i really hope wulei continues acting in dramas (esp historical and wuxias), his presence would be missed if he decides to focus 100% on filming movies. but please keep him away from xianxias, tho i doubt he would ever do xianxias anyway.
wulei doing a xianxia would make 0 sense. at most is a wuxia which would be 1000% better than a xianxia because wuxias aren't as much as a cash grab as xianxias. xianxia is better for new idol actors that want quick and easy popularity tbh

ep 18 got me drawing parallels to lighter and princess. in lighter and princess, the ML makes a mistake as a child (after suffering a significant loss) and FL's mom is involved. same thing in amidst a snowstorm of love... i HATE adults who can't forgive children who make mistakes... these mistakes don't define who they are and especially not when you consider their circumstances.
in both dramas, i 1000% can understand if the MLs grow to feel bitter about adults who failed them and a sense of bitterness towards other people who grew up in sheltered environments (the FL in both dramas) but instead LYY is the sweetest boy ever. please can these adults gtfo.

yeah i get it, 5 years is actually nothing compared to 15 years from her entire immediate family (like even her oldest brother never visited it seemed???) but idk feels bad after following their journey and seeing her parents protect her and ling buyi that night
this drama always makes me pause between scenes because it's too sweet and i literally feel shy on the other end of the screen for intruding on their moments.
rewatching this for the nth time and for the first time ever, i've had this thought... after ling buyi betrays shaoshang, shaoshang goes into seclusion for years with the empress. i know shaoshang's parents weren't perfect by any means but they DID risk everything to go save ling buyi that day in the interest of their daughter. shaoshang's seclusion meant that she missed all of his sibling's marriages and the birth of her nieces and nephews. i can't help but think that while shaoshang was hurting deeply from the betrayal and needed time, this was another instance where shaoshang chose the empress over her family. i know the empress was ready to sacrifice a lot for shaoshang as well (with the whole saving shaoshang's dad arc) but the seclusion for years was super heartbreaking for her parents. i guess, in a way, this is her showing her parents what the 15 years she spent alone growing up was like by pulling the uno reversal.
