Yes, please give this drama a chance! It's my favorite drama of 2021 (so far) and I am still trying to move past…
So wonderful to read your comment!! 😀I have been camping out in the You Are My Glory comment section the past month. I have read the novel and both Yang Yang and Reba embody the characters of Yu Tu and Jing Jing! The adaptation has been such a treat and their onscreen chemistry is undeniable. ♥️ YAMG is my first drama with Yang Yang and am really enjoying his portrayal. I hope we can chat some more at the YAMG comment section too!

Ok, got it now! I didn't realize Gu Man wrote a revised chapter 37 for the novel which the drama followed. I just read it and personally, I prefer the KTV scenes in the original chapter. I felt Yu Tu's kiss was more unexpected and unplanned and I interpreted his actions leading up to the kiss as a moment of spontaneity as he is caught up in the moment when he sees her at the gathering. In contrast, the revised version, he seems too deliberate when he kisses her was as though it is done for her benefit in front of their classmates IMO.
In contrast, I like the changes made to middle school scenes in the revised version. I love reading Jing Jing's thoughts in trying to be his equal and realizing that hard work wasn't enough. They are reflected well in the drama. The Yu Tu's hug from behind is one of my absolute favorite scenes in the drama and the kiss after is just magical. The cinematography is amazing and Reba and Yang Yang look so beautiful together. The smiles and the way they look at each other - just wow! I will be sad when this drama ends.

Thank you! I didn't realize there is a revised chapter 37 and was confused when watching the KTV scene in the drama when comparing to the novel. Everything has been clarified now!
i am reading a chinese discussion about why YuTu kissed QJJ in the KTV. Quite a pro and cons about this.https://www.douban.com/group/topic/242021697/My…
After watching this scene again, I realize it’s different in the drama compared to the translated novel. In the novel, Yu Tu did not suggest “let’s go” before and after the kiss. He says it once and it happens after he kisses her. To me (in the novel), Yu Tu’s kiss at the KTV is the reflection of his being caught up in the moment. Since he dropped her off the night before, he has been anxiously waiting for Jing Jing to respond. He has sent many texts and even took a walk with his cousin hoping to bump into her in their home town (in the drama). When he receives the call from his classmate, he rushes out the door, hoping to see her and fearing she might have left before he gets there. When he arrives, he greets his classmates quickly and makes a beeline to QJJ. As he approaches her, he is overcome with emotions and understands what Jing Jing has described when one is in love. One does not overthink and might act reckless in the moment. So when he confirms she is indeed there for him, he just lands a kiss on her. Seeing that she is embarrassed and that they are the center of attention, he then suggests that they leave. IMO, I thought the novel illustrates this point that FINALLY, Yu Tu has experienced all those emotions and acts rashly and with abandon in showing his love for his girl. He even admits afterwards that he has never behaved as impulsively or out of character! I find this scene in the novel more compelling than what was shown on screen in which his actions seem more deliberate when he kisses her in the drama. For those who read the novel, do you see this scene and his actions the way I do? Or is it just me romanticizing the moment in my head?
Regardless of what Yu Tu’s reasons for the kiss, Gu Man wanted to include the kiss for the awe (or awww) factor and the viewers/readers need it too!! I still love that he kisses her and enjoy seeing Yu Tu being uninhibited and expressing adoration for his girl! The kiss and the moment is the climax we’re all clamoring for and I’m glad the drama and novel delivered it!
It’ll be long weekend to wait for the next episodes to be released on Monday. While I love all the kisses and…
• When he is still coaching her in the game, Teacher Yu is strict and insists that Jing Jing keeps on practicing. Jing Jing grumbles over his stringent coaching and mumbles, “I pity your children” (something along those lines). I laughed since his child(ren) will also be hers!
• I love all the scenes when they return to their middle school and reminisce. I especially enjoy the part where after she sadly talks about how she thought as long as she put in the hard work, she could achieve her goal (attending the same university as Yu Tu) but it did not happen. He then hugs her from behind and says he should have tutored her. She then asks, “What if I’m too stupid to grasp the concepts?” He responds, “You would have understood them well because I was really smart”. So cute!
