agreed! that's why i like when the politics are part of the main plot because it actually makes sense why the leads are so involved. when it's the subplot, i get lost and bored.

what he said in ep 1 when he was the emperor shows that his mindset became the same as his father's. he fears the noble houses getting stronger and rebelling.

my third Zhao Jinmai drama (after Reset and Amidst a Snowstorm of Love), i think her acting is mostly good but idk how to explain it... she's kinda awkward when it comes to the romance scenes. i think it might be cause she's young and maybe inexperienced in real life because even in variety shows to promote her dramas (i.e. ASOL promotions with Wu Lei in Hello Saturday), she is quite awkward.

they did consummate but Li Rong's stress in her previous life made it difficult for her to get pregnant. it's a big plot point because in this 2nd life, when Li Rong got pregnant, they were sooooo happy because they thought she wouldn't be able to (like in her 1st life) and had already accepted that.

if you continue, i think you'd empathize with FL more and more. as a princess, she is not trusted by her family and she ought not to trust her family either. having no one to trust makes her actions understandable (not excusable but understandable)

i'm glad but at the same time wished they released a little later so that the ML would have time to dub his own voice instead of having a voice actor

yup, emperor is afraid of the crown prince's maternal family getting more powerful. that's also why li rong's choices for husbands were all not great... emperor doesn't want her to marry someone powerful either.

it does seem like the whole point of this drama are the leads trying to navigate palace politics (including their romance) with their 2nd chance in life. but if you give the first few episodes a shot and the politics aren't too much, i think there's a chance you'd get invested into their stories and what happened (even tho that's politics too).

i don't typically like palace politics but that's only cause so often the palace politics are a boring subplot that isn't well-written.

after reading all the novel spoilers (thanks to JoJe in discussions post), i really can't wait for all 40 episodes. there's so much depth to the palace politics (which i hope doesn't scare people away from the drama). none of us would've survived in that palace cause every little move can be cause for suspicion, what a tiring life

obsessed with how they did ML's eyeliner, the thin little wing and sometimes the eyeliner in the inner corner. it makes his eyes look so majestic, i can't look away

Was just casually browsing XHS now and saw a video of Julia Xiang holding a rose with her mouth so that she could sign an autograph (hands were both occupied) and now I have a major crush on her. I already sort of did from Our Times but phew.

I think public recognition is great but I also think it won’t be bad if BJT’s fandom grows with it too - which I think this drama will do for both BJT and ZRN. The public trusts his acting because of New Life Begins and Always on the Move but that didn’t protect him from the insane amount of 黑粉 that spread rumors topping all Chinese social media top searches this February. People who knew BJT only from his acting still joined in on the fun of making things up and tarnishing his name. So many comments “I thought his acting was great in Reset but too bad he craves center position attention.” Liuliangs might not be known for their acting skills but can’t lie their fan support is amazing.

I think it's because they are strict on what they accept. Has to show top and bottom of face, face has to look directly at camera with no obstructions (hair), best if ears are showing... their criteria is like passport photo lol

Did you guys see Victor Ma literally said himself that he is incapable of acting well in romance dramas and that he can’t play Sang Yan in TFF vs as Sang Zhi’s brother? Besides the 100 other reasons why he isn't TFF Sang Yan, the actor himself says he can't do the role well.

Ye Fang and Chen Hong Jun’s story is insane to me - they should've never been together. If the rape accusations weren't enough, then Chen Hong Jun forcibly kissing her (she was still engaged to Chen Tao at this time) was already a red flag. The entire Ye family are the definition of entitled wealthy brats. Why is our ML and Xiao Mei the only good characters here….?

for this drama too... they are using shanghai dialect so it's hard to understand fully even if you learn mandarin sigh

ugh im so tired of waiting. i've been trying to watch this drama with my mom since release but seems like they seriously think there's no international audience for this drama or something...

I respect your opinion! However, just wanted to say (since I'm a BJT fan), he is always referred to by his full name (Bai Jing Ting) or Xiao Bai (by all his colleagues, friends, and fans), never by just "Jing Ting" which he doesn't like hahah
