I knew few people who finished medical school or already have medical practice licenses, but dropped the medical field once and forever. There are many reasons for that, mostly because they pursue medical school only to fulfil their family's wishes, not by passion. I'm confused with the FL though. She seemed to be an idealist doctor (because it seemed she disagreed with the way her hospital works - money-oriented). That's why she quit her job and then applied as a medical volunteer in a rescue field. I assume she is already a rich lady - money is no problem.