• When Yu Tu is sweeping the snow at his parents’ place, Jing Jing approaches him and playfully asks him for directions as a stranger. He smiles, turns around and embraces her tightly. Then his mother comes out and sees them hugging; Jing Jing basically throws Yu Tu under the bus to gain his mother’s favor. The expressions on Yu Tu’s face are priceless and Jing Jing just stares up at him all innocent with a hint of mischief while being proud of herself for improvising at the moment.
• Shortly after Yu Tu has turned the tables on Jing Jing by outing his status as her boyfriend, the drive home is too funny. Jing Jing complains to Yu Tu that her mom is lecturing her that she is being irresponsible in her approach to relationships and Yu Tu calmly states, “What a coincidence! My mom said the same thing about me!” Jing Jing then angrily says, “My mom thinks I’m inconsiderate of other people’s feelings." He repeats the same statement as above. I laughed so hard watching that scene.
• During the boat ride, Jing Jing does not trust Yu Tu’s ability to steer the boat and mentions her hesitation. I love his response, “It’s too late now. You already stepped into my boat”. Definitely double meaning to his words!
• The video call where Yu Tu drops boatload of comments that marriage is on his mind. He mentions that the money used to bribe their high school classmates not to expose their relationship will be deducted from the betrothal gift; he writes the letter about trip to Mars through the perspective of their future offspring (meshing their surnames together) and of course, his famous line “will you allow my genes to influence your genes”. Jing Jing’s reaction is too cute. She is drown in sweetness from his words! 😊
I’m sure there are tons more before the drama ends. Do you have any favorites? Please share!
It’ll be long weekend to wait for the next episodes to be released on Monday. While I love all the kisses and physical affection the couple has for one another, I also want to call attention to the witty and sweet dialogues between Yu Tu and Jing Jing. There are so many gems and all of them are wonderful and make me love this couple so much! My favorites (up till episode 24) and I’m paraphrasing the events:
For Reba, she will be very happy. YAMG will likely rank just ahead of TLB. End of the year, both her dramas this…
2021 has been a wonderful year for Reba and hoping for many great things to come her way! I have enjoyed both her dramas, TLB and YAMG and she portrayed two characters that are completely different but very memorable to me. I saw improvements in her acting too and am just happy to see her attracting new fans and garnering praises for her hard work! She really deserves it!
As for Yang Yang, this is the first drama I've seen of him but I truly enjoy his performance as Yu Tu. He made me love the character even more. I like his character in the novel but my favorite of the two is QJJ. She is still my favorite but I came to appreciate the character of Yu Tu so much more after witnessing Yang Yang's performance.
thanks for the update, great news. Yup, hope it goes up a lot more soon
I think the same! Regardless of the viewership numbers, I consider the drama a success because it followed the novel so closely and the leads gave heart-felt performances. I really cannot see any other artists portraying the characters of QJJ and Yu Tu other than Reba and Yang Yang. I am glad the drama told the story that the author intended to share with the audience! So bravo to the entire production staff of YAMG.
Same sentiments here. Too bad we don't know how to reach Gu Man. Probably peanuts & hoju knows how as they obtained…
Hi! Yes, I have read many of Mo Bao Fei Bao's novels, including "Really Really Miss You". The author is another one of my favorites and really enjoyed this one, along with "Stewed Squid with Honey", "Beautiful Bones" and "My Darling". I love this site because it introduced me to so many good stories and the translators do research many details and asked the authors for input and permission to translate. I always love the intros of how she carefully thought of the appropriate novel title and a synopsis of the story. Very top-notched. Not many translators have such dedication.
I didn't realize Beautiful Bones was made into a drama. What is the drama name?
Compared the two ex's I dislike more the ex of JJ than Yutu's ex, I feel like he is more egocentric and narcissistic.
Is it awful of me to wish that Yu Tu’s ex was there at the KTV gathering to witness Yu Tu’s declaration of love to Jing Jing? I’m kidding, well kind of.
