the universe in this drama is super hard to digest, story became draggy as it went on; it was nice watching scenes with Do Hwa, and seeing Kyung's growth from being aggressive to fragile nonetheless ;)
I fondly finished watching this drama and that being said, it was not boring to me for the most part! Also loved seeing some other supporting characters, the workplace scenes and book-related quotes! However, three negatives! 1. I think the "main" conflict/ secret in the story is a bit disjointed meaning it is not directly related to the main characters. 2. The main characters lack depth in personality (especially male lead seems too perfect or bland to be frank). 3. Romance part became unexciting after their first kiss :o (lacks development or a bit too fluffy for the circumstances the female lead was in I guess; maybe it's the fact that I prefer angsty romance)
after I finished watching this movie I did think it was rushed (because there were not enough interactions and moments to properly lead to the characters' decisions especially the girl and the teacher) and now having learned it was adapted from a manga, I can understand how there cant be every detail conveyed in such a short runtime as a movie. but I enjoyed watching this, especially for Maruma and and Yosano's interactions and her friendship with Yuyuka <3 what a feel good movie
watching park boyoung playing a badass female character and Jongsuk a wimp was kind of an amusing experience for me, if only the plot was good enough to keep up, which was kind of a pity.
this drama got some very great selection of OSTs, especially "Poem titled you" by Taeyeon ♥ IU is sooo pretty and her acting was so good, and Jang Man Wol is my favorite type of character.
Robot romance is very hard to accept even in fictional circumstances; we are never gonna get a truly happy ending. And I had that in mind the whole time watching this. Entertainment value is the only saving grace for such a show. But I had fun only in the beginning. It drags with irrelevant subplots quickly and burns into what I might sadly have to say, hot garbage.
Ma Wang Joon was complete shit in the way he broke up with her and made her into a perverted stalker but she keeps…
but again it's whatever precious memories they held for 7 years that are holding her back. I'm sure they are going to break up (again) soon for the main leads love line's sake, the problem is whether it's satisfying or not.
historical, political, musical (?) and tragedy are my least favorite genres to watch. But this movie was well executed given a pretty simple plot line. Many characters and relationships were memorable. But the entertainment value is pretty questionable for this movie, since the message is nothing new and the mood is super heavy most of the time; and to me personally, I got tired of tap dance scenes after a while (kudos to the cast though, they must have worked hard!)
You're right, it looks like Dada is beginning to treat 09 more as a human now as she's looking for the normal…
thank you, that was a very well-written analysis about DDxYG characters :) I love well-thought out replies ♥ I also love the differences the writer pulled off compared to the original manga. This is actually a good set-up! They just need some kind of intriguing arc (should I say Diana is the one right now?) or plot twists to make the story less one-directional and predictable! I think I missed that detail of YG's face being a replicated version of someone else connected to Diana? Do you remember where to watch that? Guess I'm super absent-minded when I watch this drama haha
I guess Dada really treats 09 as a human being now that she has warmed up to him. That's why she gets frustrated with getting unconditional affection from 09; she feels the need to reciprocate his "love". This is really sad, but the show is certainly driving us to a human-robot love fantasy train, only to be wrecked in the end. About WJxDD, I really hope they don't make any more misunderstandings and talk to each other more. I don't want them to drift apart just because of silly accidents that interrupt them meeting each other, kind of a sore in the eye as I watched what happened in ep 11-12. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Diana, by the way. (I mean, she's an interesting character isn't she?)
I appreciate your recommendation, but the way you compare both dramas is a bit disheartening to Absolute Boyfriend…
Okay, at least put a phrase to let us know your opinion may change after both shows end. I compare on-going shows all the time; I respect every critic opposing my favors, as long as they are clear.
I like this show and the four episodes I've seen so far. I’m currently also loving another fantasy romantic…
I appreciate your recommendation, but the way you compare both dramas is a bit disheartening to Absolute Boyfriend watchers; acting and production value, I may not argue (I haven't watched ALM:L though), but are you sure the writing and characters are better than that of MAB? I believe your comment may become valid after both dramas end. But definitely not now, when it's way too early in the game.
I will watch this drama and review it to make an advice to peolpe who dont know this drama is good or not. Wait…
OMG just came back to this because another user replied to this comment and saw Park Hanbyul as the female lead.. sorry people I'm have not watched this drama T-T and probably never will...
thank you for the input! it's a fantasy drama so I do think I was ridiculous to say it was 'illogical', but still there were definitely something that I felt wasn't executed well. Things seemed to settle with ease like it was made out as an easy way out, but this is again from my feelings right now about the drama, without fresh memories, so I might have come off as a thickheaded who doesn't know the topic very well anymore ^^'
Since the beautiful Masquerade happened, I expected the newer version to be at least of the same quality. Writer said they took years to write the script didn't they? I think they focused too much on building the endless tactical fights for throne/ power/ revenge that they forgot they had to delve more into the characters. This drama does not have to stay true to the parent plot but I really hated how they killed off the real king. He was one of the two most important characters and I honestly expected him to bounce back from the cruelty because I saw some good in him. I felt like it was a disappointing surprise killing the king and it could have been so much better if he had been kept alive. Like how nice would it be if the clown somehow made the king realize how to properly rule a country again during his time of replacing the latter. And the romance, folks, just imagine the potential shipping dilemma we might have experienced if the plot was as said. It was lackluster in every way compared to Masquerade: plot, message, characters, comedy, and maybe romance (it was subtle but I personally prefer the chemistry in the movie). No offense to the great cast esp. Yeo Jingoo, though, but you cannot do anything else to an already set personality. TL;DR my personal advice is to watch the movie version for a neat, coherent ride with less cliche characters (and romance!).

it was a pretty easy watch. recommended!
8/10 for me~
