wow it's a mess on weibo. the author of the novel (chen ping) is accused of plagiarism. it's not the fault of the drama who bought the rights to film the drama since they had no idea it was plagiarized but this really sucks for the victim
The only modern dramas that gain traction internationally are romance 😭 unless it goes viral like Reset did... there are so many suspense dramas that are so high quality that international cdrama fans ignore

It's more of a business decision that most cdrama cp pairs won't work together after a successful drama together because they don't want their entire image to be tied to a single cp pairing. There are some actors/actresses that are comfortable with working with the same person over and over because they either 1.) have MANY respected and popular works with multiple different people or 2.) they want to ride on the success of the cp pairing even if that means their image will be tied to the same person.

There's a reason my fav actors are Wu Lei and Bai Jingting, they both choose their projects carefully and don't try to fulfill a quota # of dramas/projects per year. And for both of them, once they accept a role, they fully immerse themselves into that character the entire time. There's a reason why it's a famous thing among actors to want to "escape from Hengdian" because they all know what separates a "serious" actor from an "idol" actor. I'm not saying that idol dramas are bad, I LOVE a lot of idol dramas but seriously we have to give props to people who take their craft so incredibly.

I'm sure they would have expected to maybe not pass and filmed extra things to replace the parts that didn't pass. There's no way this drama will never air because they spent WAY too much money on the IP to buy the rights to this novel and they also spent so much to get BJT and ZRN. I think this just means they will need to spend so time editing it. Hopefully they don't rush the editing though because I'd rather wait an extra month or two than for the storyline to have obvious flaws
