9.1-star ratings led me to this drama. But a few too many, not-so-smart moves of the leads don't really justify…
True. Very underwhalming, and for anyone who watched more than 1 movie with similar plot, (time loop) not very groundbreaking. Honestly other than a good production value for a cdrama, I see no reason for this high of a rating. Not very much suspense, and not really going into individual stories of passengers either. Mid
I feel like the MLs' characters were wery one-note. Sure they went through a lot, but in the end, they didn't feel like real human beings when they were so shy and polite all the time. It's hard to explain, but I agree with what some people say - it isn't easy to believe in their love when the show lacks emotions.