I too find Yu Tu’s ex less hateful than Jing Jing’s. I actually do not fault her reasons for the breakup because she has the right to pursue the financial stability she desires in a relationship. I can understand her reasons and I can respect her decision considering Yu Tu wasn’t heart broken over it. She gambled that she could change Yu Tu’s mind and she lost. I only became annoyed with her when she started throwing dirt on Jing Jing, insinuating her success was due to her “connections” and not hard work because Jing Jing did not attend an acclaimed university like she and Yu Tu did. In the novel, she was jealous of Jing Jing’s looks, could not believe another girl was more attractive than her. At times, I think she saw Yu Tu as a prize, this handsome man who was desired by the ladies and who was also brilliant chose her (in college) and that she was able to one-up Jing Jing because Jing Jing’s confession was rejected. While I do not like her character, I can at least understand her motivations and thinking.
The ex-boyfriend, on the other hand, is just an egomaniac. I hated how he talked down to Jing Jing as though she wasn’t able to see through his motives at the party and acted as though he’s a gift to all woman .🤮 When he suggested getting back together, he fully expected her to jump at the chance to be reunited with him. So satisfying to see that she shot him down and left him speechless in repeating what was said to her from Yu Tu but this time, it was aptly described, “You and I are from different worlds”. Good riddance!
Wow, I feel like I’ve been doused in honey with all the lovely scenes we’ve been getting since Yu Tu and Jing Jing became official! 😊 While I enjoy the kisses and passionate parts of the drama, I am more touched by the little gestures and the dialogues between the two. I only finished episode 24 so there’s much more to come but their interactions so far feel very natural, like what we would see in actual real life couples. The touches, the banter, the longing to see each other and the excitement of just being in each other’s presence - I love every single scene of them together and of them apart but thinking of each other. Considering the remaining episodes heavily focus on their daily lives and the advancement of their relationship, Gu Man has done an amazing job in not making these scenes boring! The witty conversations and teasing between the two exude so much affection and humor without being cheesy or overly excessive. It really does have a nice balance of the Yu Tu and Jing Jing emotionally connecting and the passionate aspect of a developing romance. 😊
I think you are correct. The hot scene of the latest few episodes helped to push it up. It should get to 8.7,…
In one of the YAMG trailers, there is a scene of Jing Jing in a wedding gown and Yu Tu in a tux so there will be scenes of their wedding (and it's also written in the novel).
I watched in an interview of Dilraba and Yang Yang that they both felt that a scene that really made an impact…
The KTV scene is one of my favorites in the novel and was delighted to see the drama gave that momentous occasion justice. It is out of character for Yu Tu to show PDA in front of his high school classmates but I like that he was being proactive in declaring his love for Jing Jing. He was respectful when asking if she came there for him (which he pretty much knew) before making his move. It was shocking and dramatic and I LOVE it! I guess I just like see a level headed guy like Yu Tu abandoned all his reservations because he's head over heels in love and not afraid to show it!
Even better than the hot, sexy af kisses are the other subtle little things that make this OTP/CP look and feel…
I have not seen the hot and heavy scenes yet (only finished episode 22, waiting on English subs). I really enjoyed the physical affection thus far in the two episodes they got together! There are so many squeal out loud moments, from Yu Tu's lingering gazes when he looks at Jing Jing, the bright smile on Jing Jing's face and her teasing remarks towards Yu Tu, the hand holding, the hugs, forehead kiss (boat scene) and the tender first kiss. Those moments seem so natural to both of them and I can't help wondering if Yu Tu acted similarly towards his ex. He gave me the feeling that he might be physically reserved towards his ex, definitely not as expressive because his feelings for her weren't deep. With Jing Jing, his adoration is very evident in his demeanor and actions. I am also glad that both Yang Yang, Reba and the YAMG production team put in the effort to the little details to set the couple apart from other romantic dramas.
Same sentiments here. Too bad we don't know how to reach Gu Man. Probably peanuts & hoju knows how as they obtained…
Love the website with Peanuts and Hoju and am quite sad to learn that will no longer be any translation projects. It is a shame because I have read most if not all of the translated novels on that website.
People need to hit Gu Man up and ask her to start writing. !!
Turtle is exactly right!! I have read all her translated novels and am still (impatiently) waiting on Book 2 of "Blazing Sunlight". That was three years ago. I hope with the recent success of YAMG, she might be motivated to finish Blazing Sunlight or start a new one. Her novels to screen adaptations have been so well received and she's a wonderful storyteller so it will be a shame for us not to read more of her works.
